--Jessa Aeris entering from Fargon--

The horse had allowed her to make good time northward. It was night when Jessa arrived at the gates to Iludon and they were already closed. She had to spend two minutes shouting at the guards before they relented and let her in. Normally for Jessa Aeris it would have taken half that time. Perhaps I'm getting soft, she thought as the gates were opened and she rode into the main street.

Jessa Aeris was a mage of considerable power, others said on a regular basis that she should have been a mage lord by now. But still she had not been given the rank. She did not really care why, only that she would get it when the time was right. Still, during this war she felt rather misplaced. This mission could be important enough, but the fiery-haired Valoruin noblewoman wanted to do more.

Eventually after discreetly asking a few people, she was directed towards her destination. The Eagle's Eye tavern. Here she would hopefully meet the elf assassin Melcebal. She was carrying a sizable bag of gold at her side, the advance payment for his mission. With a sigh Jessa Aeris tied the reins of her horse outside and walked into the tavern.

Jessa stepped into the tavern and was instantly hit by the stale air, smoke and smell of alcohol. She moved further and let go of the door, noticing that it was rather busy in here. How was she supposed to find this elf in here?

There was nothing to do except ask. She walked up to the bar and said to the bartender "I'm looking for someone."

Before she could continue a particularly drunk individual slurred "I'd shay you found shomeone."

Jessa gave the ragged drunk a withering gaze and said "Get lost before I break your neck." He was human, so he definately was not who Jessa was here for. She turned back to the barkeep who had slowed cleaning the glass he was holding after he heard what she had just said. Jessa said "I'm looking for an elf named Melcebal."

The elven barkeep nodded and said quietly "He's over there in the tan cloak, brown hair." Jessa followed the barkeep's gaze and spotted the elf sitting alone at a table sipping a drink from a glass.

Jessa said "Thank you" and turned to leave. She wound her way through the crowd and sat down beside the elf without asking. Straight away the mage went into the conversation, not wanting to stay here a moment longer than needed "I am here to hire you on behalf of General Bayel. I understand the ground work has already been prepared?"

The elven assassin nodded and replied "Yes. You have the initial payment?"

Jessa nodded "I do. You know what you're required to do to receive the second payment?"

A slight smile played on his lips "I do. Perhaps we should go somewhere more quiet?"

Even as they began to leave the drunk from the bar was talking to another man, taller and older. They both had a bad look about them, from their general appearance to the clothes they wore. The older man was wearing far richer and more regal clothing though. He seemed to have a wicked grin on his bearded face.

Jessa Aeris walked around into the back alley with the assassin. Melcebal said quietly "I just want you to confirm what is required of me. This is not exactly a common target."

Jessa replied in hushed tones "You must kill three necromancers from the Defiled Kingdom. The methods you employ are up to you, but you will need to bring proof to receive the final payment."

Melcebal nodded "Proof?"

"Their heads. Bring us their heads, we can confirm their taint even from that." Jessa answered.

Melcebal asked "Where is their army now?"

The mage said "I do not know for sure, only that they have likely passed Fargon by now. I must leave for Asulien now, but someone else will be waiting for you back here in Iludon."

Melcebal nodded "Very well." Both of them walked out of the alley to the street. Out of the shadows moved a man. Quickly, before either could react he struck with a knife, punching it into the heart and pulling it out.

Smiling the pirate dropped the knife down on the body of Melcebal and said "Lovely evening isn't it?"

Jessa growled "You bastard!"

The pirate moved with a sudden speed and grabbed her by both wrists pulling her close to him. He said "You say that now, but perhaps you'd like to spend some time with Smilin' Jack." He grinned devilishly.

Jessa clenched her teeth in anger and spoke a few words. Without warning the pirate was catapulted across to the other side of the street and slammed into a wall before slumping down. He looked to be unconcious. Taking one look at the assassin's body, Jessa picked up the bag of gold he had been carrying and took off. She got on her horse and rode with all haste for the city of Asulien.

Two other men ran up to the pirate and helped him up. One said "Captain? What do you wanna do now?"

Captain Smilin' Jack Rodriguez straightened his coat and smiled grimly "Ah, get the lads together. We're heading back to the ship. This place is gettin' boring."
