"A man who is dedicated," said James. "A man who sees past everything and knows what is right."

Mordain lifted his hand, looking at it. He saw the blue skin and the cruel, black nails. "Look at me. I stopped being a man a long time ago. Now all that's left is this... this monster!"
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

James shook his head and said, "If that is what you claim to be, then that is what you shall be hunted as. If that is who you accept yourself to be, then that is what the world will see. And if that is what you want me to see, then that is all I see. You are not the man you once were. You are not the leader you once were. You are not the mentor you once were. You are right: you are nothing but a monster." Turning around, James said, "Go," and began walking away.

Mordain rose and walked over to Kelan, who still lay on the ground. Slowly, his sword materialized in his hand. "Maybe Mordus was right..."

James turned around, standing in front of Kelan and holding his sword out at the ready with both hands. "Get out of here."

Mordain looked down at James. "You said it yourself. I am a monster." He looked back down on Kelan. "Why should I deny what I am?"

Sparks of chaotic magic surrounded his free hand, but only in small doses.

"If you stay here, you will die," said James. "As much as I want to hate you, I don't. Get out of here."

"Let me join you in your state." Said a voice from behind. Mordus stood leaning on a demolished wall. A disturbing and unnatural aura pervaded the air around him.

"I feel very much empty." He remarked as he raised a hand to observe it. He reached for his sword but found it to be gone.
He shook his head before flinging a jet of fire at the poised combatants.

Mordain was struck by the fire and flew backwards. He stared up at Mordus with venomous eyes. "It cannot be... you were dead!"

He rose slowly and then took powerful strides towards the man. "Stay out of this." He said to James.

Mordain rose into the air, beginning to trade magical bolts with Mordus as the two began to fight once more.

James took the opportunity to drag Kelan out of the line of fire and slap him in the face several times, trying to get him to wake up.

With no weapon at hand he could do little but dodge Mordain's staff. Their bolt collided in mid air as they were exchanged, creating dazling colours in the night. Mordus remained on the ground and was driven back by the onslaught. He soon found himself backed up against a wall. The road had ended.

Feeling exposed Mordus turned quickly, throwing his tattered cloak about him. He grappled the immaterial fabric of the masonry with both hands held strained in mid air and pulled. There was a crack as the majority of the wall was ripped free and hurled at Mordain.

Mordain raised his staff above his head and then slammed the butt into the ground. A shockwave was thrown forth, shattering the ruined wall. Through the dust and debris, Mordain advanced towards Mordus.

"You are going to pay for what you've done!" He roared.

He lifted his hand and shot out with another bolt of magic, which Mordus deflected. As his enemy blocked, Mordain flew forward and grabbed him. They rose out of the area and Mordain cast Mordus down towards a group of buildings.

"Burn!" Rage had completely consumed him; it was clear, from his eyes alone, that he wanted nothing more than to see Mordus destroyed.

He lifted a hand and began forming a large sphere of chaotic magic.

Mordus was thrown bodily, without struggle towards a stately building. In time of peace it would surely have housed nobles of high stature, yet now it remained thankfully empty as Mordus crashed through the masonry and landed gracelessly on the flaggoned floor.

The crunch of bone on stone brough screams of pain to his throat as he was plunged through the building. No less real or present than before - only this time he smiled bitterly as he lay. The bones would mend, blood would harden and sinew would regrow.

The chaotic energies of Mordain burned through the air and struck the building moments after its collapse. A cloud of dust arose slowly from the wreckage as a silent messenger of result.

Mordain hovered silently for a moment, nothing but wing beats and breath breaking the silence cast by the wake of his rage. The chill of the air cast a plume of smog with every rise of his chest.

Still, for a moment the city lay. Permeating every stone in the city came the gastly laughter of one completely absolved of humanity. The rubble of the crumbled house stirred and moved as the arms and torso of Mordus struck out from the debris.

The crown remained intact but the body was scarred. Blood dripped from numerus wounds as he stood up and heaved a breath of life.

"You...will...suffer...my DISPAIR!" Came the unnatural roar from the tattered remnant of a man.

Emmiting an ear-turning sound only thought possible by beasts he called unto him his faithfull mount.

Draicha came screeching out of the high heavens towards her master, storm broiled clouds giving way to her dark, slender form.

Mordain's eyes shone bright with a powerful red glow, a sign both of his power and fury. He shot towards Mordus and threw the man back, but Mordus did not lose his footing. In the next instant, Mordain was upon him again. He struck the man aside with such force that he could hear Mordus's arm break with the impact.

The Mage of Shadows took slow, purposeful steps towards his enemy, one hand outstretched to hold his sword as it materialized into his grip.

"You speak of dispair? You speak of suffering? If you think there is any despair left for me, any suffering left for me, then you are gravely mistaken. My rage will consume you. Soulless or not, you will know agony. You will know fear. You will know suffering!" roared Mordain, sword held high as he prepared to strike.

"Then strike, friend! Strike what I am become!" Shouted Mordus with increasing pain. His arm hung limp by his side, yet his prevailing hand was held up in defiance, magic crackling with sickly green light at his fingertips.

"I will see this country buuuurnnn....!"

Mordain struck with his sword, but Mordus unleashed his spell at the same time. As Mordain's blade tore through the first layer of Mordus's skin, Mordain himself was blasted back by Mordus's magic. The Mage of Shadows roared in both pain and rage as the magic sent him hurtling backwards.

((This is getting a little ridiculous. <_< It's been 12 days since this fight has started again and there have been like 5 posts. Either Mordus needs to get on more, or we need to move on because it's keeping the roleplay from moving forward. <_< ))

((Get stuck in yourself then Rud, you've got your big magic sword to wave about. :ph43r:))

Nathaniel Drakkon's body had been brought to the keep where there were some healers. He was burning up, unconcious, but displayed no outward signs of injury. They were treating it like an illness, but the healers did not know what illness it was, and had no luck in healing him. At least four healers stood outside the room where he had been placed, deep in discussion, argument, about how to proceed. One said "This seems un-natural. Our magic should be able to heal him, or at least wake him up."

((No, this is a plot point that Mordus and Chadden worked out, and I'm not gonna intervene in their plot since it's something they really wanted to do. So I'm stuck sitting here watching and waiting. <_< ))
