Those screenshots just reinforce for me that I like how the game is looking. It looks pretty slick overall. A vast graphical improvement. Still hung up on how the game will play, though. I'm worried about those werehog sections. Those could be the game breaker. |

Yeah. That's supposed to be one of the major plot points. It's also what I'm most concerned about. Sonic as a whole has always had an element of speed to it, in one degree or another. The werehog sections have a possibility of slowing down the game and, depending on how they do it, could make for jarring transitions. It's rather troublesome overall. If SEGA weren't so reliant on gimmicks lately, this could be a great straight up Sonic game. |

Pf. I ain't worried about the Werehog sections. They look decent enough. Plus, the Werehog is supposed to be slow, so there you go. The idea of beat-em-up sections in a Sonic game intrigues me a little. The only thing about this game I'm really worried about are the regular daytime sections. I started worrying about them around the time of the E3 stage demo, when what's-his-name was playing through the China level, and died a couple times. That worries me. Are they having some of the same problems with the controls or something? I really hope that's not the case and those deaths were just coincidental. Damien? You realize that those cutscene screenshots were before the E3 trailer was released? Look at it, then make the comparison. =P
Yeah, Sonic certainly has come a long way, and the recent games have differentiated themselves from earlier titles. To the large majority of the Sonic fanbase, that's not exactly a good thing. |

Well, it just brings the possibility of unnecesarily jarring transitions. Your zipping along in a stage and suddenly it turns night; bam, we're in beat-em up mode. See where I'm going with this? It's more a gameplay flow problem. Actually, have they shown or told us exactly how the transformation works in game yet? SEGA's kept the werehog stuff pretty tight lipped the last I knew.
Count me among them. After Adventure 2, I really felt something was lost. |

Last time I checked, Sonic isn't going to be transforming into his Werehog form anywhere in the middle of a level. Daytime and nighttime levels are completely separate.
I thought Sonic Heroes was a really good game, but a couple of years after having first played it, I was kind of hoping there'd be a Sonic game that'd be along the lines of X-Men Legends, or Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. |

That actually makes me feel a bit more at ease. Depending on how they play it in regards to level order, it could still pose problems, but I was half afraid this was going to be some kind of mid level thing. That would have really screwed things up.
Said it before and I'll say it again; great concept, bad execution. |

Well, I meant after it is when I thought the series lost something. Though Adventure 2 did have it's problems. A lot of the game was way too straightforward, for instance. A lot of the Action stages with the hedgehogs were very, very linear; noreso than any other Sonic game that I can think of. Tails stages were alright for a change of pace, but it's a case of those jarring transitions I was talking about. That and they could get a bit boring. The treasure hunting missions... The less said about SA2's treasure hunting missions, the better. Fun in the first Sonic Adventure; a pain right in the ass in the second. So, yeah. Adventure 2 did have problems, really. But it was still playable and could be fun; though it wasn't quite as replayable as past games in the franchise had been. |

Oh GOD did I hate Knuckles' and Rouge's levels. A lot of them were time-consuming. Maybe if there was a timer like there was in one of Rouge's levels, it'd actually give you motivation to look for those Master Emerald shards/keys/Chaos Emeralds a lot faster. |

Oh, don't even get me started on those two particular levels. It was frustrating for me, especially when you're moving around on a spherical planet. All of a sudden, it decides to change the controls on you. |

Indeed, I remember playing those levels, they sucked large amounts of crap. I hated spending close to an hour looking for pointless crap. What was enjoyable about that? It was frustrating beyond imagination... and incredibly boring. What were they thinking when they made it exactly? "You know how in platformers you have to collect a bunch of crap? Well lets draw that out to an entire level and make it impossible for you to advance until you find all these little green shards." Bad level design with a very piss poor objective. Kinda like Superman 64. Getting back on topic, since the new gimmick of this game is apparently Sonic turns into a giant werewolf creature at times to beat stuff up how do you think that will work out? Will just be a mindless button masher that will make you yearn for a sonic racing level again? Or will it be practical and fun? |

From what gameplay videos of the Werehog sections have shown, there's supposed to be elements of beat-em-ups, and platformers. Since the Werehog is a lot slower than regular Sonic, asides from beating the crap out of enemies, there will also be plenty of jumping involved, as well as climbing up poles, slowly walking across thin beams that hang above bottomless pits, or swinging by poles, or hanging by ledges... I'm sort of thinking of Prince of Persia here. |
