Catherine Hardwicke says in DVD commentary that she thinks there will be anime

Sci Fi Wire, the website of America's Sci Fi Channel (soon to be renamed Syfy), reports that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke said that she thinks "there's going to be an anime version" of Twilight in Japan. During the DVD audio commentary for the finale of the high school vampire drama film, the following exchange took place:

Actor Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen): I look Asian in this scene. I do, I look like an anime character.

Hardwicke: Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you will be an anime character.

Hardwicke directed the live-action film adaptation of the first book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novel series. She is not currently slated to direct the films for the remaining books in the series. The Twilight DVD and Blu-ray Disc will ship on March 21 in North America. Summit Entertainment, the production company for the Twilight film, is also distributing IMAGI's computed-animated film version of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy (Mighty Atom) manga and anime in North America on October 23.

LOTR kinda began as an animated series. Much of the film used live-action footage which was then rotoscoped to produce an animated look It may not have been anime, but it looked just as horrid.

As for a Harry Potter series, (clears throat) funny you should mention that. Talk out there is that it's probable that an animated series would come out as soon as the movies are done and gone.

Someone just call a vampire slayer please. Buffy! Where you at when the world is being plagued by sexually fustrated teenage vampires?!

EDIT: HP animated series? Wouldnt mind that one really. I'm thinking american animated, since I can't envision it as an anime.

I wouldn't mind a Harry Potter animated series, as long as it stayed out of the trend and stuck to western animation, and as long as it didn't drag on for too long. There were only seven books, after all.

She died in the end, duh. XD Don't know how though. YAY Buffy Spoiler! -_-'

For a long time now, I've heard about the Twilight Manga series, though I wasn't sure if it was telling the actual story.

Why are they making an animated series, though? Probably for more money because psycho fan-girls will go crazy over it. ESPECIALLY the otaku psycho fan-girls.

Yay. The world is dissolving slowly into madness. Ironic part is, I actually LIKE the Twilight series, even though it could have been better.

Go ahead, I won't stop you. Throttle me. *rolls eyes* I think that the stories could have been MUCH better. See, they sound to me like the first drafts of a series of short stories that was due weeks ago for you creative writing class.

Stephenie Meyer didn't really have anyone to tell her where the stories needed fixing. SO that resulted in a series of low-quality books that could have been worked into something awesome, but wasn't.

The end. ^^

Does the idea of a "vampire" that glows like a diamond in the sunlight appeal to you then? :P

Not really. I figure that could have been worked better. Maybe if she better explained WHY they sparkle? Or the significance of the sparkling skin? Meh.

I think what she was trying to do was to make the idea of vampires seem a little less cliche, though she did it in a fruity way. But I'm sure they're fun to look at and make fun of! :D

Just look at sparkly Edward in the movie! Through that entire scene, I had to resist the urge to sing, "Twinkle, twinkle little star."
