My friend's mom told my friend that if she gets anymore Cs on her report card, she is going to be put up on adoptions. Sad. |

That's just talk. You can't put a kid up for adoption because of their grades. Otherwise I'd be homeless. |

Sorry about that, Satans Spawn. I think adoptions are good- as long as the people who are adopting are good. I'm not sure if I would personally adopt. I wouldn't know what to tell the child, you know what I mean? Like, I wouldn't be able to tell them they were adopted. |

But it's better to tell them than to let them find out some other way. Last year during our unit on genetics in Biology, our teacher was telling us a story of a day he was doing a certain lesson. It was on dominant and recessive genes, and he used the eye color example: genes for dark eyes are dominant, blue eyes are recessive, green are codominant (?) and so on. He was explaining to the class a hypothetical situation in which if both parents have blue eyes, it would be impossible genetically for the child to have brown eyes (because dominant genes mask recessive genes; recessive genes are homozygous). One girl raised her hand and asked if it was true. He was positive about it; that situation could not happen genetically. After the class ended, the same girl who asked the question was leaving but was kind of zoned out. He asked if she was alright, and she sort of nodded and left. That night, she found out she was adopted. After hearing Mr. N's explanation, she realized that both of her parents had blue eyes, yet she herself had brown eyes. So, she went home and questioned her parents about it. Her parents had never told her (I guess they didn't know how), so she had went through life up till highschool and never knew. That's quite a shock, really. I personally like the idea of adopting children in the future. Mostly because I don't particularly like the idea of the birthing procedure >.< (people have called me petite, and I just can't imagine squeezing you-know-what out of you-know-where, being the size that I am). Plus I hate needles, so I wouldn't even make it to the epidural.

Wow, thats a tough way to find out. I didn't mean that I wouldn't tell them though, I just mean it would be hard to. Almost like I couldn't. I guess I phrased it wrong, though. My bad.

I wasn't assuming that you wouldn't, but it's a bad idea to keep waiting; you'll have to face it eventually. The girl's parents probably did want to tell her, but ended up waiting too long without really meaning it. |
