Moarbrek's ghostly eyes surveyed the wall. He saw Weisslanders falling before the armies of the Dark Lord, and he saw defenders at the gates standing deffiantly before the tides of darkness. Sword in hand, he dropped from the wall and advanced towards the Az'Gor. One noticed his approach, but only in time to be cut down. More turned towards the Lich Lord, but backed away in terror. "You miserable wretches have defied the will of the Master! It was His will that gave you the strength you now have, and you would dare to use it against him?" Moarbrek lifted his sword, pointing the tip of the blade towards them. "My sword will be your judgement." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

As James was running down the steps, he saw the undead soldiers pouring through the gates and running into the Az'Gor. Although the half-trolls were fighting well, there was an ocean of undead coming against them. "Rally behind the Az'Gor!" shouted James, pointing with his sword for his men to form behind their allies. The men rushed down the steps and began forming up into a solid block, their shields and spears ready. |

With the gates open, Urden'Hel and his fel knights charged through. They colided with the front of the Az'Gor formation. Fel knights fell, but the Az'Gor could not match Urden. "Back, you filth!" roared the Disciple. He swept his sword through the air, casting a wabe of fire into the half-breeds. ----- Moarbrek batted the mortals aside as if they were nothing. He saw Weisslanders join the ranks of the half-breeds, and for a time thought nothing of it. But then, he saw him; James Castoden. His eyes gleamed in the shadows cast by the dark clouds above. He advanced towards James, using his sword and his free hand to cast aside any in his way. When he was close, he slammed his fist into the ground. A wave of magic erupted from him and threw back all near him, leaving a clear path to James. Moarbrek pointed the tip of his sword at him. "Death beckons you, boy!" |

As the Az'Gor had their ranks decimated by blasts of fire and the charge of the Fell Knights, James raised his sword in the air and shouted, "For Weissland!" before turning, gripping his sword in two hands, and charging forward, yelling. He ran faster than his men, and as they engaged the Fell Knights and other undead, James kept running, straight for a large liche in all black with burning green eyes, yelling at the top of his lungs. |

A side-step, skilful parry and magical blast sent James to the ground. Moarbrek drew the tip of his blade across the earth. "One thousand years I have walked this world, and you think that your meager skills can stand against mine?" |

James came up swinging, twisting his body and bringing his sword around into the liche's. He brought it around and went on the attack once again, sending a series of thrusts and slashes at his opponent. |

Moarbrek took purposeful steps backwards, parrying James' attacks as he went. This one is skilled, he thought. But, it mattered not. Plenty fool-hardy 'heroes' had fallen to the Lich Lord over the years. This upstart Castoden would be no different. Moarbrek surged forward and entered a deadlock with James, their blades pushing against one another. James was weaker than Moarbrek, but the Lich Lord knew he had to keep the holy blade away from him. It was the bane of undeath. "Do you know how your ancestor, Mhairi, begged for her life when it came to the end? I plunged my sword through her heart and avenged the destruction of my Master. But her cause was lost. She didn't care about this land. She was no saint, despite what your lore keepers may tell you. She cared only for vengance, a vengance she never saw fulfilled." Moarbrek pushed the boy's blade back. "Amazing, isn't it? Your kind make heroes of monsters." |

"She will see her vengeance," replied James, twisting his sword free and cutting down and away from himself, slashing into the liche's leg and leaping out of the way of a counter-strike. |

Moarbrek smiled sickly; the blade had failed to pierce his armour. "You'll have to do better, boy." snarled the Lich Lord as he advanced towards James. Then, however, he was struck by a great blast of chaotic energy. ----- Mordain maintained the stream of chaotic power, pushing Moarbrek further and further back. He landed between the foul general and James. As Moarbrek was rising, Mordain looked back at James. "Get away from him, James. It's too risky!" |

Mordain thought for a moment, then nodded. Moarbrek rose, cackling. "This is what Weissland will send to defeat me? A boy, and a half-breed?" A ball of chaotic magic built in Mordain's palm. "You will pay, monster. For all that you have done to this land, and for all that you did to Shaellana!" He threw the magic forward. Moarbrek rushed and dispelled it with a strike of his sword, which he infused with magic moments before impact. He smashed into Mordain and cast him back, before turning to clash blades with James. |

The two blades met with intensity, causing James to take a step back and almost buckle under the pressure. However, he spun out of the sword lock and slashed again, a strike which Moarbrek parried. |

Mordain was fast on his feet. He soared forward, mere feet from the ground and blasted Moarbrek again. He summoned his sword, spun and met blades with the Lich Lord. Moarbrek forced Mordain's blade back in time to block another attack from James. Moarbrek's skills with a blade were clearly as good as he had heard. |

While the three combatants traded blows, the veteran Weisslanders fully entered the fray. Their discipline was good, keeping together and helping each other, forming together in a tight unit and throwing back the undead forces time and time again. Yet soon they could no longer afford to stay tight, and vicious man-on-man fighting ensued, with the formation breaking due to the massive number of undead, and still the three fought their own battle, seemingly on a completely different plane. |

Moarbrek slammed his fist into the ground, unleashing another eruption of magic that cast his opponents back. "You mortals will always be pathetic and weak! Death is inevitable, the victory of the Master is inevitable!" roared the Lich Lord as he spun, bringing his blade to clash with James's as the man stood up. "Why do you stall the inevitable?" |

Moarbrek snarled with disgust and looked over at Mordain. "Did you teach him that heroic nonesense?" Mordain rose to his feet. "Oh no, he picked it up all by himself." Then, Mordain threw himself at Moarbrek. He grabbed the Lich Lord's hands and held them high. Moarbrek bore down upon the Mage of Shadows. "Is this all the strength you have? No wonder you were unable to save your cousin!" Slowly, Mordain's eyes lifted to meet Moarbrek's. The Lich Lord saw Mordain's demonic eyes glare with greater power, and it wiped the smirk from his face. Magic erupted from Mordain, blasting Moarbrek back. Mordain flew forward, lifted the Lich Lord and cast him through the wall of a nearby barracks. Then, he landed and sent a ball of magic into the building. The barracks erupted, parts of it being compeltely blown away and the rest igniting into violent flames. Mordain stood back beside James, waiting. |

"I wouldn't count on it." replied Mordain cautiously. He began to walk forward, very slowly, with his sword held low in a defensive position. He got closer and closer to the rubble... Suddenly, there was an eruption of power from within. A wooden beam flew through the air, striking Mordain and throwing him to the ground. Moarbrek rose from the ashes and advanced quickly on James. As James raised his sword to defend, Moarbrek struck him with a backhand to cast him to the ground. "Mordain can wait. You will die now, boy!" |

James's sword was knocked from his hands, skittering across the rocks and rubble and coming to rest well out of reach. James began to back away from Moarbrek on his hands, struggling to get up, but he was finding it difficult to breathe. As Moarbrek advanced on him, James did not see how he was going to escape, when suddenly there was a warcry from behind the liche and James saw Darnil thrust his sword with all his might into Moarbrek's back. |
