Final Fantasy Spirits Within had a great animation, and the movie, it wasn't all too bad I guess. And Toriyama didn't have any role in the DB:E, they only invited him once to the studio to check out how everything was going. And yeah D's right, if Toriyama was on board, the movie wouldn't be anything like it is. But all the actors and staff members have stated in interviews that DB: E will be an adaption of the original anime, so we're not to expect it to be a representation of the anime. After hearing them state that, made me feel a bit better, I guess I'm fine with it being a different version of DB so to say.
Actually, you're right about the slacker thing, I think that's one thing Reeves can get right. As for the other aspects of Spike's character, well, I didn't know Reeves was a fan of the show but if he really is then I think he definitely will take this role seriously and try to get it right. It's kinda like the same preassure Justin Chatwin has for playing Goku, an anime icon. Gonna be the same for Reeves I think since Spike is such a loved character. Oh and no word on the rest of the cast, the movie is still in early pre-production stage. |

I think he'll do allright. Like Ghetto said, he plays a good slacker and it would fit. So I suppose he deserves a shot. |

I think he's a good pick for Spike. *agrees with jedi and Ghetto* I wonder who Faye would be? |

That's a good question. I can't think of too many women who can pull off a convincing Faye. She's pretty unique. They'd have to find someone who can handle her sass, yet looks drop dead gorgeous and can act seductive. All of this is necessary as they are indeed a part of Faye's character. |

Before my biggest fear was the cast they'd choose, but with Watanabe and other onboards as well, well majority of my fears have died down. I am quite eager as well to see who they choose for Faye. Might be interessting if they chose a Singaporean actress, since that is where Faye is from. EDIT: OOH! Something I would really like for them to do for this films soundtrack, is to bring back Yoko Kano, the Seatbelt and all the other musician from the original soundtrack. Like Mai Yamnae, Steve Conte, and all the various others. Man that'd be so sweet. |
