Found this little tidbit off at Dark Horizons:

If you can't cross a divide go around it, a philosophy that the Walt Disney Co. looks to be embracing. Disney is in serious talks to buy "Finding Nemo"/"Toy Story" creators Pixar Animation Studios Inc. following months of seeming failed attempts to restore their previous film distribution partnership reports The Orlando Sentinel.

Disney is expected pay a nominal premium to Pixar's current market value of $6.7 billion under the deal being discussed in a stock transaction that would make Apple & Pixar CEO Steve Jobs the largest individual shareholder in Disney. The outcome of the talks isn't certain, and that other options are possible.

Disney and Pixar had been partners for more than 12 years but squabbles with then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner would end that relationship when it expires later this year and seek a new distribution partner. Disney's current CEO Robert Iger has reportedly made continuing the companies' relationship a priority. There has been weeks of speculation that Disney might try to take a stake in Pixar or buy it outright.

Good news for fans of the Disney/Pixar films. But, it may be a bad news for some of the fans.

There are things to consider with this deal made by Disney,

Yahoo! News reports that Disney on Tuesday agreed to acquire Steve Jobs' Pixar for $6.3 billion in stock plus $1.1 billion of the company's cash. The deal also gives Pixar and Jobs unprecedented access into what is perhaps the world's most renowned entertainment brand.

Jobs, who doubles as chief executive of Apple Computer Inc., will take a seat on Disney's board. He also becomes Disney's largest individual shareholder. Further, several Pixar executives will oversee Disney's animation unit along with their own operations.

That means, the Pixar animation team will be leading the operations in the animation department. It may as well that we might see some changes in the directions on Disney Channel.

Good news, bad news? Discuss!

I hate Disney.
I wish Pixar wouldn't have done that.
I have no say in it, obviously, and $7.4 billion... that's quite a bit
Ah well. See how that turns out.
