I heard peeps are waiting in line for it all week. I know that the Wii can detect your movements and everything. I saw the controller, it's weird looking. I wouldnt buy it now though. Someone told me that it starts at 600 dollars. In a couple of years it could drop to at least 400 or 500 dollars.

I got jaked outta a Wii. They were GONE.

Unfortunatly, it looks like I'm going to have to wait until the third wave or so, unless I can get it during the second wave early January, which will be easier, but still pretty tight on the number of consoles.

Probably a good thing though. In actuality the Virtual Console only launched with 11 games. There are more on the way of course, and starting in January ten new games are to be put on the service every Monday, but still. Thats only 11 games right now. XD

Besides, the only thing I've really been deperate to get out of the Wii's launch titles is Red Steel and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Not much else interesting at launch. All the interesting stuff is still on its way.

Well, it seems the PS3 got a killer app early. Usually it takes a year or so post launch for a system to get a defining game that shows off the system and is amazingly fun. I'm impressed. O_o

I'm talking about Resistance: Fall of Man. I've looked through screenshots and it looks amazing. It's getting rave reviews from just about everyone and apparently it's online modes are as good as Halo's, if not bettter.

Wow. I'm still not getting the system for awhile, but at least I'll know to get this game.

Yeah. Resistance: Fall of Man looks great. If anyone hears about any games the PS3 can't play, post 'em here, please. I wanna know if I can still play all my favs, or if I'm gonna have to have both systems to play all my games.

Apparently, there are a few that aren't compatible with the system right yet, but apparently Sony is moving to correct this problem. I doubt there will be 100% compatibility, but it can't be worse then the X-Box 360's backwards playability ratio.

I haven't really heard any titles that can't play right now yet, so I can't tell ya. =/

Did anybody here know that Sony is actually LOSING money by having the PS3 at 600 dollars? The Blu-Ray technology is so expensive they are actually losing 200 dollars a system, as it costs about 800 to make one.

Thye are obviously REALLY relying on software to make money here. It's quite a gamble. >_>

I'm gonna wait until I eventually get the PS3 before I get Marvel Ultimate Alliance. For one, I want nothign to do with the X-Box 360 and I'd rather have the regular control scheme for the game, which leaves out the Wii. Plus, while I don't really care about Colossus, I want to play as Moon Knight, so that leaves out the PS2. Yup. Waiting time.

But when I do get the PS3, Resistance: Fall of Man is the first one I'll get. Looks damn good.

PS3 price probably won't drop for a while b/c if they really are loosing $200 a system and are depending on the games to make up th profits, then my guess is neither of those prices are gona head downhill soon. But, that's just my thinking.

I think it will be at least two years before we see ANY real drop in price here in America for that very reason. And trust me darktitan, they are losing money on this. I have confirmation for a lot of sites I've been too.

Apparently, from what I understand, the politics behind this move is that Sony is taking a big hit on the console in the hope they can get a bigger market share. Then they would make up their profits later.

The problem is that this move is VERY risky. Yeah, the PS3 has some killer apps coming, Metal Gaer Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII and Grand Theft Auto IV, plus a lot of interesting looking new games, but for right now, they are in a bit of trouble.

They aren't the first company to try this. Panasonic had an expensive to make system in the 3DO and it was way ahead of it's time, but it never caught on and crashed, nearly taking Panasonic with it. It's happened with other expensive consoles too.

Right now, only Resistance: Fall of Man has shaped up to be worth a damn in the launch lineup, with apparently the Gundam game also being pretty decent.

Though, as I think on it, will they really be in that much trouble? I can guarantee you the DAY MGS4 comes out systems will be flying off shelves no matter what it costs. The same for Final Fantasy XIII. Both of those franchises have a lot of power.

And as I think on it more, Sony is a huge brand, while Panasonic is mildly successful, to be generous. This is the first major brand to try this... and they may actually pull it off.

I get sick to death of the fanboys of the 360 who claim Sony got lucky with 1 and 2 and say they shot themselves in the foot this time. I'll agree this is risky, but fanboys piss me off.

See boys and girls? Fanboys are one of the major reasons DL doesn't go to many forums anymore.

We'll have to see where the future takes us. Even with this though, I doubt Sony will fail. I don't know about them being the leading console this generation, as the Wii seems to be laying claim to that early, but it will at least be second. The Sony brand is a powerful thing.

Yeah, good point. The fanboys need to shut up. Too bad about the price thing, though. Everyone keeps telling me to wait for a price drop. Well, at this rate, the prce won't drop until the next system comes out. Another game on the PS3 that looks pretty good is Assasain's (sp?) Creed. It's coming out sometime next year. (can't remember when) I may get that one, if I have the PS3 by then.

Ive heard of that one. Actually, what has surprised me most about the announced upcoming titles for the PS3 is how many of them not only sound cool as hell, but are NOT legacy games like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid. If most of those turn out to be really good, Sony might not be in trouble at ALL.

Fanboys are the reason I left the IGN forums. Yeah, there are Sony and Nintendo fanboys, but the Microsoft loyalists are the most vocal and utterly annoying of the three. I liken it to the fact that in general, the last Microsoft console wasn't a huge success at all (at one point when it had stopped being made, the Dreamcast outsold it, and I'm not kidding) and the fanboys just got more and more vocal. They toted Halo is "OMG GRATST GME OF AL TIM!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL" and htey were just sickening to watch. You couldn't make so much as a negative comment without being practically attacked. It was everywhere. I just got sick of the place and left. Fanboys piss me off.

Things might already be getting cheaper for Sony and my two year estimate might actually be wrong. They recently announced a date for a price cut of $70 for both kinds of PS3 over in Japan (it's not the usual big price cut, but I can imagine it'll do. XD). It's not really like they needed it either. Anybody keeping track on Japan would know they are selling quite well. I mean, damn, people would literally have fistfights outside the stores trying to get one. XD

No announcement for a US price cut though, though you never know.

Sony's already losing money on the system... I would certainly hope it's getting cheaper to make for them to already be cutting the price. >_>

I've decided myself to save up for the PS3, but even if I have the money I'm going to end up waiting till the time is right. Mainly I would want to wait until a comfortable time after launch when all the bugs would be worked out, some decent games were out. Even at that point, if there was an announced price cut, I'd wait until that.

I'm quite patient.

Yeah, I'll be waiting until they got the bugs fixed too. I'm gonna have to stop saving for a while, though, since Christmas is coming up and I still haven't bought anyone anything. After the 25th, however, the chase is on!

Anybody who has the Wii: How is it? Is it worth the cost? How are the games? Anybody who has the PS3: same questions. I'm hearing a lot of cool things about both systems, so I'm trying to decide which one I really want more.
