You guys are not alone. As much of a realist/pessimist as I can be, I am still, surprisingly, a romantic at heart. Stuff like this, with Gar being so loving with Raven, just makes me feel so warm inside. It makes me really happy.

And, seriously, "I love you" will always give me the tingles. It's just sweet. And, since this is the first time either one of them as said it, at least to the best of my knowledge, it's all the sweeter.

Romaticism trumps pesscimism I guess.

At least for Changeling it does. But knowing her I wouldn't expect any less. Never change girl.

By the way, how are reviews of the comic going? I found IGN's... not pleseant.

Don't be too despondent about IGN's review. They haven't really been on board the Titans franchise since Geoff left. Their general prognosis is "trainwreck". I'm surprised they even reviewed the issue. If it wasn't an anniversary issue with a new writer I doubt they would have.

From what DT tells me, fan reaction seems to be fair to positive. Most folks don't seem sure what to make of it, since it's more of a setup issue than anything else. But most seem to feel good about the issue while hoping things get better from here.

I echo all of this.

I got this issue on Wednesday afternoon. It was a pretty good read. I really think Gar will be taking the majority of focus on this book now, with the exception of the occassional story arc that focuses on one of the other titans. Needless to say, it certainly not the Wondergirl book anymore.

There was alot of Gar bashing. Mostly Bombshell and Blue Beetle, a little Aquagirl too. But most upsetting was from someone else...

Spoiler: click to toggle

Oh well, Cassie wasn't certainly glad to have him around. She seemed all to willing for someone to take charge from her. Also, M'gann was her ever cheerie self for him to be around. However... spoiler time...

Folks, if there was ever a time to start reading Teen Titans monthly, this would be it. Not only does it need the sales, this is about as good a ground floor jumping on point as you could get. Also, things may be looking up in the near future; it's sounding like some big stuff may be planned for the team.

Reactions from the comic Titans fanbase seem to be divided. You've got your folks who don't like it, but most of the commentary is, from what I hear, fair to positive about the issue. This may just be wishful thinking on my part, but Felicia Henderson may just surprise us all.

I'd like him to remain a focus and lead the team, but as much as I love Gar, I don't want the book to turn into the Beast Boy show. It's still a team book, after all. The others need some spotlight too.

I'm hoping a bit of a team renovation happens in the near future. I'd personally trade Bombshell for Rose and bring Traci 13 in. It's almost inevitable that Superboy will return to the team, so there's some major muscle when it inevitably happens. Stuff like that would go a long way towards making an interesting team.

How was that upsetting? They sounded happy for him. To be getting a chance to do something and get his confidence back. I don't see that as bad; if anything, it shows Roy and Vic really care about what happens to him.

I'm not completely up to date on events that have transpired recently, but she's probably thinking she's been a bit of a failure as a leader. Like Gar's Titans during 52, her tenure as leader has been an unmitigated disaster and they even lost Eddie. She can't be feeling too good about herself, so it makes sense she'd be all too willing to give up leadership to Gar.

********

A buddy of mine, Pliskin, thinks this might be Felicia wrapping up the Trigon business from before. It's certainly a possibility. But I hope that's not the case; Trigon, Brother Blood and the Fatal Five have been fixtures as Titans villains for far too long. The title needs new blood.

I hope this will mean a new Titans rogue.

I'm also still very unsure about the White Martian bit. I suppose we'll know soon enough, but it seems too soon to delve into that right now. Felicia just started, after all, so some setup is inevitable; I don't think he'd want to wrap up the simmering subplot that's been left to the extreme background right this minute. That would be something to save for later.

It was Bashing on Roy's part. Vic and Kory were very happy for Gar and roy agreed that he fits with the Teen team, but when Vic mentioned that he would someday move beyond that, Roy was hesistant to believe that Gar would ever be enough for the Big Leagues. I guess I should have mentioned that the whole conversation started with Vic telling Roy "I know how you feel about Beast Boy..."

I don't think so either, but I think there are too many hints to completely write off the possibility...

Also, I saw the variant cover... It really didn't work for the book or for the big anniversary. You know the picture we saw of Starfire? Well that was the whole cover, the only difference was that in the background you could see some of the other titans in a fuzzy out of focus look. I love Starfire, and she was drawn great, but she didn't do enough in this issue to deserve the full focus on this cover. Particularly since this was the big 75th issue and it could have been a great moment for a group shot... Oh well.

Stupid people, of course.

Hopefully she's brought back into the team after the Blackest Night tie-in. Or the co-feature is finished. I hear Sean said the co-feature was cut down to a nine part story. We're supposed to be having one of the co-features replaced, so I heavily suspect Ravagers will be it; which hopefully means she'll be a part of the team again.

Ah. Alright then. Well, that sucks. But the Titans have been a bit adversarial of late.

I suppose. I just think it's too soon, personally.

Perhaps the regular cover was meant to be the group shot? All that said, yeah. Star is a baffling choice for the variant when she wasn't even a focus in the issue much at all. You'd think if you had to choose one character Gar would have been a better pick.

... Oh yeah. I forgot about that possibility. I've been so excited about the Gar-voicing-his-affection panel that I pretty much forgot about Titans title.

Well, I suppose that could always happen. I guess it depends on how the Teen Titans tie-in goes. Rose and Slade don't exactly see one eye to one eye anymore. So unless they find common ground while killing zombies - which, frankly, is a pretty good icebreaker - we won't know.

Either team is a very real possibility.

I really hope we get Rose back soon. =/ Bombshell is a lot like Rose in that she's the bitchy action girl, but not as likeable. Still not really solid on why she's back on the team again after betraying them all in the first place. >_> I read it all, I just wasn't convinced. Guess by this point it's almost like "Oh, you betrayed us? That's cool, just another Tuesday. Come on back to the team, sure!"

I was kinda hoping we were done with Trigon for a while, since after his sons stole his power, he said that he wouldn't be able to open the portal to earth for centuries. He's kind of beginning to feel part of a formula: New Titans team forms, they fight the Justice League, they fight Trigon in some form. It almost seems like an audition for a new series, to see how the writer can handle that same basic outline. XD Some imagination would be nice.

I'm with you on this. It never really made sense to me how she was welcomed back in. It seemed kinda phoned in. I like her budding friendship with Miss Martian, but I would much rather have that friendship with Rose and M'gann more.

Same. He really needs to stay away for a while. I don't mind that he's back - hell, he was dead for twenty years our time, so that's not so bad; not to mention this leaves the option open if someone has a killer idea down the line - but I really think the Trigon connections need a rest. The Titans need new villains and new connections outside of the usual; it felt like Geoff was trying for that, but he simply left way too soon.

Same. It's cool that she has had her own solo feature and all as a backup, but I'd rather she were with the team. I miss her in that capacity.

Ok, your guys talk about trigon just gave me a crazy, way out, hope it isn't what's happening but could see them doing it, theory. Ok, this monster has six heads and a connection with Raven...

Crazy theory: When raven was stealing the powers from her brothers, she was using Beastboy as a conduit to transfer the powers to the titans. Well, the sin powers never stayed in the titans and we never found out what happened to her six brothers. So, maybe, hopefully not but maybe, the powers returned to the brothers, but picked up a little animal mojo from being passed through Beast Boy. Now they are stuck as a demonic six headed monster-beast and need Raven to fix it.

I know it's far out, and almost certainly not whats happening. But it's kinda funny to think about.

Something to consider, though all the Seven Deadly Sins that Raven conjures up actually belongs to the Captain Marvel mythos--which I found really strange for Raven to use--so they already do have avatars, which usually look like different colored imps portraying each sin.

I think the only reason Winnick used the Seven Sins was as a nod back to his work on Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr., which he had worked on prior to this title.

Its a good theory, and actually possible, though it would have the hole in that the Marvel family at the Rock of Eternity should have been aware of the development--the statues in the Rock of Eternirty change to match whomever they possess or whatever form they take. When the JLA and JSA members got possessed by the deadly sins, for example, the statues changed into the heroes each sin took over.

Still, you're thinking, and that's welcomed...

... Especially because we should be aware that we're going to deal with some downers, even as the series picks up. There are a lot of YJ fanatics out there who want to see Teen Titans turn into Young Justice Part 2, and they're the ones who seem to stick around.

Also be prepared for anti-shippers to rear their heads. Chances are they're going to be awaken from their slumber, especially after what seemed like the nail in the coffin in the last issue of Titans.

Just keep your cool, don't get dragged into a flame war, and be as level headed and open about it as you can. Its looking like that not only are Gar and Raven being set up for something in the future, but that they're going into it together. I think the ship is going to be well off. We'll hit bumps, but DC has kept this going this long, so that means something.

So be intelligent in your responses and don't get stuck in an endless loop of arguments or name calling.

And if that doesn't silence them or get them off your back... then just pull out your completely childish response and rub it in their faces.

See--I've got mine all ready!

Hey, we've dealt with them before. They were around when the ship was first canon. They didn't matter much then either. If anything, them crawling out of their slumber is a GOOD sign; it means that they recognize it as very real and enough of a threat to run their mouths about.

I'll be honest; I hate those fans. They need to just let go. Even when the four were in Teen Titans the book wasn't anything like Young Justice; the comedy that was so prevalent in YJ was almost completely missing.
