I may not like Dick Grayson, but at least I'm not stupid enough to make a pathetically attempted spin off of him. Not even his most crazy fans would think this is a good idea. http://tv.ign.com/articles/915/915079p1.html Number one problem with this, Clark Kent had super powers as a teenager and was always a super hero in some respects. Dick Grayson was a travelling circus acrobat who had never even thought about fighting crime until his parents bought the farm. What exactly is this show suppose to be about then? No one cares about Dick Grayson's life before he became Robin. What si there to know? What is there to even talk about? Obviously someone didn't watch this Family Guy sketch Worst superhero TV show idea ever. Next why don't we have a show about Peter Parker's life before the spider bit him, when all he is is just a powerless pushed around geek with no social life. How about the Fantastic Four when they were normal? Better yet, the Flash before he became super fast! The Green Lanterns before the rings chose them, lets remove all the fantasy and wonder that made Smallville interesting and fun and replace it with boring everyday teenage angst we can get on twenty other tv shows! Seriously, I could come up with a better prequel series then this. Captain America during WWII, there, simple, its in the past when he's not as big a hero, before many of the original heroes were born and keeps its comic book feel! Better yet, how about this, Wolverine's past! That has lots of time to cover! Hell heres a better superhero series altogether, Teen Titans, live action, how about that? No? You're sticking with Robin before he even becomes Robin. God, and we though Hollywood had bad ideas. |

More pointless then stupid if ya ask me. Fore example, I DARE anyone to think of Dick Grayson WITHOUT the involvement or mentioning of Batman. Plus, just because he’s the first batspawn, doesn’t mean his story is more energizing then others. Hell, Beast Boy’s childhood has more tragedy and drama (and murder) then Dick’s.
A Doom Patrol series, Wonder Woman's past, the past titles of Blue Beetle, Lobo's killin n'doings, a series about the New Gods, a series about Batwoman (Cain, not Barbara), hell, maybe a series of when Dick was freakin Nightwing. COME ON DC, we got better ideas here, TAKE THEM.
I think the new Wolverine movie is pretty much gonna cover all that stuff. Oh, and the CA movie movie too.
I think Smallsville is as close as we're gonna for a TT live action, and I'm not sayin that cause of Vic and Barry in the series. |

Oh look. The CW wants to do Dawsons Creek using the recognizable name of Dick Grayson. How wonderful. This is just what I want to spend my afternoons watching. What a pathetic idea. If they really wanted to do something with the Bat side of things, they should have considered a show focusing on Bruce's years between his parents death and becoming Batman. His world travels and experiences, learning different forms of martial arts and discipline could make for a good long running series. But instead they come up with this. But what the hell. For all I know, it could be popular for them. They still have Smallville for christ sakes; and that show went into territory Clark wasn't supposed to encounter until he was Superman a long time ago. Watch. If they do have Dick become Robin or the like at some point in the show, they may just skip Batman entirely and have Dick go right to Nightwing. And before you think "oh, they wouldn't do that", remember they completely changed Catwoman for the film to the point where she was unrecognizable and had no connection to Batman; and she's as tied to him as any of them. |

Point taken, but its still a shitty idea. I like yours with Bruce better. At least one good thing came out of this article, knowledge that Robin will NOT appear in the Christopher Nolan films. |

Well, we knew he wasn't going to before now. Christopher Nolan is going for a far more realistic vibe with his movies. He outright statesd a kid in a colorful circus costume accompanying a man dressed like a Bat would be ridiculous in the universe he's created in his films. |

This is just depressing. With all the talented minds DC has (I think there's some in there somewhere), you'd think we'd get something great out of them for once. But, no, just more disappointment after another. Hell, Marvel's already got them beaten in the animated department; Spectacular Sipder-Man, HulkVS?, Wolverine & The X-men, even a new Iron Man series. |

Keep in mind this isn't even greenlit yet dude. It may not even get any furthur. Remember Aquaman? That show even had a pilot and was still killed before it went into full production. |

I'm hoping it doesn't get any further. I'd rather have DC focus on animated features, New Frontier was awesome, they need to get back on the wagon and start work on their other projects soon. And by that I mean Teen Titans Judas Contract. |

Apparently, they still fully intend to do Judas Contract. But at the moment, other things are taking precedence. I'm figuring they want to get out an animated film of Green Lantern and Flash at least, some of the big characters, before focusing on B list things like Teen Titans. The animated films have been succesful though, so if said trend continues, they intend to branch out far more. Wonder Woman is next on the slate, written by Gail Simone. Evidence points to Green Lantern being next after that. |

Okay, Dick's parents died when he was eight. So in this show he's what, seven? Even with adaptive licence he can't realistically be older than ten if this is before he became the BOY Wonder. EDIT: I just read the article at the top. Lame. Also, Smallville is forbidden to use Batman? I was looking forward to Bruce Wayne cameoing in the last episode or something. I mean, you have Superman going for God knows how many seasons and you never unite the world's finest? That's terrible. |

It's got to be the Bat Embargo. DC for some reason made it so that Batman's supporting cast could not appear in more than one series at a time. Plus it made things extremely weird with Batman himself. This is why they stopped using Batman supporting cast, including Joker and Nightwing (who I hear they wanted to use), in Justice League as of the switch to JLU onward. Joker was a recurring enemy in The Batman, while Robin/Dick Grayson was tied up by the Teen Titans animated series. It's really the only reason I can imagine that Smallville has been forbidden to use Batman, as there's the new Batman series coming up; The Brave and the Bold. *************** http://shortpacked.com/d/20081007.html Bwa ha ha! |
