Nathaniel stepped away from the bodies of the mercenaries and sheathed his sword. Mordain had called it a gamble and in a way it was, but it was a well calculated gamble. Nathaniel had learned that there was a question which could unlock a person's potential, words which could turn someone to a certain path. Drakkon had found his question, something few people did for themselves, and this had given him just the slightest chance of doing the same to other people, bending them to his will if he chose it. It was an ancient kind of magic, something that could not be written down in spell books and recited. For Nathaniel Drakkon the question was why? It required a purity of purpose and a strength of conviction and will, and it did not always work. It was as much dependant on the person hearing the question as the one asking it. And this clarity and understanding was not something most people had. Nathaniel had come at this in a round-about way though. His purity of purpose came from doing everything he thought was best for Weissland, often at his own expense, and the strength of conviction and will, well, that was just who he was. From what he knew of Mordain it was probably something he could learn to do. But, Nathaniel thought, there's no time for such discussions now. |

Wyrillyn finished his work; he had placed strange markings on the trees around them. "It would seem that we're going to be delayed." he said harshly, shooting a glance towards the Realmers. "These runes will block the Dark Lord's vision. Do not stray from this area until we are ready to leave." |

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it.

James nodded, "I hope they shall be here soon." |
"Should you ever feel agony for the loss of your Brothers due to enemy guns, bear through it with a stern smile and let your enemy know that you will get into combat soon enough. His judgement cannot be avoided! Should your charge falter under heavy resistence, roar your devotion in His name and amount whatever strength you have left at one enemy point and crush it utterly! Let the enemy feel your pain by turning their's into agony! Should you lay beaten and dying on the field, laugh with pride for even in death our enemies will fear us, leave them with a scar that will haunt them till the time of their retribution!" - Chaplain Valorus

((Merci)) Arriving at the clearing, Ash immediately spotted James. Ash gave some quick orders to his Dragons via hand signals and hurried to James. Meanwhile, Zuka organized the Dragons into forming a perimeter around their leaders. "Sitrep, James! On the double!" |

Mordain turned quickly towards the newcomers, staff in hand. "Identify yourself." he said, his voice possessed of an obvious threat. |

While waiting for the Realmers to digest this information, Nathaniel walked away from the group to where the bodies of the dead mercenaries lay. He picked up the two-handed axe which had been used by the elven leader. The haft of the weapon was very long, but not long enough for his needs. Removing the axe-head would not make a suitable replacement staff. Perhaps some sort of transformation spell could be used, although Drakkon was not sure he could afford to use that much magic just now. He stood there examining the weapon for the time being. |

"What makes them so important?" Ash asked coldly, still angry about the whole situation. What had James gotten them into? Ash shot James a quick, angry look before turning to Mordain once more, "And how do we know if we have been infected? If you have?" |

Mordain looked to Wyrillyn, waiting for him to answer the first question. But the old elf said nothing. The Mage of Shadows turned back to the Realmers. "If any of my company had been infected, I would sense it. This affliction is born of magic. And if you had been infected, then you would feel it." |
