I think that's how it is for all the made up AS characters.

While that may be the case for the majority of the animated characyters that get introduced to the comics, lets not forget that if it weren't for such practices, we wouldn't have Harley Quinn.

Labor Day weekend pushes the usual date of Wednesday for new comics to Thursday. So it hasn't released yet. This model of pushing back a day tends to occur whenever major holidays are around.

Canadians don't have that though, so they can pick up their comics. I haven't heard anything in regards to spoilers though. UnfunnyJoke is RBSU's resident Canadian and he hasn't said anything, so I assume he didn't make it to the comic shop yesterday. Coupled with the fact that there's been no discussion elsewhere whatsoever and I'm inclined to think most Canadian comic readers didn't make it to the shop, aren't Titans fans or the issue was so bland and made of fail that they preferred not to bother.

New comics hit today this week, so we should know what's what later in the day.

This is true, but Harley was a standout character, so she fit for making the jump to comics. There were other characters from the series that never made the jump, such as Sewer King and Baby Doll. Harley fit; not all AS exclusive characters fit as well.

I'm heading out to my local store as soon as they open. I'll put up any note worthy spoilers sometime today. No scans tho as I have no scanner...

This is certainly true, but my point was simply that Harley is so great that I'm willing to except the less-than-stellar cartoon created characters*

*nice alliteration, no?

I'm not expecting to hear much of interest, really; I highly suspect the preview is the only interaction we're going to see of Gar and Rae in the entire issue. The first scene alone seems to have taken six or seven pages; and they still need to introduce a new villain and presumably have a fight. In fifteen pages. Doesn't leave much room.

It's a damn shame that it would have to be Gar's issue that has a real chance of being a total bust.

I can accept them. I just expect them to actually add something or to be a character writers want to even use. If they don't, I just kind of wonder what the point was.

Take Mas y Menos; they were brought in and did a grand total of absolutely nothing before being dispatched in Final Crisis (dead or just knocked out, we never found out).

Four hours past noon and still no real spoilers.

I have a basic idea of what happened though from the only place that was actually discussing the issue. Post-preview Gar apparently finds himself at Comic Con. He teams with the Teen Titans and plays leader. Cue lame "is this the end of the Titans" ending.

If the rest of the issue is filled with characterization as bad as the preview, I'll pass. I don't even need more detailed spoilers at this point.

Maybe that ending is a cliffhanger?

You know for the next issue.

Yeah, whatever doesn't sound very fun now does it?

In the hands of a good writer, it could be fun.

Judging by the preview, under the writer who actually wrote the issue, I'm guessing probably not.

Well, my comic place ran out of the issue. But I got what seem like spoilers from someone on Comicbloc.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Well good news, the AS villian wasn't Control Freak. Bad news, Raven is still a b*tch. Hopefully, the author on Raven's spotlight does a better job on her.

Well we'll finally figure out how she feels about it next issue anyway and its nice to see Gar take charge of his life a bit.

Still, I'd prefer we forget this spotlight happened and move on.

So much for people not bothered picking up the issue then.

From the things' I've heard, it doesn't sound too bad besides Raven being bitchy. I guess I'll have to see the scans myself to judge it.

Ok, I picked this issue up and just finished reading it...

Not a horrible story, the preview pages were definately the worst. Once the rest of the titans weren't around it didn't feel so uncomfortable. That said, this book wasn'tas good as the Starfire story and nowhere near as good as Cyborgs...

It was certainly funnier...

Spoiler: click to toggle

Also about all the other "selling points" that were mentioned...

So much for people not bothered picking up the issue then.

Keep in mind that the reason they ran out could easily have been under-ordering. Some shops don't order more than what's on their customers pull lists; some others might order one or two extra of a mid range book. The closest comic shop to me doesn't even order Titans nine times out of ten. American comic shops can only order based on what they think will sell.

Cinderblock? Seriously? Oh good lord.

At least it wasn't Control Freak; that would have been groan inducing.

Actually, if they do play him as a Golem, it could be interesting. I always like mythical creatures being brought into modern worlds...

Also, I'll admit, the idea of Control Freak being in the comics kinda warmed up to me. I mean if you give a more finite limit on his powers, make them a little less cartoony, then it could be fun to have a villian who's trying to get people to belive he's a serious threat. He could fill the gap the Dr Light left after he got his bad-assness back.
