I truly love that game. I loved the last on, Tomb Raider: Legend. I loved the graphics in the new ones. And the levels, I'm so obsessed. I can't wait for the other one. Which will be out soon. ^_^ |

Mine was the first one, where you con acquainted with everything. And you learned about her story. My mom had the game around the house somewhere. She just remastered it for like the 100th time since it's been out. Hm.. and I liked the new one, it goes even more in her past!! INCLUDING HER Mother's life and what happened... It's really awesome. |

Wow... This is a series that brings me back... I started with the first game and have played the sequels up to The Last Revelation. My all time favorite is without a doubt the second one. It was simply one of those games that defined great gaming for it's time and even with the troublesome control scheme that to this day is difficult to master, it still proved to be a lot of fun, still holding up today. The last Tomb Raider game I bothered to finish was The Last Revelation. My own personal opinion is that the series took a serious nosedive after III, each sequal becoming more pointless then the last. It merely became more tedious to play through the following games and lacked that certain mystique and feeling of wonder II and III could inspire. The Last Revelation turned me off mainly because it became so very dark in it's setting. Everything seemed to be shrouded in darkness and it became difficult to make things out sometimes, while the previous games could find a suitible balance in the darker sections. By TLR and Chronicles, another major gripe I had was the games had simply become too routine. Nothing had really changed at all since the game was first introduced and I'm not like most males. Cheesecake (its a term for female fanservice, if you don't know) is not enough to sustain my interest. I simply became bored and frustrated wth the series and never bothered to even finish Chronicles. Angel of Darkness was just a mess period. At this point Core had run the damn series directly into the ground, with so many pointless sequels that had ceased being any real fun awhile ago. Things were a mess too. There were conversation options of course, but early on you realize there aren't any real paths you can take at all. On an early one, you get in a conversation with someone and are presented with options, but if you so much as deviant from the set answers your shot in the face and killed instantly. Yeah, real open ended guys. In general, I don't bother paying attention to the Tomb Raider games anymore. I am aware that Crystal Dynamics heads the game development now and a new game is coming out soon, if it isn't already, but I'm not optimistic about how the series will turn out anymore. Who knows. They might surprise me. The movies are another matter entirely. I can generally enjoy video game movies. Some of my favorites are the Resident Evils, for instance. I've gotten so sick of Paul Anderson bashing I actually get irritated once and jumped to his defense. Honestly, it's as ludicirous as Lucas bashing and IGA (current head of Castlevania games) bashing. But thats a rant off topic. The first Tomb Raider movie I can say I did enjoy. It just seemed... kinda bland though. I don't know what it is. I rather liked Angelina in the role and thought she did a decent job, but something about the movie just seemed off, not really captivating. So it's safe to say I'm of a devided opinion. I liked it well enough, but it's not something I'm ever really compelled to watch again. I haven't seen all of Cradle of Life, the second one, to make an accurate or fair judgement of how that movie was, but of what I did see, I was NOT impressed and it reaaly did nothing for me. Maybe someday I'll see it in it's entirety. Other fans must have felt the same way. It didn't do particularly well and there hasn't been another movie. At current time, this series is a wild card for me. I'm actually beginning to wonder if just maybe this franchise can be pulled back from the rut it's in and made interesting again. It's no small feat for sure, but I've been surprised before. Truthfully, I'm kinda pulling fo the series to get back on the right side of quality. I've more then a few fond memoires of the first three. |
