Nathaniel Drakkon

Upon hearing of the enemies' approach, Nathaniel Drakkon went to the walls. He found a spot on the wall a short distance to the right of the gates. Looking out he could see the undead on the horizon. Standing on the battlements, leaning against the crenalations the black-clad mage watched and waited. He had seen more than one enemy army marching towards him from the vantage point of solid walls, but nothing on this scale. Still Nathaniel was not concerned. Let them come, he would meet them on the forsaken path. Live or die, he would take a lot of them with him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The remainder of General Bayel's force was stationed on the wall on a section far to the left of the gates. They numbered only a few thousand, casualties had been heavy during the course of the war. Only some of them were on duty at the moment, and the rest waited in the barracks a short distance behind the wall. Once the enemy drew closer they would all be called to the wall, but for now they were on rotating watches. Currently General Bayel stood on the wall himself, keeping an eye on things.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tidurion had spent a lot of time creating as many traps and runes as he could in the city. After a few hours sleep at his home, with his family, in the inner part of the city, the mage lord had made his way towards the walls. There he hoped to find the other mage lords and find out what had happened at the eastern spire meeting, and hear their thoughts on the coming battle.

Ranorist Chrasto had been charged with watching over Cloudwulf in a location in the inner city.

Meanwhile Ariakas was heading towards the walls, flanked by Bana and Justin. Ariakas feared that it would not be long until his enemies began to hunt him down. He did not think Medran or Solo Fryysen was corrupt, but the other mage lord named Vedgar he was uncertain about. And they could have told others by now.

He was also not sure on what his next step would be. He knew he had a purpose at least, but how was he going to deal with it. His mother had carried to the world another child before her death. He had only one link as to who this man could be. Mordain Thaendil and his servants, Brae and Marr.

Mistrandar Alicant nodded to Morbius Stemper as the man walked up the stairs to the wall. The Realmer had assisted in preparing traps and additional equipment for the coming battle. But there had been too little time. If it had been a week, Morbius could have led construction-work on one of his many siege machines, but there was no time.

"I'm sorry I did not give the aid you probably expected," Morbius said as he walked up beside Mistrandar.

The young mage lord shrugged and looked down at the sword at the Realmer's side. "Another pair of arms to help push the hordes down from these walls, that is the aid we now expect from you Realmer."

---------------------------------------------------

Mage lord Andros stood on the far left of the walls, close to the banner of General Bayel. A few feet to the right stood Loter Arthious. The man born in the White Realm had his eyes fixed upon the enemy ranks. He had good eyes and could pick out each different walking corpse at a far distance.

Mordus could feel the growing tension within the stone structures of the city with each passing hour, his adopted ethereal form connecting to the base emotions of every creature within the bound of the stone of Asulien. There was a perceivable wall of anxiety emmanating from every pore of the city. Drenching the streets in uncertainty and fear. A stench that ran rank thoughout the most humble quarters and hovel.

A foul wind gathered upon the horizon and the stationed guards soon found themselfs enveloped by a puturous miasma. Rank with the stench of decay and death.

How many would sucombe to the dread harbingers of Drathmore even before the battle had begun?

Mordus shivered incorporealy in disgust and spiritual loathing as he made true his physical form, appearing beside Ariakas upon the battlements.
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts for eternity.

Mordain stared at the endless masses of Drathmor's horde. He had sent Seekers to prepare the healing tents, notify all the commanders, and pretty much organise everything. He had to know everything was ready. He had to doublecheck.

-----

The army of the Dark Lord began establishing tents and such, forming a massive camp from where to base their seige. The dead, of course, were tireless. But the living that served the Dark Lord were not. Aside from that, the camp would be a good place to command from.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

General Bayel had called up all of his troops to the wall. They numbered no more than two thousand, only a small portion of the Weissland army. With his officers getting the troops prepared, the old general moved along the wall to stand beside Lord Arthious. He asked "What can you see out there? It just looks like a seething mass to my eyes."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tidurion found a place on the walls. He looked out at the vast enemy army, with a look of concern on his face. He lent his staff gently against the battlement and rubbed his hands on his robes, trying to get the sweat off his palms. It was not long before he looked around the section of wall and found himself standing not far to the right of another mage. He had to look again, such was his surprise, that the mage was Nathaniel Drakkon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drakkon had seen the elven mage lord arrive at the walls already, and so made no eye-contact with him. The human mage was intent on waiting for the battle to begin.

Ariakas looked down the row of people, looking for Mordain when he suddenly jumped back by the sight of Mordus materializing beside him. He had not seen the man since they had departed from Ataya together to head for Kuren. It seemed months ago, but were only around two weeks.

"You're still alive I see," he said to Mordus, though he once more scouted for Mordain.

----------------------------------------

Loter Arthious shrugged. "It makes little difference if you can see each indivudal. They are still just a mass. An endless mass."

He pointed with his fingers and changed his depressive attitude. "That however, looks like something they are constructing. Maybe some monuments to help with their rituals, or maybe just housing for the mortal followers of Drathmor."

The camp was well underway.

Drathmor summoned one of the necromancer lords to him. "See to it that a ritual circle is prepared. I plan to show these mortals the power of our art."

"As you command, Master."

Through the army of Drathmor a tall figure walked. Necromantic energy surrounded him and flowed from him in great waves. Where he turned his gaze even the undead figures shivered.

The liche lord Notrarat stopped in front of a necromancer not far from the where the ritual circle was being prepared.

"I seek a creature known as Moarbrek," he spoke, with ancient voice.

The necromancer turned from his crouched position, where he had been preparing the circle, and pointed. "You may find the Lich Lord over there, at the command tent."

The Defiled Kingdom's command tent was tall, its frame adorned with skulls and diabolical trinkets. Moarbrek stood outside it, overseeing his Master's army. Drathmor himself was on the other side of the camp, preparing something of his own.

The liche lord Notrarat moved with grace towards Moarbrek and bowed before him.

"Lord Moarbrek," he spoke with a voice that was but a foul whisper but still made the air shiver with energy.

Moarbrek turned, and upon seeing who it was before him, the Lich Lord drew his weapon and struck the creature violently with the back of his hand. Notrarat was thrown back onto the ground. Moarbrek lowered the tip of his sword to the lich's neck.

"Traitor."

Luke Bayel nodded as he followed the pointing finger of Lord Arthious. He said, almost to himself "Always the worst part of a siege, waiting for the enemy to make their first move. Not that it gets much better from then on."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nathaniel Drakkon stood quietly on the wall, simply waiting for what was to come. With his hood up concealing his face he looked much like any other mage. Yet Drakkon knew that there was one amongst the army beyond the walls which would seek him out. That confrontation would be an interesting one. Nathaniel thought, this is going to be an interesting day.

"I am no traitor to your cause Moarbrek," Notrarat spoke as he stood up, as he summoned a powerful immaterial shield that pushed the sword away.

"Oh? Then perhaps you'd care to explain why it was reported to me that you had betrayed the Master." replied Moarbrek, keeping his sword held forth.

"I have not betrayed him," Notrarat said with a proud voice. "Why should I do such thing? It's the undead lords of Shiverland under the leadership of Lord Morodith that have gone against our lord. They betrayed me, and have tricked you."
