Nathaniel thought for a moment and replied "The only thing I can think of is that the monks have tried something similar to what I did with that piece of cloth to find the criminal. A spell which would prove to them whether the King was still in Weissland or not. I admit I do not understand all of what their divine magic entails or what they are capable of beyond the superior teleportation, healing, and magical blasts we have seen, I could be completely wrong. Assuming they have confirmed the King is not in Weissland, searching the nearest neighbouring country sounds like a viable progression. After all, they do not have our information about the Ahm-Sheran girl or the ship leaving from the north-west." The mage, who now wore the mask and uniform of the Seekers, continued "I traveled briefly through Rifelindor when I left Weissland over seven years ago. There is much trouble there, a great deal of division, perhaps they think one of the factions there would kidnap the King in exchange for gold or weaponry. It is possible, but unlikely, since any ransom demands would have been made by now. I might even suggest we send a small group of Seekers to Rifelindor to make the monks think we're following similar lines of investigation, distract them from our operations in the north-west." ((Just noticed, this is the biggest topic in the whole RP.)) Edited by Gorfang, Sep 8 2011, 04:39 PM.

((Well, at 80 pages... Still it is a little surprising. But I suppose we've been so much stuff in this topic, especially since it's only really us Weisslanders left haha.)) Mordain raised his fingers to his chin. "That could be a good idea. Far more subtle than tricking them into breaking the law, yet it should be effective enough. A group of twenty would be sufficient. They could leave Asulien and we could drop their destination into the grapevine." |

"A fitting description." Mordain sighed. "You are right that they do not have the information we have relating to Ahm-Shere, but we do not have as much information on that as I would like. I want to take a fresh account from the beginning of the investigation. I want to talk to Kassal myself. He was the King's bodyguard, scarcely anywhere other than James's side. Perhaps he can shed light on this woman." He rose from his desk and left the room, just out into the corridor. From there he called a Seeker over. "Find Bradely Kassal. Tell him I want to speak with him. Do it discreetly; I do not need any repeat interference from the monks." "As you wish, Lord Mordain." He returned to his desk. "Hopefully Kassal will have more to tell, now that we have new questions to ask." |

((You can wait a while to reply to this since it is in one post and happens rather quickly, so finish whatever rping you guys need to before replying to this.)) Kassal sat in a pub somewhere in one of Asulien's shadier districts, sitting in a dark corner with no ale in sight. He never drank when he frequented these pubs. Rather, he stayed on watch for any wrongdoing, ready to step in and aid the victim and, if necessary, keep the King's Peace. Since his expulsion from the Royal Guard he had not been able to figure out his place in the country, or the world for that matter, and so, for the time being, he was doing what good he could. The door to the pub open and a man dressed in dark clothes walk in, a cloak up hiding his face. The man's head turned, searching, and Kassal saw that it finally settled on him. The man walked over and slipped into a chair at Kassal's table. Quietly, the man said, "Lord Mordain wishes to speak with you." "What about?" asked Kassal, realizing this man was likely a Seeker. "He did not say, only that he wishes to speak with you," said the Seeker. Kassal nodded. "Very well," he said. He rose from his seat and walked out of the pub, and the Seeker did so as well. "Follow me," said the man when they were out on the streets. It was beginning to grow dark, and the two men walked rapidly through the streets to the Seeker stronghold. Once there, they entered, and the Seeker reported to his superiors that Kassal had arrived. Edited by Hotshot, Sep 9 2011, 04:16 PM.

Mordain, having been informed that Kassal had arrived, walked down the corridor with Nathaniel and a clerk in-toe. He opened a door and walked into a long room that ran down one side of the building. The room was two stories tall and had tall windows along one wall to flood the room with light, though bars were kept across. At one point this was likely a mess hall. Along the room were tables, evenly spaced. Kassal sat at one. There was no need to confine him to an interrogation room. He was not under arrest, despite Mordain's wishes. The Mage of Shadows walked over and sat down opposite him. The clerk took a seat at the end of the table and made ready to write down everything that was said. "You are back here because we have new information, and therefore new questions to ask you." began Mordain, simply. He gestured idly back at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel will be asking his own questions, as he did before." Mordain put down the documents he had been leafing through and looked directly at Kassal. "The monks of Aracen have dispatched some of their order to Rifelindor. Was this motivated by anything you told them, anything that we too should know?" |

Mordain made no response to Kassal's query. If Kassal had answered no more of their questions, then what Nathaniel had said was likely true; the monks had used their own magic to direct them to Rifelindor. Whether that was good or bad news remained to be seen. "A prisoner, the one involved in taking the King, claims to have been working for a girl." continued Mordain. "We think she must have been in the King's presence at some point. Do you know anything of this?" |

Kassal thought back, to the many meetings which the King had held with various people; almost all of them had been Weisslanders, and none of them young. None of them save one. "There was one," said Kassal. "A girl from Ahm-Shere, seeking assistance for their country to overthrow their oppressive government, or so she alleged." |

"Did this girl say how or when she planned to leave Asulien? Or even Weissland for that matter?" asked Mordain as he casually jotted notes down on a piece of parchment before him. |

At this, Kassal sighed. He thought about it, but he had seen the girl one time, for an audience, and so much had happened since then. "I am sorry, my lord, but I cannot recall it," he said. |

Kassal arched an eyebrow. "My lord, with all due respect, I do not recall the girl's name, or to be honest what she looked like," he said. "Dozens of people passed through those doors every day, asking things, and yes, she stuck out, but not to the extent that I recall her name. There were many other matters that needed attention in the months that have passed since then." |
