Japanese magazine Famitsu have new screenshots of the game, most of them focusing on the combat in the game.

Oh dear. Sonic, you can clearly do all this without that blade of yours.

Ooh, and it looks like he has that downward kicking move from Brawl.

As part of a video shown at a Nintendo conference, the first video footage of Sonic and the Black Knight has been shown.

The game might be going through a name change. Perhaps, due to the English title translating to "Sonic and the Dark Warriors" in Japanese.

The first official Sonic and the Black Knight trailer, which was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show. Includes some interesting CG footage, as well as some gameplay footage.

Can't say the song doesn't sound cheesy though. It sounds like it's inspired by the Power Rangers. Or one of the Pokemon themes.

Still, it's good to hear that Crush 40's back in the game, so to speak.

I was hoping this was all just a great big joke. Sadly, Sega has no sense of humor. Only an eye for torture.

I'd prefer someone else do some music, really. Crush 40's been the Sonic theme runners for years and years now.

Take Sonic out and put in an original character, and that game looks awesome.

I'm still not too fond of the idea of Sonic having a sword myself, as I've expressed countless times. Now, I just hope the gameplay is at least decent.

*looks at Black Knight*

HOLY SH#T, HE LOOKS EVEN MORE MENACING IN THE TRAILER!! AND THAT HORSE OF HIS!!

Is Sonic really meant to go up against someone who looks that scary?!

Yeah, I guess they need to take a break. The last time they did a song for one of the games, I believe, was this game's prequel, Sonic and the Secret Rings, the song being their cover of "Seven Rings in Hand". And it wasn't even in the game! They managed to sneak it into the True Blue compilation album.

Even so, I seem to like this song in an odd way. The tune sounds incredibly cheesy, and Power Rangers-inspired, but goddamn if it isn't catchy. It isn't gonna leave my head now.

Plus, I do like (some of) the lyrics, which partially represent Sonic's personality. A lot of it just seem to be, again, Power Rangers- or Pokemon-inspired.

Like a sword I run
Into the heat of day
Like a knight I fight
Until the fight is won

In the rein I save
Each and every
Each and every
Each and every one
'Til this war is won

And I'm meant to rule
By the sword
Slashing through the every inch of the power
The power in you

As I said, as I stand
By the veil, I command
My kingdom
I'm the knight of the wind
The knight of the wind

Yeah. Don't even try to tell me that a lot of that isn't cheesy.

New screens of the game.

Why does it look like his downward kick animation is taken from Brawl?

Because it probably is. SEGA is known, especially these days, for recycling old animations or enemies several times over. It would not surprise me to learn they copied that off of Brawl.

Tell me about it. I was playing Sonic 06, and I noticed:"Hmm.. those mini Iblis worms look and play alot like the Black Arms worms in Shadow the Hedgehog...." And then I looked at the "new" Unleashed trailer Soni posted, and saw that there were mini Dark Gaia type worms exactly like the other two games.

Full list of the winners of the Black Knight fan art contest came in.

I, unfortunately, am not one of those winners. Yeah. It sucks, big-time.

Aww man. Tommy Tallarico? And here I wanted to ignore this game. Now I may have to give it a look just for the music.

Dammit Tommy...

We've got a couple of release dates swirling around for this game already, but this release date information comes from Amazon. So, I don't know if they're the actual dates, we'll have to wait for Sega's word.

Anyway, according to Amazon, the US release date for Black Knight is March 10th, 2009. That's a Tuesday, which is a day where games usually see release.

And the UK release date is apparently April 24th, 2009. A Friday, and again, that's a day new games are usually released, over in the UK.
