I choose to watch or read the article because of the protestors words. I find it to be sad a disrespectful to the families and friends of the soliders that died over there. It's sad and disrespectful because those protestors don't give a hoot if they are disturbing a funeral. |

I'm aware of Fred Phelps and his "church"/CULT. These are people who wave signs that say, "THANK GOD FOR 9/11" and against the dead miners. They are the equivalint of Muslim extremists. If you need an excuse to find Christians annoying...Fred is your man |

Oh and did I forget to mention, and I'm not lying, that they all believe that they'll all go to heaven. They all say these comments and they believe they'll go to heaven because they "preach the gospel", "totally support God" and other comments that I don't remember...it's just crazy. |

These people are so extreme that Pat Robertson won't go near them. We should probably discuss this in poltics. I believe Al Gore had dealings with Phelps at one point. I'll see you in Politics... |

Can you do it for me FreeXM 91. I was the last one to post there and I hate double posting. Staying on topic, today in Iraq, something was blown up and there were reports of gunfire. I haven't gotten any latest news and my contact in the Middle East hasn't reported anything unusual yet but she says strange things have been happeing lately |

Did anyone mention that Jill Carroll is back? All of this happened because of the extremists -- most wars do. |

Yes, I was aware she was back. Let's hope she has the sense to just do local stories and leave international to someone else. And what happened because of the extremists. |

The funny thing is about that guy, is he really doesn't believe anything he's saying. He's actually trying to just bait people in to attacking him, where he can press for major lawsuits. If you haven't noticed actually, his entire "Church" (his extended family) are all lawyers. Saying all that crap is bound to make people enraged, and he's just waiting 'til someone loses it and attacks him or another member, where they can all sue that person, and the government for not "protecting" them enough, among other things. |

That's an interesting theory but I think Phelps belives everything that he says. He's been saying it for over 20 years and that seems like a long time for someone to attack him like you say. I don't understand why they say "God Hates America/Canada" yet they continue to live there and benefit off of the freedom. EDIT: Kaiser, right now I'm listening to a sermon from Phelps. In no way is this man acting. He believes EVERYTHING that's coming out of his mouth. He's speaking about 9/11 (Speech was from a week later) and how America is to blame for the tragidies and he is giving Bible quotes to back up what he's saying. This man is insane. |

No, just an excellent actor, which only makes this situation much more sickly. He's doing what he's doing just for the potential to earn a great deal of money off the government and person he or another family member sues. It's quite discrete, but makes sense. |

But I haven't read anything about any lawsuits brought against him because of First Amendment rights. And if anything, Phelps has given money to politicians, most noteably, Al Gore. |

I don't know how anyone can say that Phelps and his family are actors and actresses. They are all just plain crazy! About a month ago...I heard, I think, the wife of Fred Phelps on XM Radio and what I heard from the interview was complete craziness. She talked about the soldiers going to hell, that God hates America, that we fight for homosexuals, that America is doomed, and that God intened 9/11 to happen. THEY EVEN WROTE A DAMN POEM/SONG ABOUT THE PLANES GOING INTO THE WTC! At the end of the interview, she broght the whole family together to sing a song that the Pope is on fire. And you know what the worst part was...her little grand-kid, who is I think about 2 or 3, was trying to sing the song along with the family. Now how are they acting!? |

...Okay, obviously I've been out of touch for a while. What's with this whole Phelps family thing? They sound like just the kind of thing I like to make fun of. |

Yeah, I heard the song about 9/11 and saw a cartoon they made to go with it. There's a scene in Malcolm X where he's watching TV and it shows the bad things happening to African Americans. And every once in while the camera pans back to Malcom as he takes in what he's seeing. He says nothing but it's his face that hides the rage that is building up and only visible in his eyes. When I saw that cartoon, I felt exactly the same way. Sorry, Kaiser, the whole theory on how it's an act is interestin but sadly this is one of those things that's too true to be god awful |
