"Then bring him to a less... obvious location." ----- Brae did follow Arhaina. Mordain did not stop them. He let them leave. When they were gone, he turned to Jaunne. "You know that the war is coming to Asulien, commander? Are your warriors ready?" he asked. |

"They are beginning to move to the walls. Some are currently stationed in the city as guards, as well as in the sanctuary," Jaunne said. "I could send more of them to the walls and towers, though this would reduce interior security of course. It could be worth moving abandoning the ground level of the sanctuary, seeing as though the gates have already been breached, but I planned to have archers and ballistae positioned in the upper reaches to shoot down enemy fliers." "Where do you want him?" |

Mordain shot a glance around the inn. "Perhaps we could take this talk to a more beneficial location? A map of the city would make it easier to plan our defences. Shaellana has already seen to beginning construction of additional defences beyond the city walls, but we do need to plan the interior defence." ----- "That decision would appear to be your's to make. Take him somewhere that will allow me to take him without your power being put in danger." |

((I think that should be "yours" there, for future reference
))"The east spire overlooks the whole city and already contains everything we need. I would suggest you gather the other military leaders as well, and if you have gotten aid from allies then have them send a representative." Kalon grinned at this. "I will have him shipped to the White Realm then... so long as you give me information which is worth the trade." Elandir woke with a feeling of terrible weakness. He relaxed when he heard the voices downstairs. If Mordain was here, all must be well. |

Mordain nodded. He moved outside and turned to his Seekers. "Gather the military leaders that came with us in the column. Tell them to head for the east spire." The Seekers bowed, wordlessly moving away to carry out their orders. Mordain turned back to Jaunne. "Shall we?" ----- The presence of the voice intensified around Kalon. "Lathaon Thaendil is in a state of limbo, held in the Plane of Death. Therefore, he himself cannot be harmed by any means you posses. But, another method of striking at him has presented itself; his soul, which hangs in the balance of life and death, is tied to his beloved. If you kill Arhaina, his bride, then he too will perish." The voice paused. "And she is coming here to stop you. Now, little dark elf, you will deliver Wyrillyn Thaendil to me, agreed?" The shadows around the elves drew together and the entire chamber darkened to the point of complete darkness. A shade rose out of the darkness, illuminated by an eerie glow of ancient power. It extended its hand towards Kalon, waiting for him to shake it. "We have a deal?" |

"Show me!" Kalon said suddenly. "I need to know that this is true." A couple of the guards noticed the shadows in one of the chambers and rushed in, but they could see nothing in the darkness. "Right," he said, leaving the inn with Mordain. His men dispersed, now knowing the situation. He spoke quietly now, as they moved towards the sanctuary. "There is another thing. What happened to Haidas?" |

The shade through its arms into the air. Power surged in the shadows, forming into a rippling image. It should Arhaina, as well as her companions, moving through Asulien. The shade allowed the image to linger for a moment before dispelling it. "Take my hand, Kalon. Seal this bargain." Once more, the shade held forth its hand. ----- A Seeker approached Shaellana and bowed. "High Seeker; Lord Mordain has summoned all military leaders to the east spire. He asks that you make your way there at once." Shaellana only nodded before walking away, heading for the spire. ----- "Lord Haidas arrived with us, along with the Undead Hunters, at a time of battle. He fell to the minions of the Dark Lord in that battle. I do not know if he still lives." said Mordain as they walked towards the spire. |

"That does not come as a surprise, regrettable as it is," Jaunne said grimly. "If he does live, the enemy will no doubt make him suffer for it... It is probably best that you do not spread that news further, however. The Order is not yet disheartened and should remain that way for the battle." Kalon took it. The two guards were silently killed by his men, not given the chance to call out. |

Most of the mage lords turned up for the meeting at the eastern spire. Those were Andros Kalmann, Amalrith, Solo Fryysen, Vedgar and Mistrandar Alicant. Boralays and Tidurion had not shown up, the messengers sent out by Mordain unable to find Boralays at least. |

Tidurion was walking through the areas occupied by the refugees when the messenger arrived. One of Mordain's Seekers, the man gave Tidurion the message but Tidurion replied "Inform those others at the meeting that I cannot attend, as I am busy with an important and personal task." The Seeker nodded and left without saying a word. Tidurion continued his search. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Bayel entered the east spire for the meeting. He walked over and stood beside the other Army officers present. |

As Kalon took the hand of the shade, foul lightning surged around their grip. "Then the deal has been made." With that said, the darkness vanished, taking the shade and the voice with it. ----- "I had not planned on allowing it to become common knowledge." The two men moved into the spire, finding many of the leaders present. Mordain turned to Jaunne, allowing him to start the meeting. This was his city now, afterall. |

Temple servant Kremlin, who had served in the Sanctuary in Asulien for fourty years, patrolled deep beneath the upper levels of the Sanctuary. It was a dark, but still majestic place where few journey. Some referred to this particular part as the Forum Divinus, the meeting place of the gods. There was no wonder about this name considering the many different altars dedicated to different gods here. Kremlin lifted his torch as he looked upon the altars. He was not frightened. He had given his life to this place and so he knew he had earned the respect of the gods for this. Still he was filled with awe. The place was ancient, older than the giant cathedral-like building up on the ground. There was even some altars dedicated to forgotten gods. Kremlin did not knew all they were, and the people of Weissland knew even less. Which was for the better since not all of the gods represented with an altar were among the loved ones in Weissland. Far from it. He stopped in his path as he thought he heard the sound. "Que shu?" he called out in the temple language of Asulien, but no one answered. Kremlin frowned, he never imagined things like this. Suddenly the whole room trembled and shook. It lasted ony two seconds, but Kremlin did not think it was an earthquake. "Ques shu?" he called out again, aloud through the halls. "Eatheman que sha." He turned around sharply as he heard another sound behind him. The sound of heavy breathing. It was close to one of the altars of one of the forgotten gods. Slowly, as he made the hand movements of respect and dignity, he moved closer to investigate. Behind him he could heard the calls of the other temple servants who came to investigat what has caused the slight tremble. Kremlin called for them to come closer as he spotted something in the darkness He lifted his torch as he saw a man lying in front of the altar. The man was naked but bathed in sweat. There was not a single hair on his body, and his eyes were closed and he was breathing heavily. "Rapen an meditorth," he turned and cried to the other temple servants, calling for medics and the Sancuary Master. Then he turned back to the naked, strange man as he wondered what sign from the gods this was. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the shadow of a large warehouse where they had been eating some meat and bread that Justin had brought with him Cloudwulfe suddenly rose from the ground, dust falling from his cloak. "Ariakas is here now," he said. "Ariakas is here in Asulien. And we must get to him quickly before any of our enemies does. Everything depends on this now." Ranorist, Justin or Bana had never heard Cloudwulfe speak so firmly, but still they rose around him. Ranorist nodded to the others and turned to Cloudwulfe. "Tell us where he is," he said. |

James sat on a set of stairs in front of some large building in Asulien, staring out into the city, his right arm holding Rebecca close to his side. She had refused to leave the city, even when the other civilians had been evacuated. While it did put her in danger, James knew that if this was to be the end, at least they would face it together. A Seeker approached James and said, "Milord, Lord Mordain has requested that all the head officers meet him in the eastern spire immediately." James nodded. "I'll be there." He looked down at Rebecca and realized that she was sleeping quietly against his chest. He began to rub her arm slowly, and her eyes fluttered open. "I need to go." "Is Drathmor here?" asked Rebecca quietly. James shook his head. "No, but the generals have to plan for the defense of the city." "You should go," said Rebecca, pulling herself up and stretching. James also stood up, kissed her, and said, "I'll be back soon," before turning and following the Seeker to the east spire. |

Nathaniel had seen Shaellana walking away after a Seeker had spoken to her, but for what purpose he could only guess. The defence of the city was the most likely reason, planning such things were taken quite seriously, especially by the military. Shortly after several Seekers entered the wagon and began to untie him from the beam and bench. Once this was done, they led him inside to a cell. He was ushered into the cell and the door slammed shut behind him and heavy bolts and locks were put in place. The magic draining shackles were still on his wrists and ankles but beyond this he was free to move in the small cell. He took calm steps over to a bench worn smooth by age and bolted firmly to the stone floor. The tall black-clad mage sat down and looked around the dark cell, the only light entering from a small view-slot in the door. He moved his hands up and flipped the hood of his robe up over his head. Slowly he closed his green eyes, and slowed his breathing. Now all he had to do was wait, wait for the trial which would soon begin. Nathaniel knew that Mordain would preside over the trial as the highest ranking mage, but such trials often had several individuals sitting in judgement, from different backgrounds, not just mages. In Asulien that meant the ranking member of the Order of the Light would be involved. Nathaniel Drakkon did not know who that person was though. Presumably Lord Aldron as commander of the army would also be present. The others, Nathaniel could only guess. He turned such thoughts aside, focussing on maintaining his willpower. |

It was quiet down there, so Medran heard the call. He entered the room with two healers with him and spotted Kremlin illuminating a dead man who lay on one of the altars. Or perhaps he was alive; it was difficult to tell from the doorway. ---- Jaunne did not say anything further before he and Mordain, after climbing the staircase up to the top of the spire, entered the room of the meeting. It seemed there were already several mage lords and military leaders there. There was also a more scruffy looking figure, a half-elf mercenary by the looks of it, who had turned up. In the middle of the room was a large, round table with a detailed map of the city laid out on it, and there was another map rolled up by it. There were small counters spread out on the map as well, showing the locations of the Order soldiers as they were the last time Jaunne had come here. Each appeared to represent a number of them. Around the table were seats which the meeting's participants had taken, curved around in a semicircle to face the window. ---- Arhaina, Khanden and Brae met up with a group of guards as well as the men Mordain had promised. She led them down towards the lowest chambers, where the most heavily protected artefacts lay. Those chambers, deep underground, were surrounded by a labyrinth of tunnels and beyond that a layer of hard rock which even the greatest dwarven miners would have difficulty breaking through. The tunnels were lit up by torches and well-patrolled by men of the Order. |

Kremlin stepped in fright away from the altar. He had never experience something like this, never even heard of it. What sign could it be? He turned to see Medran come towards him with two fellow members of the Order. "Master," Kremlin said with a voice that was more unsteady then it had been in forty years. "I don't know... the temple shook and then he just lay here." |

"Then until he wakes we can only clothe him," Medran said. One of the other with him took the hint, leaving the room to get some. "Perhaps then we might learn why the gods have sent him here, if that is how he came to rest on the altar." |
