What.

The.

Fudgesicles.

A movie based on a video game that's damn near plotless? Hollywood's really run out of ideas at this point. I think they ran out of ideas long ago, when word of a movie based on Burger King came round about. What else is gonna get thrown our way?

What the f%%% is this s%%%, Charles?

All number of asinine ideas are thrown around Hollywood. The trick is to remember that while any idea, however stupid, is brought up at some point, they rarely go anywhere. This probably will not go anywhere either; there's nothing to build on.

You've got that right. How can you write a story revolving around the Viewmaster? It's a toy! A freakin' toy!!

What's next? The Rubik's Cube?

Hey do ya'll remember that movie...came out like 10-11 years ago. Something about a meteor or asteroid. Said it was gonna destroy the world, so they send people up to blow it up and they do?

And then there was a similar movie that came out around the same time, only the asteroid hit the Earth, but most people were in these underground shelters?

Yeah, no one remembers those movies

I've said before that Hollywood is out of ideas, but now they're apparently out of brains too. (Insert zombie joke here) Why even bother to buy the rights to Asteroids? The game has essentially no plot, so you know you're gonna have to make one up, so why not just do that anyways but not call it Asteroids? Save somebody a lot of money and headaches.

They're never out of ideas. It's just the good ones are never given a chance.

Armageddon and Deep Impact?

I always liked Deep Impact more.

I would watch a movie based off of Asteroids... but only to see the preview for Space Invaders.

Who knows, maybe after that, we'll see the cinematic Donkey Kong vs. Mario? (Actually, that'd be kinda cool.)

Especially since Mario has a lot more story than Asteroids anyway.

I thought both of them weren't bad at all. Armageddon did have more in the way of scientific inaccuracies though.

Granted, it's the SAME damn story every single time.

Not EVERY time.

Just, like, 95% of the time. :)

The only exception I can think of offhand was Yoshi's Island. But I don't know if I should count that or not. It was really more of a Yoshi game than a Mario game.

Would the Donkey Kong Country games be considered a part of the Mario universe? You know. Since Donkey Kong is a Mario character.
