Azzhrak Scaend stood looking over his fort. It was big, wide and vast, but still only fitted with palisade walls. But it was a suitable size for his mighty host of undead. Clad in armour and his cloak, he moved to sit on a throne he had constructed at the centre of the fort, from where he could see over his entire base and the lands beyond. The time for battle would be drawing soon; Weissland would not let him have their lands without a fight.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

The stronghold had taken shape quickly over the past week. After all, the dead were tireless. The plateau the fort was constructed on now had two walls; one at the bottom, another further up the slope. Stone had been used to reinforce parts of the walls, and the task of reinforcing the rest was still under way. Behind his throne he had constructed a stone hall, to act as his personal quarters. Now, though, he merely sat on his throne and stared far in the direction of Nairio.

One of the many necromancers in his service approached. "My Lord, we understand that a force of Weisslanders have arrived at Nairio. Reinforcements from the north, it would seem."

Azzhrak sighed. "How many?" His voice was deep, nigh-on demonic in fact.

"I cannot say for certain, my-"

"Then find out!"

"Yes, of course, of course." said the necromancer before leaving, quickly.

Sindrila watched her master's undead warriors ceaselessly preparing defences. She knew that the enemy would come here to attack them but it would not be easy for them. She was sure the Weisslanders would be drowned in blood here.

Azzhrak rose to seek out Sindrila. She was not far from his throne. He found her staring intently both at the fort, and beyond it too, as if waiting for something.

"Eager for bloodshed, Sindrila?" he asked, moving to stand beside her.

"As always master." Sindrila replied. She ran her slender fingers along the edge of hilt of one of the weapons at her waist. She said "It has been too long since I killed a Weisslander." Sindrila had two weapons, one attached to her belt at either side of her body. One was an ornate longsword while the other was a short sword with a hilt made of polished bone.

"It seems that the Weisslanders have sent reinforcements to Nairio." The old necromancer crossed his arms. "Perhaps we should strike the first blow, rather than wait for them to come to us."

Sindrila nodded "Good, they deserve death for what they have done to me, to all of us." Weisslanders had killed her parents and left her alone in a harsh world, Weisslanders slaughtered her people at every opportunity, Weisslanders had raped her as a young woman. Service to the Defiled Kingdom had given her a multitude of allies, she was never alone now, and Weissland would pay for its crimes. Sindrila would never be put in that frightened and weak position again.

"They will, Sindrila. We have a chance to create our own kingdom here. But we must fight for it. Then, in time, you will see your vengeance come to fruition." He looked around and called over a necromancer. "Count our troops. I want to know if we have the numbers to mount an offensive against the Weisslanders."

"At once, Lord Azzhrak."

Sindrila looked up from her vigil of the fortification and said "I could lead some more raids into the surrounding area to swell our numbers?"

Azzhrak nodded. "Make it so, Sindrila. We will need all the might we can muster if we wish to fend off the Weisslanders."

Sindrila saluted "It will be so, master." The Dark Elf left the throne room quickly. She gathered a couple of the necromancers not vitally needed at the fort and some troops, enough for a small raiding party.

Taking the small force, some fifty skeletons, Sindrila made her way from the fort to head south-east of the fort. There was a village a couple of miles away which they could attack.

Azzhrak watched as the Weissland force formed in the distance. It was small compared to his own, and that was good. A numbers advantage was the best thing that the undead could hope for. His army was formed and marching forth to meet the enemy. He was waiting for Sindrila to return, then he would join his forces upon the plains of Nairio, where the battle would be joined.

((Just a quick note to say I'll have Sindrila's force return part way into the battle due to the time difference in the posts I made.))

((Cool.))

A necromancer approached Azzhrak. "Master, I have received word from Lady Sindrila."

"Oh?" replied Azzhrak, keeping his eyes fixed on the enemy as he spoke.

"Yes, Master. She wishes you to know that she will join you on the battlefield with her newly-risen reinforcements."

"Very well. Then to battle we ride."

Azzhrak's mount was brought to him. It was a warhorse encased entirely in black metal. Many believe it was, in fact, made of the metal and that spirits resided within. The metal was as dark as night and adorned with spikes and foul patterns. From within the armour, a sickly green light glowed. Azzhrak mounted his steed and made his way down to the plains. His elite guard joined him, falling into pace behind him. There were six of them. Like his mount, they were naught but suits of dark armour with green light shimmering from within them. Each wielded a different weapon and rode upon mounts very similar to Azzhrak's own.

Come then, Weissland. I want to see you try and take this land from me. Just you try it.
