So, anyone a SOAD fan here? I personally think these guys rock so hard. They came out with TWO CDs this year (Hypnotize came out last week) and they both were excellent. My favorites in SOAD song history are Sugar, BYOB and Chop Suey.

I love system of a down! I especially like their song question. It's really dark and...awesome. They're also on my top ten list. Good on everyone who listens to system of a down!

System of a Down Origin: Los Angeles, CA, USA Genres: Nu-Metal Status: Active The interestingly-named System Of A Down seemingly came out of nowhere in 1998, signing to American Records and winning a major tour support slot with Slayer, prompting an en masse response of "Who?" from Slayer fans. Of the many nu-metal bands that emerged during the heyday of the genre, System Of A Down are generally a bit heavier, certainly more socially/politically aware (the quartet are all of Armenian descent), and clearly more diverse in their songwriting, evidenced by cool songs such as "Peephole", still a BNR favorite. Their debut album was a pleasant surprise in 1998, and they have continued to excel, with their first of two 2005 albums Mezmerize debuting at #1 on the US charts (its followup, Hypnotize, was released in November). In the crowded and oft-maligned field of nu-metal, System Of A Down clearly stands as one of the best and most unique of bands. Members: Serj Tankian vocals/keyboards Daron Malakian guitars/vocals Shavo Odadjian bass John Dolmayan drums Albums: System Of A Down 1998 American Toxicity 2001 American Steal This Album! 2002 American Mezmerize 2005 American Hypnotize 2005 American My opinion: Hypnotize is much better than Mezmerize. Their debut (which no one knows about) is worth tracking down. |
