The Urdo ruins covered a hill half a day south-east from Amei. No one knew what they had once been, but they were so decayed that now they served as nothing more but decoration for the landscape. Plant life had risen from the ground to claimb the stones, leaving only the slightest trace of fortification. In the heart of the ruins there was a strange statue, depicting a horrid demon of some sort. Because of it, the locals mistrusted the location. But today, a single man stood before it in black robes. The power of Krodalis washed over the place as the Dark Lord arrived to guide his minion. This was the resting place of Nhazhan, one of Krodalis's first servants. The Plague Bringer was a force of terrible power, capable of spreading disease throughout entire cities in mere days. Where he walked, life ended. Markus stood staring at the statue. He had served his Master for the better part of fifty years, but the sight of the statue filled him with dread. It radiated with great power, something that none of the locals were capable of picking up on. "Speak the words, my servant. Nhazhan will live again." commanded Krodalis. "As you command, my Master." replied Markus. The black-clad necromancer began chanting the words that were inscribed upon the base of the statue. When spoken by one who was powerful enough, they would release Nhazhan from his hibernation. The inscription was written in a language so old that no living person could read it, but Krodalis could. He whispered each word into the ear of Markus, the man then repeating it. When all the words had been spoken, Markus took a quick step back from the statue. Its eyes were consumed by an unearthly green glow as dark clouds quickly manifested overhead. From the eyes, green energy fell and streak across the surface of the statue until it reached the earth. From there, it pushed underneath the statue until all the energy was gone and the statue looked normal once more. A handful of moments passed before the ground began to shake. The statue, slowly, began to shatter. It blew apart. The ground beneath was blackened and dead. A horrid, green hand pushed out of the earth. It was followed by the rest of the creature's body. The monster pulled itself from the earth, standing before Markus. This was Nhazhan, the Plague Bringer. He was over six-feet tall and wearing only black trousers, boots and a black robe that was wrapped about his form. His clothes were tattered and torn. His eyes were blood-red and his skin a sickly shade of green. In a good number of places, the surface of his skin was cracked or covered in spots and sores. Dried blood covered a large part of his body. His lips were gone, leaving his blackened gums and fang-like teeth for all to see. This was the bringer of disease. After seeing him, it was not hard to believe. "I... have awoken..." hissed Nhazhan. "And I have a task for you, my servant." said Krodalis, appearing before them as a towering shade. "My Masster..." said Nhazhan, kneeling before the shade. "Long have you slept, Nhazhan, awaiting the day that I would call upon you. That day has arrived. I will call upon all my servants from the ancient time to finish our great work." "It... iss only my... dessire to serve you... Masster... All will be ass you... wissh..." Krodalis moved closer. "Soon, the time will arrive for me to return to this world. When I do, I wish to reclaim my power. One vessel of my power has been found on a ship, moving rapidly towards Amei. You will travel to this city and ensure that the boy is captured." "Then... my Masster... all life will end... just as you have wisshed..." rapsed the creature. "Everything will be... desstroyed..." Markus took a step back. "What? What are you talking about, monster? The Master will deliver the world to us! We will rule as Kings!" Nhazhan looked from the human to his Master. "Your sservant sseemss to be... confussed... Masster..." "The servants I can find these days are not as... faithful as they used to be. Lies seems to be the best way of securing them." The shade turned and waved his hand towards Markus. "End this one. His only purpose was to bring you back to this world." Markus's eyes went wide with both shock and fury. "Master! I will not be cast aside like some mere-" The man was able to get no further. Nhazhan shot towards him and gripped him tightly about the throat. Markus was lifted off the ground and struggled to breath as the skin on his neck was blackened and decayed by Nhazhan's will. The Plague Bringer soon dropped the man's corpse to the ground. He turned back towards his Master. "To Amei... I go... my Masster..." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |
