Joe was the tall nerdy one and he had Gomamon who you could describe as seal like.
Oh, digimon came out before pokemon. Pokemon was kinda rushed out quickly. You can tell because they forgot to add plot or likeable characters.
OHHHHH BURN!

No, that's fair. You need plot AND likable characters. Not just one or the other.

...Come to think of it, they didn't have either.

Unlike Digimon. OK, corny at times but I thought the charaters were pretty interesting

I spotted one or two cookie cutters.

And in the first season, the way they barely set up the whole "Eighth Child," dealio was just retarded. They showed who it was earlier in the season, dropped BLATENTLY OBVIOUS CLUES later in the show, and expected people to be surprised when it was revealed.

Honestly, I think viewers should be insulted.

If you get insulted over a dubbed TV show then you should seek counseling. I don't remember the commercials for when they were looking for the 8th child. I started watching when they went back to the Digital world. By that time they were showing it on afternoons so I caught up quickly.
It may have been obvious to viewers but if you were one of the other children, would you have suspected Kari?

Could you identify these cookie cutters?

Well, it's been a while, so the only one I can really name is Davis. It's like the phrase "character development," wasn't even brought up when they were writing for him.

True it seems that most of the leaders of Digimon have to have
A) Goggles
B) Love of soccer-it's Japan, not Brazil! Why can't they like sumo wrestling?
C) Digimon that have fire power
D) Not as smart as one would hope a leader could be

OK Tai wasn't an imbecile but with Davis it was like Rain Man was leading the team and all he was good for was giving those after school special speeches about friendship and all that good stuff. So on that I will agree with you

Actually, Baseball is more popular then soccer in Japan. So it would have made more sense if they loved baseball.

For the sake of the arguement, Davis was far more stupid then any of the other leaders. Takato had his moments, few yes, but he had them and he was more naieve then stupid.
