When Worlds Collide

I'd just like to say "wow".

It seems like a pretty awesome Idea. And I really like the Idea of Superman Vs Scorpion. Though you gotta wonder how that would work...

They justify it by saying its magic. Really, thats the deus ex machina for all forms of media entertainment. Why is that cat flying? Magic! Why are the vegetables talking? Magic! The dead have risen from their graves! Magic! Houses have come alive and are eating people! Magic! Superman is beaten up by Scorpion! MAGIC!

You get the picture. Although it is canonically true, Superman is effected by magic. Its one of those things he can't fight against, at least not alone.

I dislike most crossovers in fanfiction, and therefore I'm a little biased against a crossover game...

I suppose it will be kind of cool, but I've seen the amount of available characters pannels for each side, and I really wish there were more...

Those are just the ones announced so far, Sign. Be patient. We're supposed to get a couple announced at San Diego this weekend.

In regards to the roster, if Lobo is not a part of this game, I will go on a rampage. Not including The Main Man in a violent game like this would be an absolute crime against humanity. Fatalities, brutalities and babes with their boobs hanging out is the kind of environment Lobo is tailor made for; and he'd whup everyone.

He's the Main Man, bastich! >=3

Well, something I forgot to post: four more characters for the game were confirmed at San Diego Comic Con.

For Mortal Kombat: Jax and Kitana.

For DC: Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) and The Joker.

The Joker?

The freakin' Joker?!

Not that I'm complaining, but does he excel at all in hand-to-hand combat? Or uh... kombat, I should say.

He's gone toe to toe with Batman a few times. He's no proficcient martial artist or anything, but Joker knows how to fight. Plus, he lends himself very well to Mortal Kombat's basic infrastructure, considering his gimmicks and deadly "jokes" lend themselves horribly well to the concept of special moves. Acid burning the opponent, mallets; you get the picture.

Hell, one of the best animated fight's I've ever seen came from the Joker. RotJ's final battle between he and Terry? Gold. Better than just about any other animated fight scene, even years later.

You know, since Joker is the first DC villain here, I'm wondering if we're going to get any more. Lex Luthor would probably be a likely candidate. He's a formidible opponent in his warsuit.

Who here thinks Joker's "fatality" move will have him spraying his opponents with some Joker venom while they literally laugh to their deaths?

Personally, I thought one of the greatest animated fight scenes in any franchise was the fight between Leo and Raph in TMNT. I consider it to be right up there with Terry and Joker.

He'll be walkin' in the ring, fighting Superman with some metal gloves with Kryptonite ingrained into them I'll bet.

That'll probably be one. I hope there's another one in the pike too, however. One of the things I hated about Deadly Alliance was only one fatality per character; can't tell you how happy I was when Deception ramped it back up to two per again.

Mmm, I think that one was right around there, but something kind of felt off about it. I know the message they were trying to send was that Leo was not willing to go all the way once he found out it was his brother he was fighting and Ralph almost did anyways, but I think it could have been telegraphed a bit more.

Compared to the emotion running high in the final battle between Joker and Terry, it wasn't quite the same. Laser was coming right at the warehouse they were in; niether would let the other leave and Terry was locked in a brutal fight with his mentors most vicious and deadly adversary. To say the stakes were running high along with emotions is putting it mildly.

It was just one of the most well done fight scenes I'd ever seen; and is probably the pinnicle of animated battles, whether we're talking just Batman or even stuff as great as Avatar.

Something like that. If Lex ends up in the game, I'm betting he'll have a lot of technology based moves. Lasers and stuff like that.

Here, here. And for his "brutality" move, I'd bet the ol' acid-squirting flower trick, or maybe a giant mallet. Yea, I know that's basically Harley's trick, but we've seen Joker pull that thing out every now and then.

Joker and Bat's is a plus, but ya gotta wonder what the supers (super powered heros) are gonna dish out, or if they HAVE a brutality or a fatality. Well...actually they will have those, this being MK n'all, but still, these are DC heroes we're talking about. I don't think I can see Batman or Superman ripping someones head and shoving it up their :scared: .

The superhero's won't have fatalities. The brutalities are theirs. It's like a fatality, only there's no death or anything. They just finish their opponent within an inch of their life while still leaving them alive.

It really does sound like Midway has the bases covered when it comes to this sort of thing. Which is good; because I was kind of worried for a while there.

The Joker will definately be my favorite DC character to play as. I doubt it, but mayber he'll give Scorpion a run for his money in my list of favorite Kombatants...

I always thought Brutalities were like super-fatalities though...Like massacring the enemy to the point where it's just rediculous and yet so satisfying...

Does anyone know if there'll be storylines for each individual character? I hope so, because I don't see how these two worlds could possibly collide...

I'm not sure on individual storylines, but the main story is being written by two well known comic writers. Good ones too; Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti. So whatever the story will be, it'll at least be servicable.

Somebody should have asked about individual storylines at SDCC, now that you've got me thinking about it.

That was how they were in the old days. When I mean old days, I mean Mortal Kombat 3, Trilogy and Gold.
