Kaeddin was a village, once home to around four hundred elves. It sat less than fifty yards from the edge of the Crevasse. The elves had long thought it to be cursed, for none could ever explain its existance. Their fears were brought to fruition when Kvahla arrived in the village. She had arrived perhaps four years ago. At first, the elves had welcomed her, for they were a friendly community. But, after a mere handful of days, they noticed that those she spent most of her time with had fallen seriously ill, some already dead. They moved to confront her about it. She found their accusations to be... insulting.

Kvahla sat in the centre of the town, upon a throne constructed from the bones of dead elves. Corpses littered the village; some old, some fresh. Out of the four hundred that once lived there, only twelve remained, starved, bruised and broken.

One cowered at her feet. "Pl-please... J-just let us g-go..." he whimpered.

"To what end?" she asked. Kvahla was draped in a thick, black dress. Fur rimmed the top, which pulled about her form, leaving her shoulders and neck exposed. A black, silk, barely-transparent covering was draped around her head. It ran over her nose, under her eyes and round to her ears, from there falling down to cover anything that the dress did not. Upon her hands, she wore long, elegant black gloves. The skin around her eyes was red, and the white of her eye had turned sickly yellow. "Look what I've done here. You all had a lovely, peaceful, even charming village. You lived in happieness, surrounded by family and friends in an enviroment where everyone knew everyone." She leaned forward. "And then I laid it all to waste. The twelve of you that remain have no family left, no homes, nothing left to live for. Except to fulfil that most distasteful desire to survive. You really think there is any purpose to it? Anything your pathetic ilk once held as their reasons for living, I have taken. So why, why do you want me to release you? I ask you again; to what end?"

The elf spluttered as he tried to find his words, but they were lost to him.

"Enough." she said dismissively. Her hand swept down towards him, firing a bolt of pure darkness into him and killing the man instantly.

Dark laughter flooded through the area. Kvahla rose, looking around for the source. A shade manifested before her. Instantly, she dropped to her knees with her head lowered. "Master."

"Greetings, Kvahla." Krodalis looked around. "I see you have been pursuing the cause."

"The crusade will never fade, my Master." she said with her head still lowered.

Krodalis opened his arms. "Come, Kvahla, rise. You need not bow to me."

She did as instructed and rose. "What would you ask of me, Master?"

"My time to walk this world again approaches. When it arrives, we will rally all of our old allies and the crusade will continue under my command. But, before I can return, I require certain people. And they are eluding me. Nhazhan and Anailla failed to capture them in Amei."

Kvahla said nothing. Her eyes remained fixed on her Master.

"You must capture a boy by the name of Kristian, as well as Wyrillyn Thaendil."

Kvahla tapped her finger off her chin. "The boy is a remnant?"

Krodalis nodded. "Yes, but he doesn't know how to unlock his power. And I think capturing him will be made easier if he should remain ignorant of his ability."

"Understood, Master. Should I know anything else?"

"Yes. Mordain Thaendil is protecting them. As the strongest of the remnants, he is a dangerous enemy that is not to be underestimated. You will find them in Turschen at the moment, but they will not linger there long. Travel west and search for Anailla and Nhazhan. They will aid you."

With that, Krodalis vanished.

Kvahla looked around. The frightened faces of the remaining eleven elves stared back at her from different locations. Kvahla raised one hand and conjured black energy into it. She flattened her hand, pressed it against her lips and then blew a kiss into the wind, dispelling the black power and sending it unseen through the village. The elves coughed, choked and fell over dead several moments later.

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

One of the Last Guardians. Suck it.
