--Enters from Amei-- Kassandra stood at the front of the ship, looking out at the ocean around her. The peaceful blue of the sea, mirrored by the glorious calm of the sky. Wind played here and there as the sun gently kissed the water's surface with its glow. It was all so... repulsive. Her Master's plan was no secret to her, as it was to the men and women with her. She knew what awaited the world. She knew what she had to do to bring such an end. Long had Kassandra served Krodalis, since she was twenty-seven years old. And that was nearly seven hundred years ago. The Great Necromancer, the first and true Great Necromancer, had powers others could not even being to imagine. She served him in return for the gift he had given her; immortality. From the wheel, Brakk looked down at Kassandra, but kept his eyes away when she turned. "Captain, what of these mercenaries?" asked Vold, his first mate. "What of them?" responded Brakk. "Do we trust them?" Brakk laughed. "Of course not. But we're getting paid, so what do we care? Besides, crossing the mercenaries means crossing Kassandra, and I doubt you'll be wanting to do that anytime soon, Vold." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

--Entering from Amei-- The mercenaries had moved below deck to store their packs and equipment. The six mercenaries moved to the three rooms which had been provided for them and put their stuff away. The voyage to the White Realm would not be over too quickly, even in good weather, so the mercenaries decided to stay in the rooms for a while and get some rest. It would not be long before they were in a combat situation again, and there would be no relaxation there. Akeld sat down on a simple wooden chair in his room. Nacea lent against the nearby wall and said "Do you think we can trust this Kassandra woman?" Akeld answered "As long as she is paying us, yes." Nacea continued "And what about the pirates?" The mercenary leader said "Pirates can't even trust other pirates. But these ones seem loyal to Kassandra, so I don't think there will be a problem. Once again, as long as she's paying us." Nacea looked slightly worried "I just think you should watch your back Akeld." He said with a smile "Don't worry Nacea, I've got you to watch my back." |

There came a knock at the mercenary leader's door. Without waiting for an answer, the door was opened and a boy looked in. He was fairly short, with scruffy brown hair and brown eyes. The slight tan on his skin showed he'd spent his life at sea, in the sun. "Captain sent me down to see if you wanted anything to eat?" asked the boy. His name was Kristian. He was the ship's cabin boy. |

Akeld looked across at the door where the cabin boy stood. The elven mercenary replied "Very well, bring us some food. Thank you." Nacea sat on the edge of the bed. She did not look up at the boy, as she was intently checking the many arrows from her quiver one at a time. |

Kristian turned and left, making his way along the ship and up into the kitchen where the cook had prepared some food. A simple broth along with bread and some strips of roasted meat. "Take this lot down to the mercs then, Kris." said the cook. Kristian took everything, bundling the bread into a bag and putting the meat on a tray over the top of the large bowl of broth. It would be enough to feed the six mercenaries. He was quick, moving back into the mercenary room by opening the door with his back. "Here you are. Fresh from the kitchen. Got some beef, some bread and a big bowl of broth. Will that do you?" asked the boy, placing the tray, bag and big bowl down on the floor. ----- Vold walked around the deck, peaking his head round the corners and down below deck. Finally, he turned and walked towards Brakk. "Captain, where's my lad gone?" "I sent him down to get those mercs some food." Brakk looked directly at Kassandra. "Got to make them feel welcome aboard my ship." The woman met the captain's gaze and walked back towards him. "Is there a problem, captain?" Brakk looked as if he was going to say something, but then bit his lip and shook his head. "No, milady." "Good. I shall be in my quarters. Don't disturb me." With that, she walked below deck and disappeared into her room, closing the door behind her. Brakk looked over at Vold and rolled his eyes. |

Kristian nodded. "Alright then. Well, I'll be up on the deck, sir. If you need anything else, just tell me." He turned and left the room, heading for the deck. "Ah, there's the boy!" shouted Vold as Kristian reached the deck. "Keeping the mercs happy, are you?" "Of course." he replied. "And what about our other passenger?" asked Vold, lowering his voice. Kristian shrugged. "I haven't seen her." Vold moved over to the boy. "Listen, kid. That woman's paying us a lot, but I don't like it. Stay away from her, ok? Make friends with the mercs. See if they know anything more about her than we do." |

Akeld took some of the food to the two other rooms, one occupied by Riace and Pagno, the other by Osevis and Conainn. He returned to his own room and sat down beside Nacea to eat their food. The two mercenaries talked quietly between mouthfuls. |

"Well, when're you going to make yourself useful? Make friends with the mercs, like I said, kid." said Vold, whacking Kristian on the back. "Do you think they'd be able to teach me to fight?" asked the boy, his young face lighting up at the mere thought of the possibility. Vold laughed. "Ah, you never know, lad. But the best way to find out is to ask!" When his foster father had finished speaking, Kristian went below deck again and knocked on the door of the mercenary leader. This time, he waited for a responce. |

Akeld turned to Nacea and said "Wait here." He left the room and knocked on the doors of the other mercenaries. When they came to the doors he spoke "Go up on the deck. Don't cause problems." Riace said "Why exactly are we going on the deck?" Akeld replied with a straight face as he walked away "To tell stories." He closed his door as the other mercenaries looked at each other dumbfounded. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Riace, Pagno, Conainn and Osevis walked up onto the deck and looked around. They moved over to the port side of the ship and stood watching the horizon. |

Below deck, Kassandra sat in her chamber. The windows were shut with the shutters blocking out all light. She had lit candles and sat in the middle of the room, her eyes closed. Dark words left her lips in no more than a hushed whisper. ----- Vold walked over to the mercenaries, another two members of the crew with him, as well as Kristian. "So, how'd our mutual employer find you lot?" asked Vold. |
