Hey, I'm so glad that he made it back OK. And since you've got someone who's had an inside experience, ask him for us, how it's REALLY going over there. Are things as bad as they make it out to be?
Do the Iraqi's like us?
Is there hope for Iraq?
Does he believe in what he's doing over there?
I always hope for the best...experience unfortunately has taught me to expect otherwise

I've asked Simon and these are his answers:

1) Depends what perspective you're looking at

2) Quite a few, but I guess they just like us because we're protecting them

3) There is hope for Iraq if we all just work together (what he meant I do not know)

4) Yes, in some areas, I didn't like it when I heard about the black watch getting killed though. I do think that some may take us for granted.

Well that's what Simon said, whether it made sense I do not know, but I hope it answered your questions Shadow Avenger.

Gives me an idea. I'd get a better understanding if I were to actually speak with him but I'm not gonna do that. What does he think of the media's coverage of the war?

I think most Iraqi's dislike Americans because of something that happened back then. At first we were allies/friends/buddies but then something came up. I forget what it was, we were discussing it in Social Studies class. I love that class because our Social Studies teacher teaches us things that are going on in our world today. I'm very curious about this war in Iraq. What I've read in an article in that class that there was a document signed for what countries could have weapons of mass destrucion or nuclear bombs. Some countries like the US were in it but I think Iraq wasn't included. I'm not sure if this is true because I hardly remeber what the article said.

I just saw on CNN that Time Magazine's latest issue is going to feature the caption, "Iraq, Breaking Point?"
Lately there has been a lot of talk of a civil war in Iraq. And if that's the case, then I'm afraid that the US is going to lose.

Yeah I think there was a problem with their government. I'm not sure why they're in civil war but hopefully this'll end soon and it won't be drastic.

Well there is no civil war yet but they are very close to it. The thing is, if there is a civil war, the US might withdraw along with the UK. If they do that, then chances are, the country (Iraq) will fall into the hands of terrorists.

This really makes one wonder--was Iraq better off with Saddam in charge? Yes, he was insane, yes, he was bad, but look at the shape Iraq is in. It's a hair's bredth away from falling into anarchy. People are dying en masse every day. Over 2000 Americans are dead, and a helluva lot more Iraqis are too.

Perhaps there's a lesson in all this--the U.S. shouldn't play policeman with every dictatorship in the middle east.

I often wonder that myself, Davis. Would Iraq have been better off? Would the world have been better off?
We'll never know.

If the US isn't going to play policeman, then who's going to stop these nutjobs when they're breaking UN laws.

I agree with you al davis. I think the United States is too much into this. true we're trying to give them freedom but was it the right choice? People are still dying and people are protesting.

It's hard to believe that there are some dumb %$&%*'s over there who would rather be living under the fear of Saddam than having freedom for everyone. They make me sick.

Yeah, but think--it's pretty much the same situation, just freakishly differant. They used to live in fear of being thrown in jail indefinately. Now they live in fear of being incinerated in a car bomb, or...well, thrown in jail indefinately. Freedom is nice, but only when it's real freedom, not "You're free, take our word for it."

He thinks they don't cover enough. But he said they probably don't do that because they don't want us 'getting too worried' about all of it. But that's what he thinks. I'll ask my friends if they've got any family members that went to war in Iraq, two mens opinion is better than one as my nana says.

Oh yeah, also if you want to ask my brother anything I'm fine with asking him ^^

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the War in Iraq. SOD Rumsfeld said that if we were to leave now it would be like giving postwar Germany back to the Nazis.

Happy Anneversary War in Iraq! I shall bake Bush a big cake.

It sucks that we can't get the troops out, though. But what can Bush do? Iraq is still in chaos, and there's still a chance of a Civil War in Iraq.
