I must say that it wasn't really the objectives or the size that pissed me off about Knuckles levels in SA2. The problem was that the shard indicator worked differently. It would only detect the shards in order, unlike Sonic Adventures system. This meant you could fly right by a shard, but oh boy! You wouldn't even know it!

That and that alone killed the Knuckles hunting missions. They could have been fun if it weren't for that.

Yeah, Knuckles' levels in the first game was a lot more free with the indicator and such. A shame SA2 restricted it.

Interviews state that Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Shadow are part of the story of Unleashed and will be playable in some form or another. Small segments, if you will.

The only time they'll be playable is when you accept side missions from people in the hub areas of the game, or at least so I've heard.

I can live with that. I was only annoyed with SA2 with the side characters. It was horribly restrictive. It didn't matter if you wanted to play as a different character or not, dammit, you were gonna do it.

Sonic Adventure at least gave you the option. If this does too, then it's all good.

Oh boy was SA2 more restrictive. I really like the Sonic and Shadow levels. The Tails and Eggman levels were an interesting idea, but the mechs were hard as hell to control. And the Knuckles and Rouge levels were just outright boring and frustrating.

Character selection in Sonic games kind of fluctuated throughout the Sonic games after Adventure 2. In Sonic Heroes, it was nice that you could control three characters at once, I guess. What really got Sonic fans all hyped up was the return of the Chaotix crew.

Shadow the Hedgehog only allowed you to play as Shadow, which makes some sense, since it was all about Shadow.

There was a vast selection of characters in both of the Sonic Riders games, some of which came from other Sega games, but you could only play as a select few of them in their story modes. And the story modes went the way of SA2 in that you switched to different characters as you went on. I know there's barely a difference in how the characters played, but why couldn't they just let you pick the character you wanted to play as at the beginning of each race in the story, like how Brawl did it in Subspace Emissary, before you started each level.

It became complex in Next-Gen. For instance, while you chose to play through Sonic's story, you'd still come to a part where you're forced to play as Tails or Knuckles.

Secret Rings' story mode featured Sonic as the only playable character, whereas a bunch of different others were playable in the game's party mode.

I liked the wide selection of characters in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, good variety, plenty to choose from.

Same can be said for Sega Superstars Tennis.

So, as far as being allowed to choose a character... eh. It kind of fluctuated throughout the games. Now, Unleashed is being a lot more optional again.

That was the one thing that I think hampered Adventure 2 in comparison to it's predecessor. It was simply way too restrictive. Sonic Adventure had a lot to see and do, but one of it's strengths is that you got to CHOOSE what it was you wanted to do at any given time.

SA2 forced you to play as the character it wanted you to play as. No bones about it.

The Action stages, as limited as they were, werre indeed still fun though. The bad doesn't outweigh the good enough that SA2 was a bad game. But I'm still of the opinion it was all downhill from there.

Hopefully Unleashed is the start of an upswing.

My absolute favourite parts about Sonic Adventure and Sonic Next-Gen were the hub areas. They allowed you to freely explore the areas, and let you do whatever. And now, they're being brought back in Unleashed. I wanna see some more of that.

You really freak out about the Chao Gardens, don't you?

They'd be a nice addition in Unleashed, I guess.

Actually, you want my opinion on Chao Gardens? They're nice to have, but they're not really needed.

..........not........ needed?..........!!!!

Oh well. That's your opinion. Me and my friend would stay at each other's houses for a couple days, and we would sit and play his gamecube for litterally what was 30 hours without sleep, playing the crap out of the chao gardens. We would play without end until we were unhealthily puking, but that's over now. Good times.

Well, everyone has different tastes. Again, if the Chao Gardens do make it in Unleashed, then it's a nice bonus. If not, meh. It's not that big of a loss.

Sorry about my double posting... but....

August 2nd, Camp Sonic unleashed a new story about a magazine called gamemaster. In their September issue, they dubbed Sonic Unleashed "A 5/5." The #1 game they wanted.

Nothing new jumps out at us, but something worth noting is that Sonic Unleashed definitely impressed the folks at GM.

Yeah. Check this.

Their only complaints about the game was the lack of multiplayer and online leaderboards (which I have a feeling may be more of an assumption the way they stated it)

Sorry.. just thought I'd post.
