Mordain tore his hand through the air, dispelling another Nathremal with his destructive, demonic magic. The creature destroyed, Mordain decended to the ground beside Mordus.

"Yes, Mordus; but there will be far more before the end." he replied.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Mordus hurled yet another shard at a Nathremal with added vehemance before turning back to Mordain with furrowed brow; "And what is this I hear of Drakkon? Why has he been arrested?"

General Bayel rode up the column, two soldiers riding after him. When he found who he was looking for, he dismissed his men back to their normal positions, assuring them he would be fine. He fell into step beside the mage Jessa Aeris and said "Jessa, I have a mission for you."

Jessa looked at the general and replied "Of course, what do you want me to do?"

General Bayel said quietly "When the column reaches the split in the road at Fargon, I want you to ride off to Iludon. There is someone there I want you to contact before you ride on to Asulien across country."

Jessa looked around to make sure nobody was listening before saying "Who do you want me to contact?"

Bayel said "That's not important right now, I just want to know if you will do this?"

The redheaded mage smiled and said "Why wouldn't I?"

Bayel answered "This will put you at risk Jessa, you'll be alone and a fair distance away from Asulien. Depending on how quickly the Defiled Kingdom's forces are moving you could be cut off from Asulien before you reach the city."

Jessa asked "Is it for the good of Weissland?"

Bayel nodded "Yes, it could be a vital piece in the bigger picture."

"Then I'll go." The mage responded.

Bayal sighed and said "Good, good. We'll go over the specifics later. I've got to get back to my men." With that he turned and headed back to the section of the column where his men were marching.

Shaellana walked the column, deep in thought. Drakkon was up to something... there was great mystery surrounding him, blanketing a secret beneath its shroud. She could not say what he was up to, only that he was up to something. Her duties meant she had to inform Lord Mordain of this; she only hoped that this secret was not of darker origins.

-----

Mordain turned to Mordus. "What? I have not been told about any of this."

((Actually you did. You had a Seeker come and tell you that Shaellana was arresting me and why. It's near the top of the last page.))

The battle had been short, Justin was returning to the column. He had lost track of Mordain in the battle, the elven mage suddenly disappearing.

As he rode back he spotted a man running towards him. He saw that this man was no Weisslander. He was pale in his face, and had a elegant goat bear and smooth moustache. His hair was long and black. Morbius, he thought, the assistant of Hound. What was he doing here?

"Greetings, son of Mjolnir," Morbius he said.

"Justin," Justin informed him. Morbius nodded, took his hand. "It's good too see a fellow Realmer now," Justin said. "What are you doing here? Has the army of Hound arrived?"

"No, not yet. But it sure will before too long," Morbius said, smiling. "I rode with the army of Narandar to bring a letter from the Lord of the White Realm to Ariakas. It is of great importance."

"Really?" Justin said, "I am sorry to inform you that my Commander is not with the army. He departed from it before I joined."

"Why? Morbius asked. "Where is he then?"

"Apperently he was to return to the White Realm," Justin said. "But I can take the letter, as a Mjolnir Warrior it's more likely that I will meet him in these troubled times."

Morbius hesitated, but after a while shrugged. It was better that Justin carried it. He reached within his vest, pulled forth the letter and gave it to Justin.

"He has been placed under arrest following accusations of treason. Normaly I would trust the higher rulings of council members, namely the Mage Lords, yet this time I find their judgement lacking. They say he has been magicaly preventing communications. What strange rationale they have I do not know for the veil of shadow cast by Drathmor has been doing the same for far longer."

((My bad. I'll just roll with it.))

Mordain thought for a moment. "Actually, I was told of this. Darkkon I see as no threat, but I do not doubt Shaellana's judgement. I will have to wait until I speak with her to form my opinion."

United with the army, Amakiir, Vrack and Ulrin searched out Mordain Thaendil.

((Will be away for some of this weekend, don't know whether I'll be back either late tomorrow, or some time the day after. Not too long :) ))

The battle was over, and so Mordain returned to the column. The Legion moved and encircled the mercenaries, as did a number of other soldiers once they had been instructed to.

With six Seekers, and two Legion warriors, Mordain approached the leaders of the mercenaries.

Mordain kept his sword in his right hand, his staff in his left, and allowed his armour to shift back to robes. "You do not wear any colours. Where do your loyalties lie?"

((He's talking to Ulrin & co.))

Mordain cast away his sword and rested both hands on his staff. "Friends of Elandir are friends of Weissland. You will be welcome additions to this army. But, tell me your names."

Prison, most likely execution. As far as Nathaniel could see that was all that awaited him. Escaping was no use, he was innocent of whatever he was being accused of. He could do nothing here, but things would be worse if he tried to escape. The one thing he was dreading was an interrogation. Not the fear of pain, he had been through enough pain in his life to know that was of limited use. But there were things he could not reveal, even if it would prove his innocence or help set him free. That was the oath he had given, he would keep to it. Somethings could not be said, even if they needed to be. He was only concerned with how this would reflect on those around him, the people at his estate, his businesses, other mages who had worked closely with him.

A trial was fine, he could withstand a trial. It was not difficult to simply keep your mouth shut. But an interrogation was different, he wondered if he could avoid letting anything go. Everyone breaks, eventually. It does not end until you break. But Nathaniel Drakkon could not afford to break, ever.

--Enters from Ledek's Span--

Still, the Weissland column was far ahead. A good day or two at least, but the bridge was in sight.

Urden remained at the head of the army, leading the undead forward atop his fiery steed. This chase had gone on long enough; when he caught up to the column again, he would end them.

Just then, roars filled the skies. The vile commanders turned their attention upwards and watched as the Dragon Lords descended. The three Lords invoked their magic to allow their monstrous dragons to unleash mighty jets of fire onto the bridge. It began to burn and crumble, but the Dragon Lords weren't finished yet. They flew lower and lower, allowing their dragons to tear the bridge apart.

Then they returned to the skies and were gone.

-----

Shaellana walked to stand within the ring of Legion soldiers surrounding the mercenaries. She had to talk to Mordain about Drakkon, but she knew to wait until he was done speaking with the mercs.

"I am Zach Amakiir, Elandir's second-in-command and an old friend. I was with him when we searched out the materials for the staff, Naxtiaa," he said. Looking to his left, he said, "this is captain Vrack," and then to his right, "and Lord Ulrin."

Ulrin let the shaft of his battleaxe slip to the ground. It was a friendly gesture and one of respect, among his people.

Mordain waved his hand and the surrounding soldiers lowered their weapons and returned to the column. Mordain leaned forward.

"A word of caution; I have little trust for mercenaries. Prove my mistrust ungrounded."

With that, he walked away. Shaellana approached him.

"My Lord, I have arrested Nathaniel Drakkon. I think you should see him."

"What were the reasons for his arrest?" asked Mordain.

"He is believed to be responsible for preventing us from communicating with mages beyond this army."

Mordain stopped and turned to Shaellana. "And is he?"

Shaellana shook her head. "I don't know. He is guilty of something, a secret he keeps so deep within himself that I cannot identify its nature. I simply know it is there."

Mordain kept walking and entered the wagon where Nathaniel was restrained. Shaellana closed the door and waited outside, and Mordain dismissed the Seeker within the room, leaving him alone with Drakkon. After a good few moments of watching the man, he walked over and removed the gag from his mouth.

"Nathaniel Drakkon; do you know why you have been arrested?"
