Mordain stood silent for a moment, staring down into the depths of the prison once again. But he regained his composure quickly. "Perhaps you have seen enough, Nathaniel. I am sure there are matters of your own you wish to tend to?" |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

"Indeed." said Mordain. He began walking back down the corridors, winding through the prison towards the chamber from where they had started. Nathaniel was right; if they were indeed to hunt down and stop the foul creatures, they would need all the strength they could muster. |

((Let's see if we can get this going again)) Once they arrived at the chamber Nathaniel turned to Mordain and said "I should take my leave of you now to rest Lord Mordain. Hopefully tomorrow I will have received news from my contacts which might give us clues as to the whereabouts of our enemies." |

"Very well. Strength will be important. The battles ahead, I'm sure, will prove just as treacherous as battles past. Perhaps one day the living will not need suffer the corruption of the damned." Mordain sighed and made his way back into the large chamber, before summoning a Seeker to take him to his quarters. |

Nathaniel nodded his head once as he left to follow the Seeker. He was led to a simple room in a corridor of many similar quarters. While they were sparse Nathaniel was glad of the room, he would need the rest for the ordeals they would likely face soon. Sitting down on the basic cot Drakkon put his possessions down, sat his staff on top of the bags, before lying down to rest. He kept his sword belted just in case. While Mordain had said the prison was a secret and was well-defended, there was no knowing just what limits Krodalis and his minions might have. |

Mordain paced around his own room. He was restless. He knew full-well that he needed to conserve his strength, but rage flew through him this night. Rage, and confusion. There was a part of him that seemed... different. Not another side to the demon, no, but something else entirely. A feeling that longed of what had once been memories. It was a strange feeling. It seemed to claw at the surface of his form, and just as it was about to scratch through, it was swallowed by rage. And that, in itself, made him angry. Was this... was this a feeling that the demon had forbidden him, so long ago? Whatever it was, it had been so long since he had felt it that, well, he simply did not remember how to feel it any more. But the cause. That was of far greater interest. Mordain cared little for emotions, for he simply had none. But reasoning was important. If whatever this was could become a weakness, it would have to be addressed. |

As Nathaniel slept he fell into a dream, his eyes beginning to move rapidly under his eyelids. There was mist but Nathaniel was inside. The large throneroom was cool, a soft breeze came through the open windows. He did not understand why there was mist in the palace. The obsidian thrones were ahead of him, several marble steps up from where he stood on the polished floor. The decoration was like he remembered it, tapestries hung from the walls and the architecture was embellished with obsidian. He looked at the thrones and saw the beautiful woman who sat on one of them. She looked at him with a sly grin. Nathaniel said "You again." The woman opened her mouth and spoke "Uoy dluow ton tegrof." Nathaniel replied sadly "I'd like to. You represent another one of my failed attempts at freedom." The Empress shook her head, and her features seemed to blur as if she was moving faster than Nathaniel could properly see. She said "Ehs tonnac evomer modeerf morf uoy fi uoy od ton tel reh." The dream began to change to something else. The night drifted on as Nathaniel's head turned one way and then the other on the pillow. His hand twitched reflexively, coming to rest on the hilt of the sword. |

((I was going to post more, but I didn't know if you were going to post anything.)) Nathaniel found himself hovering in the black. It was strange, he felt almost weightless, and yet he found himself slowly kicking his legs and moving his arms, as if trying to stay afloat in water. Suddenly the woman was beside him, smiling. Nathaniel darted backwards as if shocked and he said "What is going on?" The young woman looked at him and then there was a blue smudge of colour over her face. It was as if it conveyed something not spoken in words, but the language of the mind. Nathaniel replied sarcastically "Well, you never were the talkative sort Kaylyn." She frowned and everything turned red. Nathaniel nodded "Understandable I guess. I never helped you, I never helped Orin or the others. We fought together, but the others died. I didn't... I survived. Now I'm dying slowly so you'll have to forgive the harshness of my attitude." Kaylyn made everything green and then she vanished. Nathaniel found himself on a clear glass road, surrounded by the blackness of nothing. It led to a castle of crystal, with spires glinting high. Nathaniel started walking, he wondered why he had to go here, but secretly knew the answer. What it represented, Nathaniel did not know, his hopes perhaps. Really the only thing which Nathaniel knew was that in that bright, impressive place was the seed of something evil and despicable and repulsive and vile and monstrous. His enemy was there, waiting, and something had to be done. Drakkon knew Death by name and Death was called Lilith Albrecht. But Nathaniel Drakkon was tough and stubborn, he had faced things which would make other people run and hide inside their minds and never peek out. He had seen things which could make funny little masks of people's faces and wear them to dance at the end of time. But he was Nathaniel Drakkon, he was the one last kick in the teeth of everything Weissland decreed was wrong. He could make Death cry and hide from him. Here, in the dark, he was King and beggar, Lord and peasant, the first and the last and the lonely voice which does not falter. ((Just to make it clear, I'm finished. So we can move on to morning now.)) Edited by Gorfang, Oct 19 2010, 01:50 PM.

Even Wyrillyn slept that night, but it was not a peaceful sleep. Such a thing was not known to him. His mind was... chaotic. What he saw was the end of days. Oceans boiling, plants dying, the ground itself being torn apart. He prayed that it was not the future he saw, for now he was gazing out upon Krodalis's world. The elements themselves were being turned upon one another before being consumed by endless surges of deathly magic that drove all into nothingness. And he saw a terrible shadow; he saw Krodalis. Yet, he did not see him as the others had seen him. No. He saw what he had seen many years ago. He saw Krodalis in his true form. He saw Krodalis for what he truly was. It was what had haunted him for all these years. The extent of his darkness, the true oblivion of his intentions. Around the slumbering elves, a crowd of Seekers had gathered. They listened and watched in silent terror. "No, creature! NO! NO!" howled Wyrillyn, his arm thrashing violently as he spat the words with venom. "They do not know. No one knows. NO ONE! But I know, I have seen, you showed me. You SHOWED ME!" "Should we wake him?" whispered one of the Seekers. Another shook his head. "Do you want to go near him?" Maniacal laughter burst forth from Wyrillyn's lips, followed by more ramblings. "No more, no more, no more, no more. Please! I don't want to see any more. I don't want to see!" One of the Seekers began pacing around the room, staring intently at the bottom of the wall. "Hey, he's scratched those runes all around the room!" Wyrillyn, though not opening his eyes, responded to that. "Runes. All in the runes. The runes. The runes. The runes. They will keep me safe. Safe. Safe. Safe. The runes. Safe. The runes. Safe. Always safe. Never leave. Always safe." He contorted once again. "Never safe. He will find me. He always finds me. Always. Always. Always. Shadow, it will consume. Consume, it will consume. Everything. Everything. Everything..." |

Nathaniel woke early. He got up and looked around the room. He noticed that the sword was no longer belted at his waist, but was instead lying on the ground in the middle of the floor pointing exactly at one of the corners of the small room. Sighing Nathaniel picked the weapon up and put the belt around his waist. He said quietly "Gods only know what this sword is all about." |

Mordain stood in the entrance chamber listening to the Seekers quivering about Wyrillyn. "He's not right, Lord Mordain. In his sleep... he said things, horrible things." The Seeker looked over at Wyrillyn, he was awake and hunched over in a corner, gently rocking back and forth and muttering beneath his breath. "Is there... is there any truth to what he is saying?" "No, Seeker. I have told you this already!" snapped Mordain. "Put the words of a crazy old elf out of your mind. They have no place there!" |

As the spell spheres returned to him Nathaniel looked over the information. He said "There was a small settlement east of Amei, called Melldin. Apparently the locals have heard nothing from Melldin for some time. One of the Watchmen in the area checked it out, the people were slaughtered. He did not investigate closer but there seemed to be something in the centre of Melldin, something alive. It could be something else but the way the dead were described I think it was that plague demon which caused it. Perhaps they left one of their number behind, after all the winged woman was not amongst those who attacked us south of here." He finished "The only other information is about our battles in the Lekath Grasslands so just old trails. Not much to work with. Unfortunately I think some of our enemies will have to make trouble to be found. Which leads to innocent deaths." |
