((Hahaha, Andy ))Zuka was lying on his back, his eyes were closed. Naturally he had thought about his fallen friends, but that was not what was on the young Dragon's mind at the moment. He had been truly fascinated by the duality of magic. He had witnessed today his fellow Dragons being mercilessly and instantly murdered by this mysterious form of energy and only minutes later had the same sort of energy helped some of the Dragons survive. Zuka had seen enchanted things on his adventures across the Realm, but this sort of direct magic was new to him. It had horrified him, yet intrigued him at the same time. He wanted to learn the ways of magic, to be a powerful mage like the ones they had encountered today; like the ones that he was currently camping with. This was true power. Without control of it, Zuka felt like nothing. He would survive this endeavour and after that, he would study the ways of magic - no matter what! |

James lay down and closed his eyes, trying to rest before it all continued the following day. Try as he might he could not relax, he did not like magic, and what he had seen today and compounded that dislike. |
"Should you ever feel agony for the loss of your Brothers due to enemy guns, bear through it with a stern smile and let your enemy know that you will get into combat soon enough. His judgement cannot be avoided! Should your charge falter under heavy resistence, roar your devotion in His name and amount whatever strength you have left at one enemy point and crush it utterly! Let the enemy feel your pain by turning their's into agony! Ash opened his eyes with a start. His hand was on his sword's hilt immediately. He stood up and glanced at the camp. His people were still asleep. The sun would rise soon. He had fallen asleep and he had not meant to. Still, it had probably been a good thing - at least since the camp had not been hit. Ash saw that Mordain was already awake. The Dragon then remembered that the mage had said something about "not sleeping at all". Ash walked to Mordain and muttered, "'Morning" |

Nathaniel awoke calmly, which made a change from many nights sleep the mage had awoken from over the past seven years. As was often true he found his sword not where he had left it. Nathaniel had left it in its scabbard at his side, underneath his robe at one side, where it would be concealed but within reach of him should they be attacked. Now it sat out of the scabbard across his lap, the red sheen of the rune-encrusted blade like blood. Sitting up he returned the blade to its scabbard and fastened it to his belt. Standing up he stretched and yawned quietly, before pulling the large hood of his robe up to cover much of his face. |

Mordain merely gave Ash a nod of acknowledgement in responce. "There is no time to waste." said Wyrillyn as he stood up. "We should get moving." |

Nathaniel picked up his musette bag and slung it over his shoulder. Reaching out his hand, he used magic to pull his newly crafted staff to his hand. Without waiting for the rest of the group he started walking. |

As the group walked on, Zuka could not help but ponder on some way to start learning about magic already on this journey. He was lost in his own thoughts and was very surprised when he realized that one of his friends had been trying to talk to him. "Zuka? Where the hell are you, man?" Marius said as he gently punched the day-dreaming Dragon's shoulder. "Oh, hey Marius," was Zuka's slightly confused answer, "Just thinking, buddy. About this strange land and all" "Hell," Marius said grimly, lowering his voice to a whisper, "If it was to me, I'd say we leave as soon as we can. What else is here for us than suffering and death?" Zuka glared angrily at Marius and replied, through his teeth, "Get that outta your head, mano! We do as Ash says. Last thing we want is to start backstabbing each other like some dirty Serpents!" Marius held up his hands in an appologizing manner as he raised his eyebrows, "Relax, Zuka. Won't abbandon you or anything! Just - this land and all these mages," Marius quietly replied as he glanced at Mordain and Nathaniel, "they give me the creeps, man." "You fear the unknown!" Zuka said, disapprovingly. "And is that not natural?" was Marius' reply. Zuka said nothing. Fearing the unknown was a natural instinct. But instincts can be wrong, Zuka said to himself as he walked on in silence. This land would bring him more than suffering and death. He would make it his goal. Marius shook his head and said no more. |

Mordain moved forward at a good pace, carrying his staff in one hand by his side. He hoped that by the end of the day, they would be able to move north. Their destination was in the mountains, not Asulien. In light of his brief period of service, Mordain expected that Nathaniel would be very interested to see where they were going. The Realmers, however, would perhaps be shocked at what they would see. It had been almost a decade since Mordain had walked the halls of Carak Prison. |

Nathaniel kept walking quickly, but kept his wits about him. Their enemy would attempt to stop them reaching any form of safety, and he expected such an attack would materialise eventually. What forces Krodalis actually had were unknown to Drakkon, obviously, but it would be foolish to believe that those minions they had faced at Amei would be all Krodalis commanded. |

Marius turned his head to see James calling at him. The red-haired man had been wounded in yesterday's battle, but the mages' magic had healed him and although he felt some lingering pain, he was grateful that he could move without problems and that he was not slowing the party down. As they walked on, he moved to James and tilted his head upwards as a means of greeting the superior Dragon. --- Zuka decided to use the time here to prepare his upcoming quest. He had nothing to lose. He could at least try, even though he had no idea what reaction he would provoke. The Dragon moved a bit faster so as to reach Mordain. Walking besides the mage, he quietly said, "Thank you for saving my friends yesterday, sir. The power you posses is astounding!" Zuka despised his sycophantic approach, but he had decided that being polite was the way ahead. He had noticed that when Ash had had a minor outburst he had received a not-so-minor threat from Nathaniel. |

"Power can be a burden more than it can be a gift. My ability to save the likes of yourself and your company is but a small token by comparison to the cost." replied Mordain, his eyes remaining forward. "If you wish to thank me, do so in battle against the enemy." He paused briefly. "And you need not address me as 'sir'. I am not your lord, nor am I even a lord in my own lands anymore." The small gesture was perhaps the closest Mordain could achieve to an act of kindness. Whether the Realmer knew that or not, however, mattered little to him. |

Zuka nodded without expressing any emotion, but internally he was disappointed. The only hint of him breaking the ice had been Mordain's final comment. Zuka judged that these powerful Weisslendings never said anything but the absolutely necessary. Thus, Zuka thought that Mordain might be getting a fraction more friendly with that remark on the title. Why else bother? Zuka walked on in silence. After a minute or so he spoke again, "Can it be learned - this power? Or is it something you are born with?" It was a gamble, Zuka knew. The mage could grow tired of his curious questions and dismiss him. Recent experience with these Weisslanders might indicate that this outcome was the most likely, yet Zuka hoped that Mordain would be just a bit more accommodating; if he would just shed a little light on this matter. --- Marius smiled at James as he said, "I'm fine, sir! Took some hits yesterday, but our new," Marius altered his tone of voice slightly, "friends saved me from the brink of death!" A grunt later, Marius humorously added, "I saw the white light, James! It was...white!" Marius laughed. Things had been so dark lately. It felt good to laugh a little. Only then did he feel truly alive. |
