Okay, so Silent Hill is more or less my favourite video game series ever. And the new reimagining of the first game (coming for Wii, PSP and PS2) looks absolutely amazing! Here, take a look. I'm loving the fact that the game changes based off of how you act and how you answer a therapist's questions at the start of the game. I also like the Clock Tower-esque change of not being able to fight back. It's total run and hide. Wonderful! The above site also have a three part walkthrough of the start of the game. Keep in mind however that you might get a completely different play through. After all, you might answer questions differently. So yeah, any other fans here? I'm always down for talking about the series as a whole. It's so much better than Resident Evil in every way, and I LOVE ResEvil.

I've only actually played The Room all the way through. I'm currently going through Homecoming though. I wanted to play the rest of the series though; they just tend to be so damn hard to find these days. This games announcement is one of the few interesting Wii announcements at E3. I like what I've heard about the features. This actually sounds like it's going to be a very interesting remake; though it could probably be done on another system as well quite easily. The one thing I'm iffy about is the complete lack of weapons. I think cutting them back is a brilliant idea, but I think keeping a couple would actually add to the frights. I'm talking severely underpowered weapons that won't kill much of anything. Pea-shooters. Not having a weapon means you have to flee every time and you know it. But with underpowered weapons... man, sometimes few things are freakier than something monsterous and destructive barreling down on you with you having nothing left but a pathetic weapon |

Wow... if you like the series based only one 4 and 5, you're really going to enjoy it when you play the good games! (I've not played 5 myself, but I've heard some let downs)The Room would have been much better if they wouldn't have made most of the game an escort mission. Most people agree that the second game is the best in the series, and it is really good. James and the others are all great characters and it's neat to see all the monsters based around his messed up mentality. My favourite game is the third one though. It has a pretty good story, good gameplay, decent scares and the best set of unlockables. (20+ costumes, lots of weapons) I'd order my opinion in the games (best to worst) as being: 3, 2, 1, 0, 4 |

Yeah, I agree with that. I liked a lot of the ideas in The Room. The apartment and it's subsequent haunting, the ghosts and the limited means to stop them for good. I dunno, I just liked it quite a bit; though I'm well aware series aficionado's weren't keen on it.
I'm enjoying it well enough. It's nothing too spectacular though. Nothing really stands out about this one. The Room at least had some things that grabbed your attention; so far Homecoming is somewhat bland.
I've wanted to play that one. As I said though, the games aren't all that easy to nab anymore. Part fo why I'm looking forward to this; I've only been able to experience some of the original through videos, not through gameplay. |

Yeah, homecoming seemed kinda bland. I still plan on grabbing it though, if only for the collection I have. Live near any pawn shops? For some reason they tend to have SH2. I've no idea why. |

'Fraid not. I don't know where the nearest one would even be. Homecoming lacks anything interesting, I'm noticing. Nothing's really jumping out at me as freaky or particularly unnerving. Just the occasional "boo" type of sudden "fright". I'll tell you one thing though, the "Smog" enemies are so goddamn annoying that you'll want to strangle one. I have to admit that while this one is alright, I liked The Room much better. ************* Oh, UFJ, when you get it, watch out when you get to the Otherworld Shepards House. This game can be buggy as all holy hell sometimes, but that place is the worst. If you don't do everything in just the right order you run the risk of getting locked into a game killing glitch or two. This game needed better beta testing. Badly. |
