--Enters from Palein Woods-- Mordain began moving through the trees. The wolves were no threat, though the bears did warrant some caution. It was the lycans he was worried about though. But, since the creatures tended to stay near the heart of the forest, he was fairly certain that he and Nathaniel would be safe near the edges. |

As Mordain walked, he looked up at the derelict trees above. With winter now upon them, the leaves were gone. It gave the forest an eerie presence. To complete it, a faint fall of snow began as they moved. |

As the snow started to fall, Nathaniel looked up. Winter, snow, it brought back memories. It reminded him of the dance his parents used to hold at their estate every winter, and after one such winter, when his brother had been murdered. Drakkon remembered another particularly harsh winter a few years ago in another land, and everything he went through there. |

They were a good few hours into the night when Mordain stopped and turned to Nathaniel. "Amei is close. Once we get there, we will need to be on our guard. There will be no time for rest, so if you require any more then get it now." |

He only nodded, saying nothing more as they pressed on. It was a few hours to Amei; he hoped to close that distance in less. |

Nathaniel continued walking. He had lost his staff during the rearguard battle at Ledek's span. It seemed so long ago now. Without it Drakkon could use his sword easier but still he felt incomplete without the staff when walking. Rather strange to think so much about it, the staff was just a roughly carved piece of wood. |

The snow fell thicker and thicker, blanketing the ground and hanging thickly upon the trees. Mordain looked up into the sky briefly as he moved. They were making good progress. |

The snow was growing heavier. Nathaniel made sure his hood was covering his head properly, adjusting it as he walked. They had walked a long way, making the journey from Nairio towards Amei in a much shorter time than it would take most people to travel. |

The rest of the journey passed, Mordain growing more anxious with each passing moment. This enemy had powerful sorcerers and warriors alike in its service. In truth, Mordain did not know the enemy's identity. But he knew of its servants. Ten years ago, his father had been one of them. --Leaving Turschen Woods-- --Entering Amei-- |

--Enters from Amei-- Mordain moved through the trees, to the extent that the group couldn't be seen from the road but were still able to spy out. He fell to the ground, leaning against a tree and breathing heavily. Kristian moved to sit next to him, though said nothing. The boy didn't even make eye-contact. He just stared at the ground. Wyrillyn stood over his son. "Well, what now? He can find us. We're no safer here than we were in that city." he said grimly. Mordain took a handful of heavy breaths before replying. "We will make our way to Asulien. You and Kristian can be protected there, and hidden. But first I need to take a small break, and I have to reconstruct my robes. If they find us again, I can't rely on the demon to fight them. I might lose control again." "So?" Mordain's eyes fixed on his father. "I almost tore Kristian to pieces back there. I was on my way to do the same to Nathaniel, but it seems those divine bastards beat me to it!" |

--Enters from Amei-- "Who the hell are you people?" James asked his voice dangerous. The man with him Ben stood cautiously his weapons till drawn. |
"Should you ever feel agony for the loss of your Brothers due to enemy guns, bear through it with a stern smile and let your enemy know that you will get into combat soon enough. His judgement cannot be avoided! Should your charge falter under heavy resistence, roar your devotion in His name and amount whatever strength you have left at one enemy point and crush it utterly! Let the enemy feel your pain by turning their's into agony! Should you lay beaten and dying on the field, laugh with pride for even in death our enemies will fear us, leave them with a scar that will haunt them till the time of their retribution!" - Chaplain Valorus | |

"I am Mordain Thaendil." answered Mordain as he ran his hands over his arms, his magic trailing darkness that weaved into his robes to reform them. "And you... who are you?" |

Mordain nodded. "What Realm soldiers are doing in Weissland will have to wait." He looked to Wyrillyn. "What I want now is for you to tell us what we're up against. I know it only as the enemy, but you... you know its identity, don't you?" Wyrillyn moved to stare out at the city with his back to his companions. "This enemy is unlike anything any of you have ever faced. He is the darkness that will claim this world, the righteous arm of oblivion, the harbringer of the end of days." He turned to look at Mordain. "His name is Krodalis Thaendil. He is our ancestor." |

Mordain's face changed, his memories drifting back to his last time in the shrine. Wyrillyn saw this change in expression and moved closer. "You've seen him, haven't you?" Mordain nodded. "In a shrine, in Meiroi Wood. He.. possessed one of my companions. I was forced to kill him. His power was great, but distant. I did not think of him as a threat." "Well, he's real, and he's dangerous." "What does he want with me?" asked Kristian, speaking for the first time. Wyrillyn turned to the boy. "You, like Mordain, hold a portion of his power within you. You are what he calls a 'remnant'. If Krodalis returns, he will seek to gather his power by claiming it from all the remnants he can find." Mordain looked over at Kristian, then back to his father. "Then we are both vulnerable. His servants will come for us." "You can defend yourself!" exclaimed Kristian. "What can I hope to do against them?" Wyrillyn turned away, but smirked. |

Mordain finished the reconstruction of his robes and completed it by placing the shroud within his hood once more. Leaning heavily on his staff, he pulled himself to his feet and looked to the Realmers. "Are there more of you? Will you be coming with us?" he asked impatiently. |
