Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen; AutoBots, Roll Out

All we heard was rumors, but now, COMFIRMATION. Transformers 2 is comin our way next summer. Entitled as “Revenge of the Fallen”, this film has been through development-hell and almost dropped since the Writers Guild of America strike, as well as possible strikes by the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild.

Bay, however, managed to met his shooting date with the help of animatics and a scriptment by his favorite writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and the series newcomer Ehren Kruger.

Good news is with a bigger budget and the special effects worked out, the Transformers will have a larger role. Bad news is a lot of Transformers we thought and hoped would make it, didn’t make it. Sorry, Jazz doesn’t come back and no Dinobots (apparently, Orci claimed they could not justify the Dinobots' choice of form). DAMN.

Megatron, however, makes his return as a Cybertronian tank. Barricade comes back too, how? I don’t know.

As far as the premise goes, Roberto Orci described the film's theme as the Autobots confronting "being away from home", with the focus between the robots and humans "much more evenly balanced". The tone will be similar to the first film, but "the stakes will be higher". In short, something similar to the Transformers Animated plot, with new Bots and Cons. Who they are??? Well, here’s a somewhat confimed list:

-Arcee- transforms into a 2006 Buell Firebolt motorcycle
-Soundwave & Ravage (possibly Laserbeak too) – weather or not their gonna be their 1980s toy line selfs is still being muddled over
-The Constucticons, DEVISTATOR Y’ALL
-The Fallen- If you're not familiar with him, he's one of the 13 original Transformers that Primus created at the dawn of time. Unfortunately he turned against his siblings, his creator, and his universe and betrayed them all. This guy is one nasty robot - and he's on fire, literally!
-Still some rumors of an aircraft-carrier guy somewhere.
-Other robots include Autobot "Twins" who transform into an ice cream van (their names will be determined in post-production, as the dialogue can be re-recorded with the animation); an Autobot Chevrolet Trax; an Audi R8; and there will be some robots who can transform into weapons.

It's probably for the best that the Dinobots weren't in this movie. Considering how the Transformers aquire their alternate modes in the film universe, it'd be a bit of a b#tch to try and plausibly explain where they would find something dino related to scan without it coming off as completely contrived.

Megatron as a tank has my complete attention. Far as I'm concerned, no other form suits the leader of the Decepticons better.

Actually, bringing Barricade back is a simple matter. He was never destroyed. In fact, he kinda just disappeared around the halfway point.

Well, they could've done the TA route and have them as animatronic dinosaurs come to life. Those things are everywhere. But, hey, we got a good cast to make up for it. I'm just glad on the whole "Bots have a bigger role" thing. The first film was great n'all, but I can't really tell what I was watching unless something big and robotic came on screen.

I really, really liked the first film, but it definitely had it's flaws, mostly centered around the lack of Transformers. I think I recall one of the webcomic series calling it Dawsons Creek guest starring the Autobots.

That's a bit more insulting than I thought was necessary, but it was unfortunately relatively accurate. I'm there to see robot brawlin', so here's hoping that's what most of this sequel involves.

The first movie was an overall great film, but it wasn't without its flaws.

Like... what was with the hacker storyline? It felt tacked on. I mean, the movie could've done well without it. We didn't need it in there.

I could have been an Extra in this. They filmed it in Bethlehem, which is like 30 mins away from where I live, and they needed extras. I didn't find out in time though.

I think it was really just there to kill time. Really, it was worthless to the overall plot, but considering the films budget, there was only so much CG work they could do, limiting the Transformers, which likely accounts for the relatively useless bits.

You could have removed the hacker scenes and the movie would barely have been affected at all.

Oh, that comic? Yea, that's VGCats.com. They go overboard on everything, think I saw something on TAS in there.

Holy. Hell.

That looked sick.

Here's hoping this film is even better than the first one; which was already pretty good.

That guy with the giant wheels is gotta be a Contructicon, can't think of any other vehicles out there but construction builders that have wheels that big.

they did say bigger roles for the Autobots, after seeing this, that's a definite confirm. I'm still hoping that aircraft carrier in the beginning transformers. X3

The trailer looks great, but is it true that the movie is going to be rated R? Jay told me it was and my face practically fell, I don't wanna see it with my mom lol

I highly doubt it. Transformers is generally a property aimed at kids. The highest I can ever see it getting is PG-13. And that is probably a stretch.

*epic groan*

What is with directors lately and considering, or actually going through with in this case, bailing on the franchise after it's second installment? First Christopher Nolan is considering not returning to direct the sequel to "The Dark Knight", now this.

This is starting to piss me off.
