It's not a singerH.I.M. Origin: Finland Genres: Goth Metal Status: Active http://www.heartagram.com/ His Infernal Majesty (usually shortened to HIM) has risen to the top of the goth rock scene. Finland appears to have a virtual lock on this style of music, what with Entwine, Poisonblack, For My Pain ..., To/Die/For, and others all providing similarly enjoyable takes on melancholy hard rock. HIM is as good as any, not radically different from any of the aforementioned bands, but they hit all the right notes, and in heartthrob vocalist Ville Valo they have a true star, a charismatic frontman able to lead the band as far as they can go. Already massively popular in their homeland and still on the rise, HIM is clearly one of the top bands in their field. Band Members: Ville Valo vocals Mikko Lindström (Lily Lazer) guitars Mikko Pannanen (Mige Amour) guitars Jani Purttinen (Emerson Burton) keyboards Mika Karppinen (Gas Lipstick) drums former members Antto Melasniemi keyboards Miko Salminen (Zoltan Pluto) keyboards (see also To/Die/For) Juhana Rantala drums Albums: (EP) 666 Ways To Love - Prologue 1996 BMG Greatest Love Songs Volume 666 1998 GUN Razorblade Romance 2000 RCA Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights 2001 RCA Love Metal 2003 BMG And Love Said No (compilation) 2004Dark Light 2005 Reprise |

Actually, I'm probably less of a fan than you are. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I just know almost everything on any noteable Metal band. |

Almost ANY noteable metal band? Dude! Bonzer! Less of a fan? Dude I've only been a fan for about...a few months, I've been a fan of metal, gothic, punk, industrial, techno, and rock bands since I was a todd, my cousin and friend introdiced it to me and I don't think they know that much about him. So what's you're opinion on the band? What would you rate it out of ten? |

...Todd? A-anyway... They are probably the best in their field and are pretty close to world-wide superstardom. Not just because their new album is taking off, but because they have poewrful friends everywhere. But like I said before there are so many bands in Finland that play this style. So them being a big favouite is like someones favourite jellybean. I might get "Dark Light" But I'll always love aggressive "evil" metal or eclectic & atmospheric metal when it comes to Metal. In other words, a 7. |

I know Bam Margera (I recognise that logo in the back anywhere) but I don't really listen to Him's music much. |

Personally, I deslike this band because they deal with the Devil like many other Metal bands. I do not tolarate these kind of bands. Just listen to their words, and understand 'who' they are singing about. If you're smart enough, you'll understand. I've listened to it...and felt the demonic power coming from the music. HIM is not a good band to listen too, especially during depression. Believe me people. |

Um... Okay... 1. Not every Metal band deals with Satan. If they do it's mindless shock value. 2. If there's 1 thing I've learned from Metal it's that you can say whatever you want and not mean it. Tom Araya from SLAYER is a devout Christain yet SLAYER's latest studio album was entitled "God Hates Us All." And When King Diamond was in Mercyful Fate he wrote songs entitled "Evil" "Into The Coven" and "Black Funeral." I'll admit the lyrics could be branded "satanic" but King was no way into that stuff. He believed people needed evil, because you cant have good without evil. I think every one in Metal (except Dissection and Deicide diciples) would rather have more good in this world, but sometimes you need a bit of evil to appriciate the good. If you are judging band on lyrics rather than music, then I feel nothing but pity for you. 3. What's wrong with depression? Not everyone has had perfect lives especially if you're from the cold, bleak and desolate reagon of Scandinavia. |

I agree with windshear, not all metal bands deal with the Devil. But I guess you are right when you say that they're not a band to listen to when you're depressed though. Also, what's wrong with Satan? I BELIEVE in Satan. I guess you figured that from my name huh? Well at least you gave your honest opinion. ^^ |

Looking back on what digi-Der-Der-Der said... What Demonic Power?!?! Music is Music! The only thing Music can influence you to do is to pick up an instrument of your own. In my belief there is a God and Lucifer, and a heaven and hell, but they don't hate eachother and there will be no Biblical apocolypse (even though the Bible is a good read ).

Digital-DNA is absolutely right. I just checked out HIM on Myspace and listened to them. They have fans that are leaving comments like "666 <3 Jennifer" or "Devil's Own". Sorry, but I don't go for that being a Christian. It makes me sick. It's a real shame that they don't use their talent for something positive. |

GRAHH!!!!!!! Listen to me you bible thumpin' steeple f**ks. THEY ARE NOT SATANIC!!! What part of "MINDLESS SHOCK VALUE" dont you f**king get!?! God sucks, Jesus sucks, Satan is awesome. Do I mean that? NO!!!!! God knows you can say whatever you want if you don't mean it in you heart and soul. This is what happens when you let a religon run your life. You become so f**king prejudice that it makes me sick. You BOTH come off as people who when they saw poverty and starving children in Africa you asked your parents "Why dosen't their daddies buy them food?" You think if Jesus came back today he'd be with you in the church? Hell, no! He'd be with us in the Metal and Goth cultures. Don't believe me? then actually READ the bible!!! Next timy you judge others, first take a look at yourself! |
