With the fact that this topic will probably get looked over and never posted to I will still post it. So this a awesome summary to an even better book.

Isabella Swan didn't have an inkling of what was in store for her when she decided to move from Phoenix, Arizona, to her father’s home in Forks, Washington. High school itself is tough enough when you’re just a number in the computer, but when the school becomes the size of your old classroom, everyone knows everything about you. If that wasn't bad enough, try having your father be a police officer. And of course when fresh meat enters a small town, every guy wants a piece and every female is jealous.

But everything is not always what it seems. What happens when this small town in Washington is actually the home of a family of vampires? Since this is a teen novel, there the typical love interest that is not approved of at first. For Isabella it’s Edward Cullen, youngest of the vampire family and "son" of the local doctor. Isabella is drawn to Edward like a moth to the flame and he to her in return. Edward tries everything to keep Bella at a distance so she won’t discover his true nature, but the farther he tries to push her away, the closer she actually becomes. But what they both don't realize is that the closer she gets to him, the more at risk she puts everyone around her. Questions arise: What happens when a vampire gets jealous of someone else or is defending what is his? Can love exist safely between a vampire and a human?

It’s easy to connect with Bella moving from big city to small town during a high school year (I have done it myself) and the way that cliques have already been formed and how hard it is to penetrate them when you're the new kid. Also, most people can empathize with Edward and his being a loner, not wanting to be friends with anyone (who among us hasn't felt that way at times?), because of always moving around as he had done with his family.

As for traditional vampirology, the old myths don’t exist in this story. Daylight does not turn them into dust, coffins are obsolete, and the old stake through the heart doesn’t faze them. However, direct sunlight does make them glow like diamonds. The idea of being seventeen for two hundred years -- and counting -- would be a future without many opportunities. But I did enjoy the different gifts that they each had such as the ability to read minds and know the future, superhuman strength, the grace of animals, incomparable beauty. The list goes on.

Twilight is the type of novel that sucks you in automatically, especially if you’ve been the new kid on the block more than once. The story speaks of belonging or the want of it. To covet what you don’t have is a major theme throughout the book, not to mention the coming of age story that is in every teen novel ever written. It reminds me a little bit of Romeo and Juliet with the love that might not last and the type of hard core commitment they have to each other that makes them willing to die to protect those around them from harm.

I highly recommend picking up Twilight for a few nights of communing with the dead and appeasing the hopeless romantic inside just about everyone.

There have been other topics about this.

I have the book and I loved it. I can't wait for the movie, if there is one. If you go on her offical website, it talks about the sequel and movie. The guy she wants to play for Edward is hot. For Bella, not so much.

I like this book because I'm a fan of human/nonhuman relationships. My friend told me about this book. When I went to Target, I saw it and I bought it. I couldn't put it down. I like how Bella isn't a Mary Sue. She's clumsy and doesn't have a high self esteem. I like how a lot of the guys were falling for her. I wonder if she can have kids with Edward.........

Yep I go there everyday! My girlfriend has read the second book already. Special Ark version. Before everything gets edited out. It's so awesome! And I don't think so. All I know is if a woman is a vampier she can't have a baby. Plus if a woman is pregnet while getting bit she stays pregnet with the baby forever! But I don't know about the other way around. I'll ask stephenie Meyer. She answers personal ?'s on myspace!

One word for this book:

AWESOME!

"Wisconsin - having more fun than you since 1848!"
"I'm a nice person! I just took a shower! AND I JUST WASHED MY HAIR!" - Michael Jackson (right before a bunch of kids shoved him into his pool... fully clothed)
