Boralays shook his head, "It could practically be anyone. He could masquerade as someone who would not be suspected to be a magic user, but then I believe some of us would sense it when we were close to the individual." "We should tell Mordain and the army leaders now Boralays," Amalrith insisted. Borlays did not nod, only bit his lip, deep in thought. He threw a sceptical look at Tidurion. "I don't think, and absolutly not hope, that whoever it is, it is not one of the mage lords." |

Tidurion seemed oblivious to the look and said "If he was concealing his identity as someone who is not a magic-user, and could be anyone as you say, well that presents problems. Despite our losses, the column is still big, we might never be near to this person." He pushed several strands of hair out of his face, past his elven ear and spoke again "We should tell Mordain, and the military leaders as well. Keeping it from them could seem suspicious. But I think that whoever is doing this is one of the magic-users, after all, who is going to find a mage using magic out of the ordinary, but someone looking like a soldier or refugee... stands out too much. Think about who it could be. Someone whose loyalties are not clear. Someone who does not stay too close to the mages. Someone who is unreceptive to answering questions. Someone who has had a brush with our enemies. Someone who has been away for quite some time with little explaination for that departure. Someone who is shrouded in mystery and rumour." |

Boralays blinked, he was surprised by Tidurion's words. Surprise by the simple wisdom in them. The absent mind of the elven mage lord still irritated him however. "These are important questions and possible clues," he said to Tidurion. "But they are also dangerous. We should be careful not to become suspicious to the wrong people, there are numerous individuals who fits in those categories." |

"Endral is lost, Captain. The undead pursue us; we have not got enough time to rescue Endral. It must be left. The Dark Lord's army will crush the city, and rid us of the Shattered Sword by doing so." Shaellana began looking around, as if she were looking at nothing at all. But then she stopped and focussed on an area, back in the column. She leaned over and whispered into Mordain's ear. The Mage of Shadows nodded but said nothing. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Boralaus lifted an eyebrow. "I do not understand who you are referring to." Amalrith bent forward slightly however, and whispered "Are you referring to Drakkon?" Boralays cut him off quickly, "These are dangerous and treacherous words!" ---------------------------------------------------- Captain Karte nodded, "Is either Amakiir or Daenthai with the army?" he asked. |

"Returning to your homeland would be risky. The undead approach. Try to retreat back to Daulinen, and they will likely catch you in the open. Continue north to Asulien with us; our forces could use reinforcements." |

"I understand that, but Lord Halder might need us just as much," Karte responded. "And it's approximately the same distance to Dwarac from here, as too Asulien even though the terrain is more difficult to travel quickly through. And I believe we move quite faster than you." He bowed to Lord Mordain and Lord Aldron. |

Tidurion said "Of course I'm talking about him. He ups and leaves seven years ago to go off wandering gods know where with no reason given. He's spent most of his career as a mage poking his nose into dark corners and who knows what he's found. Then he returns... now, just at the right time to return with the armies from the White Realm. As soon as he reaches the mainland of Weissland, he's carted off by some vampire and taken to the enemy. And he just escaped from them, what is that? The whole thing smacks of deceit. I think they are trying to ingratiate him into the force as some sort of tragic hero so that everyone will trust him, all the while he is their spy and cutting us off from the rest of Weissland." |

Karte stroke his beard, "But they will still go for Asulien? Will they not?" Captain Maugen shrugged, "The dwarfholds of Daulinen will hold for just as long as Asulien" he said proudly. ---------------------------------------- Amalrith shook his head as he looked at Tidurion. "Mordian himself trusts Nathaniel." Boralays was unsure. He thought back, at a time when Nathaniel had left the Mystic Tower of Ataya to snook around in dark secrets. He remember how little he had trusted the younger mage back then. But still he did not want Tidurion, of all people, to give him such ideas. |

Tidurion said "Are you so sure about that Amalrith? And even if Mordain does trust him, that does not mean that trust cannot be misplaced. It seems clear that Mordain has had a great deal weighing on him lately, who knows how clearly he was thinking when he just invited Drakkon back." |

"Make your choice, dwarves. Your number could turn the tide for us when the undead do come to Asulien, but divided we will likely both fall before this evil." As he spoke, he made a number of gestures to Shaellana. The High Seeker nodded and left her lord's company, walking further down the column, heading for a group of mage lords. |

((Would that group be Boralays, Amalrith and Tidurion by any chance?)) Captain Karte continued to stroke his beard. "Do you believe we still have a chance Lord Mordain?" ------------------------------------------------------ Amalrith shook his head, protesting wildly against Tidurion's suggestions. "But when Nathaniel was away, because of the rearguard battle in which Peloron and Borsun fell, the spell blocking was still there." Boralays saw Shaellana coming towards them, and discretly hushed at Amalrith as the High Seeker approached. |

James walked and eventually found Darnil in the column. The Lieutenant nodded to James respectfully but said nothing. James nodded and quietly fell into step, looking straight ahead. Darnil never looked at James, but after several minutes of walking he suddenly ask, "Something bothering you?" James did not reply, causing Darnil to finally look over and say, "Something's bothering you." "Yeah," said James. "What is it?" asked Darnil. "The Castodens were kings," said James. "Aye," said Darnil. "Some of the greatest. Surprised they didn't tell you that when they brought you over." "Not a word," said James. "It would've been nice to know." "Aye, but what reason would they have to tell you?" asked Darnil. "They're making me king at Asulien," said James. Darnil, however, was unfazed and simply nodded. "That's a sound decision." "Sound?" asked James. "I haven't even been in the country a year and they're making me king!" "Stranger things have happened, Milord," said Darnil. "These are dark times. The people need someone like you to lead them." "Someone like me," said James sarcastically. "They need someone who has their best interests at heart, someone who is unafraid to stand up for what he believes in and will always do what is right, someone who has the courage to defend Weissland," said Darnil. "Now I'm sick of your doubting, self-efacing attitude. You will be king, and you'll be damn good at it." James continued walking, but did not reply. |

Shaellana approached the three mage lords. She looked at Tidurion, Boralays and Amalrith seperately before speaking. "Gentlemen. There is something... suspicious surrounding you." She kept staring at them, her eyes seeing so much more than any of the mages could. "Tell me, what might that be?" ----- "Life has not been taken from us yet, Captain. But to survive this we will need the combined strength of all who would aid us. Divided, we will die." replied Mordain. |

"Despite defending different positions we're not necessarly divided," Karte said. "It might be that if Drathmor divides his strength to take on both Daulinen and Asulien at the same time, that might be turned into an advantage for us." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boralays shrugged, "There are something suspicious about all of us Shaellana. Please, tell us, is there something specific you're looking for this time?" His voice was cold. |
