Cindillus was built on a mountain on the very edge of the Defiled Kingdom, far beyond the eyes of mortals. Its architecture was the stuff of legend, as its beauty had once been too. A city constructed in the side of a mountain tip itself. The stairs that allowed access took half a day to climb, for they wound around the edge of the mountain itself. But the city had fallen from grace into decay and ruin over the long millenia of its existence. Many of the Seraphim had been slain by Krodalis's enemies during the great war. The few that had survived had done what they could to endure, but times had changed and they had faded away. Only Anailla remained. At the top of the city was the temple palace, where Anailla sat upon a throne of gold. The city was constructed from white stone, rimmed in gold and adorned in marble. Rubble, cracks and untamed plant life had claimed the city, though. As well as this, the remains of Anailla's victims littered the streets. The ancient Seraphim's head rose when a sound from below reached her ears. Gripping her sword, she stood up and moved forward with purpose; killing the intruder. She rounded a corner to find a towering form of shadow standing there. "Tell me your name so I can mark your grave." she said harshly, though her voice would be considered a harmony of divine sounds by mortals. "Long have you awaited this day Anailla." said the shade. The Seraphim literally shook with shock. She dropped her sword to the ground and a few tears began to slide down her cheeks. "...Master?" The shade turned to face her. "Yes, Anailla, it is I. The time has arrived." "I have waited... so long, my Master. So long..." her voice was filled with overwhelming joy. "The end of this world, of life itself, is once again within our grasp. Soon I will walk this world again. When I return, I intend to reclaim all of my power. And that is why I have come, my dear. One of my lesser servants has come across a remnant, hidden away within a boy." "What would you have me do, my Master?" "Go to the city of Amei and capture the boy. Nhazhan, you will find, is there already. But I will not risk failure. You shall both go." The shade moved closer. "Remind this world of why they feared the skies." Anailla lowered her head and retrieved her sword. "It will be done, Master." --Leaving Cindillus-- --Entering Amei-- |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |
