It would add some "seniority" among the two, and Gar is known for watching over his friends when there out cold or just came over something horrific. But if it were like that, why would Raven ask "how long were you standing there" and Gar trying to hide the fact that he was watching her, unless we was telling the truth and that he was watching her for only a little bit. |

I do think he is concerned for her and that's at least part of the reason he's watching over her. The Wyld incident was very recent - I'd say a couple days, though Hendersons rookie gaffs make it tough to tell sometimes - and she was hit hard by it. He was by her side a lot then too. So either way one might factor that in too. |

I imagine that BB was just coming in to wake Raven himself and got a little distracted by her beauty to actually start waking her. I bet the page just before this is him quietly flying in just minutes before Jamie came around. Either way, her reaction to it is the only element we need to be concearned with. No matter what Jamie feels about it, or how creepy it could seem out of context, the fact that Raven didn't mind (in fact appreciated it) is a good sign. A badly written sign, but a good one non-the-less. Also, am I the only one getting tired of Jamie complaining about the pain associated with his suit every other line? He used to be an interesting character. Now he just seems like he would much rather be rid of his powers. And lastly, this XL super fan with lite-brown hair and a soul patch who taylors his gadgets to super-hero restraint. Could this be Control Freak brought into the main DCU? Not saying that I hope it is, but it kinda looks like that... |

We might not have to put up with it much longer. Jamie may well be leaving the team before too long. He's going to be part of this JLI reunion written by Keith Giffen and Judd Winnick. So I suspect he'll leave the team before too awful long.
I would not be in the least bit surprised. It's almost shocking someone didn't bring him in already. |

You know, I really thought that the one guy showing Gar to his booth at the comic book convention in Gar's Titans one shot was going to turn out to be Control Freak. I was actually dissapointed when the animated villian introduced was actually Cinderblock instead... As for Jamie leaving, I guess I'd be ok with it. Even though he hasn't done much since joining the team and I was hoping his being around would come to some greater use. I guess it's better he leave than be put to waste. And it makes room for when Supes and KF rejoin. Maybe BB and Rae won't be pushed out when Titan's tower runs out of bedrooms. |

Its been about a week since the Wyld attack--remember that happened before Blackest Night... not sure how long that went on for in their time line, but figure at least a couple of days. After that Static went back to Dakota, and they didn't hear from him for a couple of days, and then when they were looking for Static, that was ANOTHER two days--recall this panel:![]() So at least a week, maybe more, since we didn't get a Blackest Night aftermath issue for Teen Titans like we did with Titans. But she does have a problem with time--she needs to note at least the time of day, if not the day of the week, when we jump forward. At least she does, because as AI noted two issues ago, we kept jumping back and forth between the Titans and Static at different points in the day, making it hard to know whether the events were at parallel times or in sequential order. I hope you guys are right about Gar's behavior, because I'm not too sure myself. I'm sorry, its just creepy. Gar even says "She's gonna know that I was--", I just don't get what Felicia is trying to do. It is one of two things really--either she does still have some issues with her dialogue and plotting (and she does); or this is just foreshadowing for some dark stuff Gar is going to go through revolving around Raven. 'cause every time we see Gar now, he seems to be obsessing over Raven. I mean, this is the first time in a while that Raven acknowledge it, and she seemed okay with it... but at the same time Felicia's pattern with Gar seems to be one of obsession over Raven. From his first appearance under her pen, he's been pretty much obsessed with Raven yet they're still in this weird place... I'm not sure anyone, even DC, knows where they're supposed to be in their relationship--if they have one--at this point.
The problem with this explanation is that its the off-panel excuse--yeah, anything could have happened off-panel. Gar and Raven could have been at a roller derby with Superman right before this happened. At the moment I'm assuming these are the first pages of the comic--only because I can't remember ever reading a preview for a comic that wasn't the first few pages. So this comic starts off like this--we have no idea except to infer that Gar was watching her for... some reason. Also note that Jaime came barging in to wake them up because of what he heard over the police scanner; Gar had no reason to wake her up. I dunno, the whole thing is becoming kinda weird and a little creepy. I'm more afraid of other readers who don't feel one way or another about the pairing will feel. I mean, if I just picked this up right now, I'd think it a bit weird. Last thing I wanna see is this pair become a Peter/Mary-Jane or Scott/Jean. Because Gar seems to be heading in their directions over Raven, and that will be bad news for all of us. She better redeem Gar, he's consistently looking like ass under her pen. I want him to be competent, at least. Well, whatever is going on, she's going to use Gar... for better or worse. |

I'm not entirely sure about that. The tower was destroyed in Blackest Night. Really, I don't know when the hell all this is supposed to be taking place. Sure, there were the two Rose BN issues, but that's not an indication to go by; not only did the Teen Titans have absolutely nothing to do with it, but it seemed to have been dropped there chiefly because there was no place else for it, not because that's where it takes place timeline-wise. And that's why there's just so much trouble with this whole thing. There have been no indicators whatsoever that tell when any of this is taking place. The tower was destroyed in Blackest Night; the Wyld attack could not have happened right before Blackest Night, because then how the hell is the tower still standing for the Static stuff to immediately start up? Not to mention Bart was there during Blackest Night; and he's just not there yet, but is rather soon. So this all causes the trouble of when this takes place, exactly; I'm honestly thinking that we're still pre-Blackest Night, because there's no other way all this can work and still make any real sense.
You've got to remember where she comes from. One of the things there was Family Matters. The dramatic, slapsticky kind of romance is something that's probably most familiar to her; hell, that's the kind of stuff you tended to see in Family Matters. When you look at the scene, it looks like it's played up to be the standard "awkward misunderstanding" some shows she was involved in used a good bit. Felicia's not a writer I believe we can look too much into the methods of, especially this early into her career in comics. I really don't think she's acclimated to the kind of storytelling, jokes or tropes we expect at all, coming from a much different business and a much different style. Which really goes to show that Teen Titans was probably not a book she should have gone to; but at the same time, DC clearly needed somebody considering we (the Titans fanbase) basically shouted Winnick out, Sean McKeever was leaving and they had no one else to do it. She ain't Geoff Johns; I highly doubt - coming from the kind of shows she has - she's used to doing a lot of foreshadowing or even subtlety. But that's what we're used to. So... I dunno. I really don't think it's anything.
It has happened a bit recently, but these are definitely the first few pages. There may be one or two before this, but not much more. It's standard practice in comics to have the opening credits within the first five pages at the latest. |

Well it does look like Felicia is kicking the poor guy around a lot. I mean, really he just asked his buds for help in that panel, no reason to blow up in Gar's face. I don't know, with what Pliss is bringing up, I'm getting a bad vibe from it all, even with my optimistic approach to the watching her sleep thing. I don't think he's coming off like an ass, just a bit, well, dumb at worst. Which is unfair. Gar isn't dumb, he's just an average guy I think. Maybe it's just the "worst case scenario fears" part of my noggin talking, but the characterization of Gar as the team's kick around guy is starting to make me worry if this isn't turning into something reminiscent of what His Majesty wouild probably write. In other words, ******* Beast Boy. |

Again, maybe I'm overeacting... in fact I very well no doubt am and I'm positive I'm over slimpfying. I just don't know what to think man. This is why I've limited my scope of comics, I fear dissapointment at every turn. |

Well then, don't watch to much TV or play too many video games then, because those are bound to disappoint to. You'll have to excuse me; I'm not in a great mood and of course the ever present "worst case scenario" vibe surrounding this book doesn't help. |

I understand, to be honest I haven't been those two things much either. (Sigh) It's been a boring week. I know, I'm being stupid. I'm just trying to see things from Pliss' point of view in a way. It' is a bit worrisome, I'd like to get some concrete answers on where this book is going you know? |

"Creepy stalker scene" aside, Gar does seem to show some good leader effect while Cassie's in "Control Freak's" basement. Though, I'm a bit lost, I haven't seen the last issue, how did half the team end up splitting up??? |

Actually when I think about that it does alleviate worries, because Gar does sound like he knows what he's doing for once. Again, I was more then likely just over reacting back there. |
