I really want the war to end. There's a lot of my old friends over there now who are far away from home. Hearing of any of them getting killed is just terrible. :(

Everyone wants the war to end. Do you think the President wants to hear about more troops being killed? He doesn't and neither do any of the troops but it's a part of war.

I don't think the war will end any time soon. But I guess we have to make the Middle East better. As I say "If there's any honor in war, it's the honor of protecting people."

The war isn't going to end overnight and it won't end by having an antiwar movement. Things are getting better in Iraq. The troops have good morale and they know they are fighting the good fight.

I'm a little lost with this war. What are they fighting for? Oil or to stop the weapons of mass destruction? So far I think that there is no such weapon cause they haven't found a clue to where it is. And there could be a possibilty that we are fighting for oil. Most of our technology today is powered by oil.

What are they fighting for?

Ah, the oil theory. Never gets old, never goes anywhere.
It's not about oil. Stop talking about the oil. Want to talk about oil. Go to the UN and ask Kofi Annan about the Oil for Food scandal.
This war is about giving the people of Iraq freedom. May not seem like much to you or me or anyone else but to people who have been oppressed for over 50 years, it means a great deal. During Saddam's last election, he was the only name on the ballot. He won, naturally. But when they tore down his statues and all those Iraqis were celebrating, I started to think, "I don't see how this guy won the popular vote."
The people of Iraq-and most of the Middle East-are now becoming more friendly to the west. Imagine not being able to go to a certain place because of your religion. Or you must cover all of your eyes, simply because you are a woman. The end result is that this war is about freedom. They're giving a voice to a people who longed to be heard.

As much as I despise Bush and his party, Avenger has a point, we are fighting a war for freedom. Think about it, the American Civil War, that was one of the longest and most costly wars ever, it was the one that permanently put us in debt. That war was costly, was being dragged out, and had political opposition everywhere. Sound familiar? :shifty:

Does sound familiar...you're of course talking about the war of 1812, are you not?
No, I know what you're talking about.
Wow, I know I'm making good points when people who don't like Bush or his politics agrees with what I say-and I like Bush.

I support the war for their freedom but I dont support the republican party and probably wont for the rest of my life. As for the war itself, I have cousin who just came back from iraq and he was even stationed in Fallujah.

Hey! Don't forget Saddem is no longer in power and his sons including his grandson are dead. I'm glad they're dead. And don't forget they were happy when we arrived in Bagdad. You may not support the "Republican Party," but I support my party.

I'm guessing people have already forgotten why were went to war. And stuff like that.

I have a friend that's going to The Middle East. But it'll be his last time going though. So he can take care of his sister now. Don't worry I have my friend in my thoughts & prayers.

As do I. I don't care what people say. OK, there were no WMD's found. But the only WMD's I thought they found was Saddam Hussein and his two kids.

Agreed, SA. But Saddem was a threat to the world. But I really think we should stay there until the country can stand on it's feet. Like we did around 1700's.

I think that's going to happen pretty soon. I don't mean like in the next few weeks but in two to three years they could be standing on their own two feet. Right now, they're just learning to crawl but they're crawling pretty fast.

...we have to make the Middle East better.

It's only Iraq though. The Middle East is fine. Believe me, I used to live there.

I don't like the casualty report on either side but you can't expect them to go in and just do nothing. If someone's shooting at you-they started it remember-then you have to shoot back.

Hey guys got some good news! You know my brother that I told you about? Well he's back from Iraq!

I'm very sorry to hear about your friends Typhoon. It's awful hearing that one of your friends/family had just died in a war.
