"Were you given any clues to the cause of the block in the first place?"
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

"Only that, as I have said before, it was someone close to us based on the way it was blocking our spell spheres."

Mordain sighed. "So there is no evidence to clear Drakkon?"

Amalrith shrugged, "Do we need evidence for that? There's no reason why Drakkon should be considered guilty in the first place. Except for mage lord's Tidurions accusations."

"Yes, we need evidence. Guilty until proven innocent is, regretably, the policy I have had to adopt for him."

"I am sorry Lord Thaendil for speaking so directly," Amalrith said. "But that is crazy. You can't sit and wait for evidence to prove he is not guilty when there's no evidence sayig he is guilty in the first place, all the while letting Nathaniel Drakkon suffer at the hands of Mordus or Shaellana. Unless there is some other reason you're doing this, something else you suspects Nathaniel off."

As Amalrith spoke, mage lords Andros and Vedgar also came to the location. Vedgar sat stiffly in the saddle. His face was pale now and he barely held on after receiving wounds from three different Dark Disciples in the last weeks.

Mordain sighed. "Drakkon holds a secret deep within his heart, one that he will not share with me. He has already explained that it has something to do with Weissland, but will not reveal it. That is why I cannot release him. Not until he has revealed this secret." Then, Mordain's head turned slowly towards Andros. "Do not think me a fool, Andros. I would not hold a man such as Drakkon without good reason."

Amalrith turned his head surprised towards Andros. Andros had not spoken against Mordain's arresting of Nathaniel and in the debate between the mage lords earlier Andros had clearly stated he had little trouble with how Mordain handled the situation.

Andros shrugged, "I support your actions Mordain and trusts you in these matters. Do no worry about that."

Vedgar sat unmoving in his horse, silent. Sweat tickled from his face, despite the cold weather.

"Good, because we do not need further division amongst the heirarchy." He turned to a Seeker. "Now, see to it that word is sent throughout Fargon. The people must evacuate and travel north with the rest of this army."

The Seeker bowed and left.

Again, Mordain sighed and turned back to the mage lords. "Perhaps some of you can offer a solution to something that has been on my thoughts for some time now. We move for Asulien, to seek safety there, but with all the refugees we have picked-up, there is simply not enough space within the walls of Asulien to accomodate us all. Your thoughts, mage lords?"

((I was certain there had always been enough space))

Amalrith shook his head. "I am sorry my lord. I am blank on the matter.

"We could open the Ancient Chambers," Andros said. Both Amalrith and Vedgar turned towards the elder mage lord with surprise. How could the man propose that, and to Lord Mordain? The Ancient Chambers of Asulien was one of the most well-guarded and secret-kept areas in the whole of Weissland. It was a massive dungeon system deep beneath Asulien. In it were many powerful artifacts, both evil and good and some neither. Among these was the Casket of Wrath.

((I just have a memory of a conversation some time ago that there would not be enough space, and I can't recall a solution.))

"That is out of the question!" snapped Mordain. "The Chambers must be left sealed. If we are lucky, then the artefacts from Ataya will already be locked away in there with the rest. What is held in there can never be allowed to fall into the hands of the Dark Lord."

"Even at the cost of Weissland's survival?" Andros said. "Lord Thaendil, if we can't allow Drathmor access to the artefacts we should rather destroy them, instead of giving him all eternity to figure out a way to gain access to them."

"There are some artefacts we will not destroy; there are others we cannot destroy. And, of course, there are some that we should destroy. But that makes little difference; the decision to destroy the artefacts is not mine to make." Mordain paused, thinking over what had been said. "Keeping the artefacts locked away beneath Asulien is the best way to prevent the Dark Lord from claiming them. If we open the Chambers, we risk the theft of the artefacts, and then nothing will matter. All our efforts will be for nothing."

"Then the alternative is a grim one," Andros said. "We will have to send the refugees onwards north, west or east or we will just have to pack them together."

Mordain nodded. "It remains a preferable option to risking the artefacts."

"Which of them?" Andros asked. "Sending them away will allow Drathmor to pick on them without us defending them and the second is grim at the moment."

"Sending them north, past the city, would seem to be the best choice. If the armies of Drathmor have Asulien between them and our refugees, then we can protect them."

((Is not Asulien surrounded by mountains to the north? So if we wanted to send them north they would have to go first either east or west, then north. That way Asulien can't block the route.))

((From looking at the map, I always assumed there was some form of valley behind Asulien?))

((Asulien is almost surrounded by mountains... South is the only way to not send them into the mountains, but that isn't exactly going to work is it?))

((EDIT: I wouldn't call it a valley as it's still uphill from Asulien I think, but I see what you mean.))
