General Bayel nodded in agreement "That's right, we should know this by now. We've all fought the undead before, not just during this war. Perhaps this is a job for the citizens and the refugees. I'm sure more than a few of them would like to do something to aid in defeating the undead, rather than sitting around waiting to see what happens." He looked around at the other people in the room and continued "If the enemy makes a serious foothold on the outer walls I think it is safe to say they will not be deterred unless their leaders are destroyed. We need to delay the bulk of the undead from reaching the battlements long enough for that to happen though." |

Korth instantly turned into a mighty bear and tore a dark elf apart. At the same time, the Legion soldiers, as well as Brae, moved forward to engage their enemy. Korth moved forward, eyeing Kalon. "Come, betrayer. Taste the wrath of the druids, the same druids you left to rot and suffer!" ----- "The chokepoints is a good point, Lord Castoden. But so is Lord Arthious's suggestion of having the civilians tear down parts of the city to use against the undead. Arrows will do little against the skeletal bulk of the enemy. And even civilians should be willing to defend their homeland." said Mordain. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "You are but a waste of my time," Kalon said. He came closer, using the shield to protect one side and the sword poised to stab. One wrong move was all it took, one move of those limbs would be the end. Arhaina was behind him now, her sword already swinging for his head. But there was nobody to protect her now; she felt hands close around her wrists and cover her mouth. She and the other dark elves disappeared, abandoning the others who tried to fight them. Kalon was the only one left now; the others were leaving. Enough of his men had been slain already. Now, he alone would finish the fight. ---- Ithrain put his head in his hands in pain. He felt a burst of powerful magic - the sword of Kalon Cyrredlues as it claimed Khanden's life - but while he was seeking out the concealing magic, it was like staring into the sun. It was like a blinding light inside of his head, and a mental agony. When it was over, he turned and said simply. "I can no longer sense the magic." ---- "But you remember your name, and that's a start. I met a bard called Kain Dantares once, you know, although that was a long time ago. He was quite well known in some parts, actually." |

Mordain turned to James. "I have not taken charge of the refugees since we arrived. Yes, some were sent east, but as far as I know there are still a large number within the city. They can handle providing the stone to hurl at our enemy." ----- "Arhaina!" cried Brae, attempting to move forward. Korth, however, turned quickly and snarled. "This one is mine! You men leave!" He shifted back into his elven form and took the weapon of one of the Legion soldiers. "Go. Try to find her." Brae and the Legion soldiers left, beginning their desperate search of the catacombs. Korth turned back to Kalon and lunged forward without a moment's hesitation. He parried the elf's deadly sword and kicked him back. "You will not leave here alive this day, betrayer." roared Korth, his eyes fiery as his fury consumed him. |

"No," Fizban Dantares said. "I am sorry. Maybe it sounds a bit familiar... but it, it is like it hurts in my head thinking about it." --------------------------------------------------- At the same time Ranorist, Justin, Bana and Cloudwulfe were quickly moving through the city towards the Sanctuary. It was a heavily guarded place and it would prove very difficult to get inside, but they needed to nonetheless. |

Bayel nodded "Yes, some of my men where assigned to find places for the refugees and escort them in the city. While most of the refugees from Crint, Ledek and everywhere from Ledek's Span to the northern bridge were sent west to Nairio, the refugees from Ataya, Adae and the surrounding towns, as well as those from Fargon have remained with the column. And I suppose there is also whatever population is in the city already, many of whom have been kind enough to open their homes to the refugees." |

Ranorist looked at the doors to the enormours temple from a distance. "No back door", he said. "And no way of getting through a window. We have little time to find another way in." "It seems we must use sheer force," Justin answered behind him. "If it really is so imperative that we reach Ariakas before the Dark Council or anyone else get involved." Cloudwulfe coughed, turning the faces of the three Mjolnir Warriors towards the grey-haired dusty fellow on the ground. "It is. Ariakas knows things now. Whatever he learned in the Crevasse, that information he must not share." Ranorist nodded and nodded towards the temple. "Bana, you and Cloudwulfe go. Me and Justin will be right behind you." Bana helped Cloudwulfe up who leant against his stick. The two of them moved slowly towards the Sanctuary and stopped in front of the gods. Bana made a courtly bow, as Ranorist and Justin waited on the other side of the street. "Greetings," Bana spoke to the guards. "Me and my older father here, seeks rest and time to pray within the temple walls. Will you allow us passage, so we can seek hope in these dark times?" |

Mordain nodded. "Good. Time is not on our side, leaders of Weissland, and so I feel we should get the civilians started on this task at once. And, as some of you have pointed-out, we must stop the construction of defences beyond the city and focus more on defences within the city itself." He gestured to a Seeker at the door who then left the room to relay these orders. |

"As I have heard, is there not a Realmer known as Morbius Stemper in Asulien?" Mistrandar asked. "A siege engineering expert?" |

"I do not know. The information that has reached me regarding who is and is not in the colum has been somewhat... distorted, at best. Do you know of this Realmer, or how we could reach him? From what you have said, it sounds like his expertise could be of some use." |

General Bayel replied "If he is perhaps he can help. But I don't put much stock in the Realmer's help. We've still not seen those eighteen thousand supposed to be aiding us." |

"He is according to what I have heard something of a marvel when it comes to siege weapons and siege warfare," Mistrandar carried on. "I will find men who can locate him, and personally try and forge a deal with him. I think we can make great use of his expertise indeed. "When it comes to the reinforcements from the Realm led by Hound," Loter Arthious added as he sat down on a bench, "I would not be to rash. Whatever end could have come to that force. If it was even just a day behind the forces of Narandar, and chances are it was much more, they would have ended up behind our column and in the straight path of our enemies. And as far as I am concerned, they were marching for Ataya and not Asulien. Let us find acceptance in that they did at least come to our land to aid us, even if news of that aid do not reach our ears." |

Mordain nodded to Mistrandar. "If you are going to seek the man out, then I would ask that you do so now. Bring him here. It will be best if all of us assembled can speak with him and see what he has to offer." Then, Mordain looked to General Bayel. "We cannot judge the Realmers too harshly, whatever their actions. Both our nations were decieved by a lie, created by a terrible evil, but it was we who invaded, not them. We invaded the White Realm and resentment is to be expected. I pray that when this is over, we will be able to rebuild our alliance with the Realm, but it will take time. In the mean time, I fear we have only ourselves to rely upon." |

Mistrandar nodded to Mordain, made a gesture to an assisting mage close to the door to follow him and left the room. "What of Daulinen and the dwarfs?" Amalrith asked. The elven mage lord had spoken recently with mage lord Paulin at the court of Lord Eben. "They are prepared for war now and are our closest comrades." |

"I would not have stayed if I thought that was the case," Kalon said. "Give up - you are outmatched in all but your rage." The dark elf lord used his shield to defend himself now, reserving the sword for his relentless jabs and swipes. He expected more in the way of magic from the druid, but of course it was difficult to concentrate on both casting a spell and parrying with a sword, especially with the added pressure of knowing failure to make that parry meant certain death. ---- One of the new guards answered. The bodies of the previous two had been taken away somewhere by now. "I would like to help you... Sometimes I think it would be best for everyone if we allowed visitors in, especially in these trying times. I'm sorry, but we're forbidden to give you passage. Would it help to speak to a priest, perhaps?" |

"Out here?" Bana said, adding a bit of sadness to his voice. "It would be great for us both seeing a priest, but is it not possible we may see one inside. If but in a small cell, or the main hall. I beg you, good man, please. We have come so far and endured so much." |

"Thank you," Bana bowed to the man as he and Cloudwulfe passed through the main doors and into the main hall beyond. Following them, Ranorist and Justin moved towards the guards and main entrance to the Sanctuary. "Can you sense him?" Bana asked as he and Cloudwufe looked at the magnificent room. "He is here," Cloudwulfe said. "But I dont know his position exactly." "Then this will be very difficult," Bana commented grimly. |
