"The death of some to save many. If sacrifices must be made, then so be it." replied Mordain. "We should leave for Melldin soon. When the Seekers arrive, we will take a contingent with them. The rest will be left here and we can contact them when we need to." He looked over at Wyrillyn before speaking again. "As for him... He seems convinced that the runes will hide him from Krodalis. If that is true, then we should leave him here under the strict and watchful eye of my Seekers." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Time passed slowly for those in the halls of Carak Prison. Mordain was eager to begin the hunt. Every moment those foul creatures were allowed to roam free across Weissland was a moment too long. But, he needed to wait for the Seeker reinforcements to arrive. The Seekers within the prison were anxious, too. They all still eyed Wyrillyn suspiciously. No one trusted him, and why would they? To them, he seemed as nothing more than a crazy, old doom-sayer, spreading prophecies of the end of days. But Mordain would not let the man's ravings become truth. Krodalis would be stopped and his minions would fall with him. ----- Outside the prison, a vast contingent of soldiers moved through the mountain passes toward the prison. Swathed in black, they were all but invisible in the dimly-lit mountains. These were the Seeker reinforcements they had been waiting for. Perhaps a half-hour seperated them from the doors of Carak. ((I left a little time there in case you fancied doing anything else before the Seekers arrive and we leave. I can edit this post if you need more time to do anything.)) |

((That's ok, I don't need to do anything.)) Nathaniel bided his time. He sat cross-legged on the floor of the main chamber meditating. He was not sure, but hoped that by meditating during the time he was not busy with the hunt that he could stave off the inevitable. One way or another, if he did not keep control the spirit would find a way to truly kill him. Quietly she whispered in his ear "It won't work mage, I'm going to kill you." Nathaniel ignored her taunts. Edited by Gorfang, Oct 25 2010, 05:09 PM.

The doors to the chamber opened and a group of Seekers entered. After a quick look around, they made their way over to Mordain. "Lord Mordain." said the first, saluting. "We have been sent from Asulien, under command from Lord Marr, to aid you. We are, of course, at your service." "Good. Bring your number inside. Nathaniel and I will leave within the hour. There is much work to be done." Mordain looked them over as he spoke. Clearly, they were tired, but that was not his problem. Time was of the essence, and that was very much his problem. "Forgive me my Lord but who is Nathaniel?" Mordain inclined his head to where the mage sat cross-legged, meditating. "A proud servant of Weissland. When in my company you shall look upon him as your superior. He has proven his worth time and again since he appeared in Port Village. I will not forget that, nor will I allow any of you to forget it either." The Seekers bowed and began bringing the rest of the force inside. |

((Now that was awesome, respect from Mordain.)) Nathaniel heard what was being said in the room. He was quietly proud of what Lord Mordain had said. It was only disappointing that the spirit used such things as more reason to mock him. Seven years, he thought bitterly, seven years and all the chances I have had to rid myself of the thrice-damned spirit, none have worked or been morally acceptable. Time would tell if Nathaniel Drakkon would free himself of the murderer of his brother and so many others, or die trying. Nathaniel opened his eyes and stood up, pushing such thoughts aside. He said "I stand ready Lord Mordain, eager to find this scum in fact." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talath Krae and Nola Siln were two of the Seekers who had been sent to Carak Prison. While both had met Nathaniel before they did not speak to him directly when they saw him, as it was not their place. While Seekers did not know the identities of each other, nor did they ever reveal their names, they had spoken to the mage on the journey from the White Realm. Both had served in the White War and the Defiled Kingdom War, now they were entering a conflict of far greater stakes than even those historic events. Both stood in the formation of Seekers that entered the massive room. Nola had never been here before, but resisted the urge to look around, keeping her masked face fixed straight ahead like the rest. Talath had served in Carak Prison before. He would not say anything of the sort, but he was glad he was not returning to guard this place, he would rather face any threat in battle. |

((T'is a rare thing ))"And find them we shall, Nathaniel." said Mordain quietly before turning back to the Seekers assembled before him. "I will take twenty Seekers with me on this first mission. You should all know; the enemy we go now to hunt is dangerous. There are many creatures we must find, but we expect to encounter only one in our first destination. Who among you will volunteer for this mission?" In truth, he cared very little whether the Seekers wanted to go or not, but felt that he should give them a chance first to prove themselves. Some would be smart enough to know that any who stepped forward to volunteer would instantly draw their Lord's eye and be kept in his mind when next he saw fit to make any promotions. Some would be smart enough, but not all. |

Nathaniel watched the Seekers impassively. He remembered times when he had asked for volunteers from regular soldiers, or even militia, and here Mordain asked for volunteers from hardened elite troops such as the Seekers. Nathaniel would willingly seek a death in battle, it was to be expected of his name and heritage, but with his 'condition', the mage would rather die doing something useful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amongst those twenty who stepped forward first where Talath and Nola. Talath was near the front rank of the formation of Seekers, while Nola was near the back left side of the group. |

Mordain looked at the Seekers who had stepped forward. "Your courage will not be forgotten." He turned and walked over to an officer, one of those in command of the prison. "I will be leaving now. The old elf will remain here. You are not to let him out of this room. Understood?" "Yes, Lord Mordain." replied the Seeker, saluting as he did so. "And if I may say, sir, good luck." Mordain turned and walked away, saying under his breath. "I don't intend to need it." He stopped before the Seekers once more, raising his voice. "Come then, warriors of Weissland. There is much to be done and no time to waste." With the Seekers in toe and Nathaniel amongst them, Mordain walked from the prison and began the journey towards Melldin. --Leaves Carak Prison-- --Heading for Melldin-- |

((In RP-time, this should have happened a few days ago.)) "Sir!" called a Seeker as he hurried over to the officer in command at Carak. "What is it, Seeker?" asked the officer. "A letter has arrived, sir. It carries the seal of Lord Marr." The officer snatched it out of the man's hand and began reading. Seeker, I write on behalf of Lord Mordain himself. Within Carak, there resides a man by the name of Wyrillyn Thaendil. He is to be transported to Asulien. This letter is for your eyes only, and the transport of Wyrillyn Thaendil is to be handled as discreetly as possible. No one outside of the Seeker Order is to know that he is being brought to Asulien. You may operate under the full authority of Lord Mordain to achieve this end. Do what you must. We expect your arrival within a week. Lord Marr. The officer looked up from the letter. "Prepare Wyrillyn Thaendil to be moved to Asulien. Disguise him. Bind him, if you have to. Do it quickly. And assemble a force of our twelve finest." "At once, sir." ----- Less than an hour later, Seekers struggled as they pulled Wyrillyn out of Carak into the mountain air. The old elf kicked and screamed frantically. "Mad! You're all mad! Put me back. Put me back, now. It's not safe!" he pleaded. The officer walked over to him. "I have my orders, and I do not answer to you." Wyrillyn fixed him with an icy gaze. "You would doom the world, for the sake of your orders?" The officer struck Wyrillyn across the head with a baton, knocking him out. "Put him on the horse. We ride for Asulien." --Leaving Carak Prison-- --Heading for Asulien-- |
