Okay, for all you video-gaming freaks (like myself) who own or are looking forward to some of the newest consoles and video game tech coming out, here's where you can talk about 'em. I'm personally saving up for the PlayStation 3. How about you guys? |

Eh... a lot of people are excited about the new age in video games. I myself am a little disheartened by it. The X-Box 360 is not something I'm going to get anytime soon. They really need to pump out stellar games before I'll even consider it and good games they have exclusivly on their systems is quite rare. The Playstation 3... I want it badly, but the problem is price. As much as I want it, there is no way I'm going to be able to conjur up 600 dollars for a video game system. I'm going to have to sit out on that one for quite awhile. I will definitly be getting a Wii, but even as awesome as it sounds, I'm a little disheartened there too. The controller requires batteries for one thing, which will be a pain in the ass when the thing gets low on power and stops working correctly. Another thing that has brought me down there too is the secrecy Nintendo has employed, like always. Little is known about their first party titles and they still haven't confirmed enough for me. Are there going to be Wii games that take advantage of the Gamecube controller too? Thats the one I really wanna know. Yeah, it's innovative and I'm as excited as the next guy, but lets face it, there are times you're really not up to waving something around just to play a game. So basically what I see here is one system that's barely keeping afloat, another that see's serious trouble ahead and one that is innovative, but shrouded in mystery. I find it sad that Microsoft and Sony are so dead set on having the very best graphics money can buy when graphics will never truly save abysmal gameplay. Sony has always delivered for me on quality titles, but I'm shaken and dissapointed at the price point for the PS3. So much money for a system and I'm not even a graphics efficianado. And hanging on to my PS2 won't do much good either. Everyone knows a consoles number of games coming out drops soon enough after a new system comes out. The X-Box 360 would have been a nice alternative, if they had anything really worth a damn. Add on to all this the price of games nowadays. It's finally happened. The gaming afficianados have said it would eventually for years and it finally has. Prices for games have gone up and things are gonna be even more difficult from here on out. Sony's move to keep all games on Blu-Ray discs to screw over game pirates is going to make games cost a ridiculous amount of money. Even on the 360 games are upwards of 60 dollars. Thanks, scuzzy gaming pirates. So the next generation brings dismay and sadness to me. It's getting to a time when good gameplay is hard to find, plus buying games becomes so ridiculously expensive. Video games have always been my escape when life gets to be too much, but it looks like that might just be shot out of the sky. I simply may not be able to afford most games anymore... |

Yeah, I hear you on the pricing problem. I've been saving since May for the PS3 and I've got $370. Guess that's what happens when your only income is from babysitting. Hey, does anyone know what the differences really are between the $500 and $6oo version of the PS3 (besides the memory size)? |

The 500 dollar PS3 is like the Core System of the X-Box 360. A stripped down console and a fools bargain. Basically support for certain extra perherprials will be halves and HDMI support is dropped on the lower costing one entirely. No slot for the PSP memory stick in the lower costing one either. I believe online support takes a hit from the lesser stuff. I would suppose the 500 dollar version is good if you are more inclined for home games and have no intention of using the internet options, but you might change your mind down the road about that and from what I hear, unlike the X-Box 360 core system, you won't be able to upgrade to the full package down the line. As such, I'll probably be going with the more expensive version when I get it eventually, but damn, it's still a hell of a lot... |

I'm only interested in one thing, the wii, nintendo has always made good gaming consoles (cept the DS *cough cough*) The wii is like something totally new and even though it's gonna cost a lot I'd think it's worth it OwO The wii is coming out November, or so one of my friends say as for the other consoles such as the xbox and ps3, well, they piss me off to be honest, theres not much differenece from the consoles before them, I don't really hate the 360 though, it's not bad but it's not good, some games are okay on there. The ps3? I never heard about any difference about the ps3 and ps2, I'll stick to nintendo games and my game boy advance (yes I love game boy games >w<) So practicly the only console that's actualy worth buying is the wii right now |

After seeing and playing the X-Box 360 version of Madden '06, I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. Okay, so it looks pretty. Outstanding. Tom Brady looked like Tom effing Brady. But so what? It played like a crippled box turtle with a busy schedule. PS3's, what, $500? Yeah, I'm not THAT big a gamer. As for the Wii, I'd be willing to buy it, if only for Metroid Prime 3--I mean, I never got through 2, but...it's Metroid Prime, people. Metroid Prime! Still...I doubt I'd ever get used to the controller. It frightens me. Overall, I prefer the previous generation of consoles. |

The Wii will be an interesting addition to anyone's gaming library. The question is whether Sony wise up and bring the price down before the launch. I doubt it though. I want everyone to understand something, the 360 at the moment doesn't have that many original titles coming out. But there are a few that are headed our way that do look enjoyable. Sonic the Hedgehog for instance is coming to the 360. As well as few exclusive titles as well. In the end though I think its really all going to come down to what type of gamer you yourself are. If you are a hardcore gamer you may very well buy the PS3. Everyone is probably going to pick up the Wii to try it out. Mostly because the technology looks awesome. Now shooter and action gamers like myself are probably going to be more into the 360 and the PS3. The question isn't whether someone will or will not buy the Wii, almost everyone is going to buy it because of its buzz. Its whether Sony gamers are going to be willing enough to buy the PS3 and if Microsoft is going to pump out more exclusive titles that people will deem worth buying. In the end, its going to come down to brand loyalties and what gamers want to play. I myself feel envious of some Playstation owners at the moment cause there are few games coming out for that system that look cool. But for me the 360 works, the games appeal to me because I have a preference towards shooters and action titles. Especially when they are really really good. Your best chance? Waiting till Christmas for someone to buy you a PS3 as a gift. Really thats the only way you'll get it...through somebody else. Still I'm happy with what I see coming out in the near future. I'm sure we'll enjoy what we see and play. |

I wish I could get the PS3 for Christmas, but nobody in my family's that generous! I'll porbably just get more gift cretificates to GameStop, since I'll probably still be savin' up! It's expensive, but I think it'll be worth it for hardcore, maniac gamers (like me). |

OKay, since nobody else has said it (and this thread hasn't been picked up in a while), I guess the burden falls on me: the PS3 comes out in 10 DAYS! Unfortunantly, I still need $200, but hey, details, right? |

Hasn't the PS3 been delayed like, 3 times? It looks cool, but I probably won't be getting it. Way outta my price range. |

Not three times. Like two. Besides, compared to the old N64 release fiasco, the PS3 is running right on time. N64 probably had the most delays of any console ever. There are several games I want right off the bat for the PS3 and I do eventually plan on getting one, but it's damn sure not gonna be right away. Probably when the most expensive version drops a hundred to $500. I'm not going for the cheapy version. I want that goddamn Mobile Suit Gundam game. *steals screenshots*

PS3 comes out in three days! The Wii comes out in five! (and I don't have any homework!) If I could just afford it, I'd be the happiest person alive! Oh, well, there's always Christmas!(gift cards are my best friends that day.) |

I'll end up gettng the Wii first for sure, but there are only one or two games at launch I really want for this system. Red Steel and Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess. I'm more excited about the Virtual Console service. The PS3 is totally out of the question for awhile. It'll take forever to save up that kind of money. That, or I wait for it to drop in price, but that usually doesn't happen until a year or two after launch, so... |

Traditionally, the Wii has frightened me due to the controller, but I plan to get it somehow, if only for Metroid. I mean, I never finished the second one, but it's Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime, Montel, it's Metroid Prime!!! I've decided to freeze myself and be unthawed when the Wii is released. It'll be great. Nothing can go wrong. |

I'm merely worried the controller will wear you the **** out before long at all in regards to game play time. I was kinda dismayed when I learned Metroid Prime 3 was being delayed from being a launch title, but I will definitly get it upon release. I'm just hoping the Wii games have options to play with a regular controller, like a Gamecube one or something. I mean, come one, there are gonna be times you just don't feel like waving a remote around to play, innovative or not. |
