Its is interesting how in the world of Elder Scrolls simply talking to someone creates a bubble that freezes time. I wonder if any of the other characters notice?

Blogs updated with a new review, this one being of "CSI: Hard Evidence".

I think I need some kind of background or something. A look to the site. I just don't really know how to do crap like that. >_<

By the way, glad you guys liked the Elder Scrolls thing. ^^

CSI games, why did people make them? I think your rating pretty much sums up the entire expierence. I wouldn't even want to touch these games.

You know its funny, I'm actually considering doing a review of an episode of CSI: Miami... one of their worst and most offensive episodes ever. Guess which one? It involved points and stereotypes... lots of stereotypes.

The only CSI I actually liked to any degree is actually the one this game is based on. The original series. The characters stick with you to a decent degree even if the show is a ridiculously inaccurate portrayal of CSI agents. The shows not a classic by any means, but aside from it's patented ridiculousness it's inherantly watchable; though given the choice I'd probably go with a Law and Order every time. My sister wanted to rent this through Gamefly and I figured "what the hell"; it was based off the better series from the overblown franchise, so I figured it would do no harm for me to play it too.

Frankly, it doesn't surprise me that the characters and the cases are the only reason to play the game at all. The Adventure genre is never as intricate as any other game types and never has been, but they're never this simplistic. Going through the game I could only think to myself that I really would rather the stories been made into episodes instead of a game.

I mean, seriously. It's not like the concept is one that absolutely could not work. It's just hard for it to amount to anything when the game is tailored so that even a grandmother who's never touched a video game in her life could beat it. There's got to be some reason to bother with the game other than just story; games like Phoenix Wright mix it up with wit, investigations and the courtroom dramatics. Other Adventure games - especially older ones - have depth to them. This game was just as shallow as a thin stream and that's what kills it.

On CSI: Miami, that show's so very mediocre. They have some good episodes now and then, but it generally depends on how ham-fisted or overblown David Caruso decided his acting should be on that given day. He lost some manner of subtlety in his acting between the time he left NYPD Blue thinking of himself as it's star and the time he turned his tail between his legs and went back to a cop show in CSI.

I totally agree with your review. I had bought the game, ($2 in GameStop's discount bin) and beat the dang thing in half an hour.

Well I'm sure the concept could work if put into the right hands. Its just, like you described, it has to be a bit more interesting.

I mean, some of the best adventure games overcome their linear gameplay with humor. Look at Monkey Island for example.

Okay, so now that I finally have some time on my hands, I got to catch up on your blog, and I must say I found the Elder Scrolls list to be quite hilarious, though I've never played the game myself. And very good job of pointing out why CSI should stay a TV show and does not translate well into the gaming world. I hate it when TV exectutives just crank out junk like this and expect the frachise title to carry the product.

My latest review is up. After giving it a listen, I decided to review Metallica's latest album, Death Magnetic. You can catch my thoughts on it in general in the review itself:

It ain't "Ride the Lightning" or "Master of Puppets", but I'll take it.

Trying something new. I figured every now and then I'd do a "Random Train of Thought" bit on my thoughts regarding, well, anything. First one is up now.

Let me know what you think and whether my thoughts on anything are interesting enough for it to continue.

Also, after reading some professional reviews of music CD's, I'm considering just dropping that from what I review. I just don't really have the technical chops in regards to pointing out specific strengths and weaknesses like others do. At the least, I might make a post now and then with several one paragraph reviews of music CD's, but I don't think I can do good music CD reviews.

Enjoyed that review a lot, dude. It's definitely not "Ride the Lightning"; but it's much, MUCH closer than they have been.

Broken, Beat & Scarred is my favorite track on the album.

Suicide and Redemption was my favorite. It was just so damn awesome to have an instrumental on a Metallica album again. It's definitely been missed.

Did you notice the wonky production values? It was a little jarring. Some instruments sounded louder than the others. It was kind of a WTF moment for me.
