People! I know what's going on!

Beast Boy is being controlled by Mentok the Mind Taker!

And Terra is taking advantage of brain dead Beast Boy! And wants to really make him brain dead like...zombie-brain dead! So that she can take him back to the underworld with her!

And the only one that can stop her is Raven! Because it's such a typical plot and who else would we rather have save him?!

And if that's not it...and I don't know what the hell is.

August 26?? Gahhh. I would let us not jump to conclusion until we can get a hold of the issue...but August 26 is too damn far away so lets continue to speculate.

In all seriousness...I really think something's whacked with BB. Cause honestly, while it may be his ex, she is nonetheless a zombie...with very bad acne.

...I still say it's Mentok.

Oh and what's with the shining (shiiinnnneee) ring on Terra's finger?

Don't take the cover to mean anything, they rarely depict what will actually happen in the comic itself. Any way you look at it, I think this is going to be something used to add drama to the GarxRae storyline. Seems that's where all the pieces are being arranged for.

The cover probably doesn't mean anything more than a tease to induce reading... However, that doesn't take away from how disturbing the cover is.

Also you are certainly right that any return Terra might make would only fuel the BB/R relationship.

The comic certainly seems to be building the couple up in a sense. If not bulding it, they definately aren't letting the idea dissapeare, what with Gar talking about being shot down throughout all of Deathtrap. In addition, since "Titans" started, Raven hasn't really had any significant contact or dialogue with anyone else but Beast Boy.

This cover, nor any other reason, is worth losing hope. The only thing to worry about is how well the writing will be when things continue down the course they're on...

I haven't been worried about the relationship for a long time now. In truth, if they were going to drop it, DC would have done it already. They had a clear ticket to do it with OYL if they wanted to when they were basically nuking status quo's left and right anyways; they didn't and it came back.

It'll be around, I'm sure. Other fans, however, need more reassurance than I do, sadly.

Well, there are whispers that the guy writing this, JT Krul, might be the ongoing writer. So this might be the first taste of our possible new writer. Hopefully the writer is good.

Apparently, Krul has mentioned preferring Geoff Johns versions of these characters.

On Blackest Night on the whole, I think I'm going to end up skipping it and tradewaiting. As some of you might know, I stopped buying any and all comics back when Bruce Wayne "died" in Final Crisis; I was kind of depressed. I've thought of jumping back in, but with Dick Grayson of all people as the new Batman and my current investment in Green Lantern a bit low, I doubt it will hurt me much to just wait on it like I did Sinestro Corps.

I haven't quite made up my mind about this mini though; I might pick this up.

I've read a few of his series of Soulfire, which was one of his works, plus that Posion Ivy oneshot in Joker's Asylum was freaky. This guys pretty good. If what you say is true, that he prefers Geoff characters, then I all up for this guy. I just hope Kurl understands what we want in my letter to the editors.

Depressing, yes, but not surprising. Hell, Bucky became Capt. America after Rogers bit it. Dick may be a Dick, but I don't anyone else fit for the job.

No kidding. I understand that they are trying to allude to his outfit he wore during the new teen titans (which was derived from his doom patrol uniform) But it didn't even work then.

With his green skin and hair, that incredibly bright red makes him look like a blasted Christmas Tree.

Not a matching set of colors, I'll admit. But what bothers me the most about the costume is that fact that the artist keep changing Gar's appearance and the style of the costume. In the first few, he wore white boots with a red claw on each shoulder, and had mutton chops and body hair. Now, no shoes at all (which works for me), same hair cut like he had in the Marv days, and seems to look younger.

This is actually the first I've heard of the guy. I had skipped the Jokers Asylum stuff and I don't even know what Soulfire is. If you say he's good, then it works for me.

And I wouldn't worry. If he likes Geoffs version of the characters, he likely is for GarxRae. I mean, hell, GarxRae was the only real progressive plot the older Titans were given back then anyways; everything else was a Young Justice wankfest.

Except Bucky proved himself worthy in the role of Captain America. Dick has never really been worthy.

Joker's Asylum is basically the only writing of his I can remember. Soulfire ended a few years ago and I just read them to expand my chose in comic universes. All in all, this guy main background is with Aspen MLT and Top Cow. Kurl's pretty good when it comes to magic, so that's gonna come in handy with Raven. Plus he's already written with a character similiar to Gar's personality.

Huh. Well, it's cool to see him get a shot with one of the big boys. Should be interesting to see what he can do.

I really need to look into more Top Cow series...

Yeah, I would appreciate some consistancy in Gar's desing. However at least you can still distinguish him. With the current artist, Wally and Roy look near identical when out of costume. I'm sure the one with messier hair is usually Roy, but I'm not riding any money on that...

For my tastes, the best art this series has seen was in the first wo issues (and the Titans east one shot)

I liked Gar's sideburns (particularly since facial hair is rather rare in DC heroes and it really helped set him apart) However, I can't see how they were able to take away his body hair. I mean not only does it make sense to have the "guy who turns into animals" be a bit "furrier" but if you go back to the old stories Like Terra Incognetto and Judas Contract Gar is drawn as being harier than any of them. Which is really saying something considering he was about 16 in those stories.

I liked Julian Lopez - the guy who did 5, 6 and 7 - the best. His art was far from perfect, but it tended to work well for the most part. There's also no reason to think he wouldn't improve as things went along.

I'm not usually an Ian Churchill fan, but he probably ranks with Lopez as the best the series has had so far. Shame he hurt himself. We've had so many different artists since that it's getting slightly ridiculous.

Wow! Thank you for that. I have been so dissatisfied with Porter that I completely forgot about how good Lopez's work was.

He did have a great, steady style. Kept the characters consistant and real, but not letting that limit his choices where art and style were concerned. It reminds me of Cassaday's work on Astonishing X-men.

As for Porter, was I the only one who had a problem with how he did womens eyes? They were way too wide. Or long. Whichever conveys horizontal space. It made me think he was trying to make them anime style but still have them fit proportionately on a human head. Kory's eyes didn't look so bad because she doesn't have any irises or pupils, but Donna and Raven's looked too unreal.

Concerning future art, I even wouldn't be upset if the guy who did all of "Deathtrap" continued with the title once the one shots are done. Long and short of it, I should be happy as long as Porter doesn't return. He's done some good stuff, but not on this title.

Part of Porters problem was that this was his first assignment after a major career threatening hand injury. It screwed up his nerves so bad that he had to re-teach himself how to draw. I thought he was getting better as things went along, but I wouldn't really mind another artist either.

Back when Lopez was the fill in artist for those three issues, I was honestly hoping they would make him the permanent. Porter did a fine job - especially given the circumstances - but Lopez really wowed me. I'd never even heard of him before the assignment and when he left all I knew was I wish he had more work with the title.

Right now I'm not picky on artists. If they can draw Gar resembling an adult and have a good, consistent style I'll take them. All the artist changes are really hurting the book, I feel.
