So the RPGs we usually have all involve us being really important, powerful characters. How would people like to do an RPG with basic, insignificant-type characters who have to learn to be powerful and become important over a long period of time? |

Would this involve rules or would it be completely freeform? I'm interested either way but I think it would be good to have some concrete rules which show our characters progressing and becoming more powerful along with our regular rping. |

Indeed, I figured we'd do it with rules: stats, exp, quests, equipment, etc. |

Great stuff, I'm definately in then. I was so disappointed when the Realm of Purity rpg got changed from using d&d rules to just freeform, I was looking forward to having a character starting off as a relative nobody and hopefully becoming a powerful individual. |

Yeah. Should we use those rules? Or our own? I feel like using established rules would be easier. Also, I feel like we should create our own world as well, is anyone else up for that? |

Yeah, established rules would be easier. A completely new setting would be interesting. |

Hmmm, nothing much is coming to mind, but I do have one idea. I'd like to see a setting which is perhaps not as xenophobic as most fantasy settings tend to be. So we could still have races like orcs, but people would go to war with them as a nation for reasons other than "you're evil and your race must be exterminated." We could still have some evil races like undead, or evil nations maybe, but I think it would be interesting to have a setting where realms go to war with each other over territory, resources, etc, rather than certain races being uniformly evil. Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly, but a setting where people are evil or good based on their actions, instead of just because they are race x or y. There could still be lots of dangerous creatures to fight, and bandits, raiders, assassins, and so on. I just think it would be interesting to have perhaps some more multi-racial lands with the trouble being in the forms of evil individuals and groups. Anyway, that's just an idea, other people might have other ideas. |

I feel like that would be good, as in there should be no purely good or evil races, but I also think that there should still be race-oriented kingdoms in some areas, while in other areas things are more diverse. Like there could be different people in each race who have different views, perhaps after a recent war. Like Humans could have once been very xenophobic, but after a recent war in which they had to ally with the Elves, some Humans now live openly and cooperate, while others remain very wary and conservative. One idea I had for the Human race, in particular, was it to be somewhere in a southern part of a continent, centering around a large, powerful capital city, which would, with the farmland surrounding it, be the economic and cultural beacon for the Humans. In this city, people would mostly be very conservative, but the further you got from the city, the more liberal people would become, as towns were smaller and relied more on cooperation than the self-sufficient city. |

Sounds good. Another idea I had was for part of the map somewhere to have a large number of islands, like dozens of large islands and hundreds of smaller ones. Not sure who would make up the majority of the populations on the occupied islands, possibly lizardfolk, but other races could have colonies or settlements on some islands. The different people there would trade with each other and co-operate against their main threat which would be pirates. Also since you've mentioned Elves, I'll mention Dwarves. I think it would be interesting to have Dwarves that don't have some sort of ancient grudge with Elves. They could be quite firm allies, or just by nature of their geographical locations don't have much offical contact. Maybe the Dwarves are politically opposite to the conservative humans and have butted heads on several occasion, but avoided full-scale war, and instead find kinship politically and idealogically with the orcs. That would be a bit of a twist. Anyway, I'm just throwing out ideas at the moment and I'll keep thinking of things. Hopefully others will give some ideas and we can flesh things out. |

What other races would be included? Elfs? half Elfs? Dragonborn? Dwarfs? Orcs? Humans? Teiflings? Beasts? |
"Should you ever feel agony for the loss of your Brothers due to enemy guns, bear through it with a stern smile and let your enemy know that you will get into combat soon enough. Let the enemy feel your pain by turning their's into agony! Should you lay beaten and dying on the field, laugh with pride for even in death our enemies will fear us, leave them with a scar that will haunt them till the time of their retribution!" - Chaplain Valorus | |

Gorfang, those are some great ideas. I'll go ahead and flesh out the Humans and their history and stuff, if you want to do the same for the Elves and the Dwarves, that'd be awesome. I'll also do the Orcs if that's ok...you wanted them to be friends with the dwarves, you said?As for races, we've talked so far about: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs. I'm sure there would be half-elves, but what else would you people want? |

Sure, I'll work on the Elves and Dwarves, although if anyone has any ideas for them I'm sure we can add it all in. And yes, I think the Dwarves should be friends with the Orcs, economically at least, but probably military allies as well. But I'll leave it up to you to decide just how closely allied they are. I also mentioned lizardfolk, I'd like to see them included but I don't have any further ideas about them apart from possibly mostly living in the island areas I mentioned. Maybe someone else has ideas for them. I'd also like to see minotaurs as a race, even if they're just animals rather than sentient people. |
