^ Yeah. Unfortunatly I didn't have the money for tickets to ozzfest. The first four are excellent and a good place to start, but there are many more classics after that. The next one, "Powerslave", is extremely good if you like acoustics. Edward the Great is a good compilation album, though I must say that I tend to shy away from those. My case is that while they usually put their most well recieved song on the albums, many gems are left behind. For Example: The Judas Priest Metal Works 73-93 set had a lot of greats, but when I picked up Defenders Of The Faith I found a lot of songs that were killer and should have been included. I asked myself; Why wasn't "The Sentinel" or "Rock Hard Ride Free" included? My advice is to stick wth the studio albums. Unless you have no intention of getting them all or are only after certain songs, you'll have each one in the end. They are good for using in vehicles though. The DVD is about 20-30 dollars. I got mine from Best Buy for twenty two about a year or so ago. If you can find it I guarantee that it won't cost over thirty. I'm damn near positive that Deep Purple doesn't fall under glam/sleaze/hair rock, but the jury is still out on Whitesnake, even if they are pretty good. Understandable about not liking the glam/sleaze/hair stuff, but I must say, at least they all used instruments . I like few bands from that category. For the most part a lot of bands from those eras were one hit wonders. Example: Europe. "The Final Countdown" was their most popular song and truthfully the only good one, but it's really sad when a band sucks so much that they have to open and close a show with the same song. But bands like Motley Crue are awesome, though sometimes I wonder exactly what category they fall in. Some of their early stuff was pretty heavy, but they seemed to change styles a bit as albums came and went, some even falling into the aforementioned categories. Eh'. Anyways. As far as anything else listening to, there isn't. What is popular today is sickening, at least to me. Sythesized crap that requires no talent, just lip synching and the ability to dance, is not worth anyones time. I also don't much care for listening to someone rhyme to the same sythesized beat for five minutes per song. Metal and hard rock is where true inovation and talent lies. Just you watch Windshear. Rock and Metal is going to become a big thing again, I'm sure of it. Not as big as in the 80's with the NWOBM, but it's coming. Many great bands are reemerging from the ashes and proving that they have still got it. Metal and rock are the true forms of music. Like the internal combustion engine, no matter what happens or what comes along, it will never die or go away. As AC/DC says: Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution Rock and Roll ain't gonna die |

Yes Almost every Hard Rock Decade needs a shocker: Alice Cooper 70's Ozzy 80's (unfortunatly) marilyn manson 90's (Though I say Rob Zombie) I hate Marilyn Manson. He is the biggest posuer since wiggas. He is not Goth whatsoever. The Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus are. Next time you see someone in a Marilyn Manson T-shirt please inform them that they cannot become Goth like that. |

I'm so glad you said that...isn't it amazing how many people listen to his music to be viewed as 'gothic'? Peh, pathetic. Me, I don't like him one bit - something about him irritates me and I don't like his voice either. Guess I'm just picky Anyway, I thought of another singer I love: Freddy Mercury. He's with out a doubt one of my top two favourite singers. |

Glad you agree with me. Now I just gotta convince the school to get those posers to shut up. Yes, Freddie was a genius. Whose the other Mr. Chibi? Let me guess... Robert Plant? He's from the same vein. |

First off...I'm a Miss Chibi, if you please .... And, I've met Robert Plant...he's a groovy guy. But it's not him. Led Zepplin aren't one of my favourite bands to be honest... Freddy and Queen rock my socks - I went to the Queen and Paul Rogers concert a couple of months ago - it was sooooo good but would've been better with Sir Mercury... I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles, ne? Okay, my second favourite singer is Alice Cooper, as I mentioned before hand...he's just plain awesome! ^_^ |

Eh, Queens OK I guess. I was never really enamored with them, but a lot of people I know liked them. The only song they did that I really liked was "Another One Bites The Dust". I've always been a bit of a fan of Jon Bon Jovi. He's pretty good. Lotta good tunes from his bands. On the topic of Led Zepplin, I always thought they were really good. Too bad they had to hang it up, but when the guy who writes most of the songs croaks, its probably a good idea to hang it up. Thats what would happen to Iron Maiden if the founder (and greatest bassist ever) Steve Harris split. He writes damn near 80% of the songs. My mom was always irritated about the Led Zepplin thing though. Led Zepplin was the one band she never got to see. Just when she managed to get tickets, John Bonham died (She was always a hard rocker, hell people used to call her rock goddess. Heh, I have a cool mom). Terrible thing. Joe Elliot from Def Leppard was also really good. I've always liked that band. It's quite a shame that their drummer lost his arm. And Chibiraven, your right. Alice Cooper is awesome. I can almost hear "Teenage Frankenstien", "No More Mister Nice Guy" and "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)" right now. By the way, I personally think that Marilyn Manson is the biggest waste of space in the music industry. He's just... ugh. I can't even talk about him without nearly puking. But whatever. To each his own. But I can't stand him anyways. |

Oh, it said Male on the Gender thing. and ... holy s**t you met Robert Plant!?! Did you get an autograph? And I don't think I can ever stop talking about Ozzy and Black Sabbath. Those first two albums I play by the hour. Sure everything about them was innovative, but Ozzy... just... "N.I.B." is a staple from God! the first ever Driving energetic Metal song with Ozzy singin' away! |

Ah, now see...I love Queen. A matter of personal taste, ne? Anywhooo, Led Zepplin were ok, but the only song I really liked was "A Whole Lotta Love"...and that's only cause my friend plays an awesome rendition on the guitar xD Alice Cooper...let me sum him up in one word: LEGEND! Man, that dude's songs have made me emote in all kinds of ways - happy, sad, angry...he rocks! My fave Alice Cooper song stands at "Love's a Loaded Gun"...and who doesn't love "Teenage Frankenstien"? *sighs contentedly* Anyway, Windshear, I didn't get his autograph...for the simple reason that I didn't realise who he was at the time! You're not gonna believe this...but he was at this tennis club I happened to be at...and we were having a chat..and he was totally awesome and everything... Then I walked away and my brain went ... ...and I was like holy cow...that was Robert Plant! xD...[Then I saw the Bentleys outside...>.>] Despite the randomness...it was pretty cool.

Alice Cooper is definatly a legend. Anyways, on said subject, Up here in New York we have a radio statio on 94.5. A classic rock station mind you. The cool thing? Alice Cooper has been hosting a lot at nights during this summer. One thing he said that stood out is that despite the shock stuff and the music, he's a nerd. A Star Wars and/or Star Trek nerd (can't remember which or if it was both). He said he goes to each movies and all the conventions, but, in his own words, "I just hide my nerdiness better than you do". I thought it was funny just to think about. Good station, though, unfortunatly, lately during the day they've been playing a lot of Mettalica. I like the early stuff, but they suck now. And yes Chibiraven, it is a matter of personal taste. I didn't diss Queen, nor will I. They are a decent band, just not really my cup of tea. One of my funniest memories involves them, but thats another topic. |

My complete favorite singer would have to be Utada Hikaru. Then maybe Ayumi Hamasaki, BoA, Hitomi Yaida, and Nami Tamaki. (though I've only heard one of Nami's songs, I adore it) I more like J-Pop, not really a fan of metal/hard rock. ^^" |

Lol, I didn't think you were dissing Queen...sorry if you got that impression! Anyway, Windshear - I was just going to post about James Hetfield...but then I totally forgot about it until I read your post. Man, I loved the way he sang "Mama Said"...you ever hear that one? Although, when he's on stage, he sorta tramps around like some kind of elephant! Nevertheless, he still rocks! |
