Justin nodded and re-adjusted his sword at his side. "Very well. I'll stay at your side then until you tells me otherwise, news about Ariakas arrives or circumstances wants it otherwise."

Mordain nodded. "Good. Come, we should return to my position at the head of the colum."

Mordain mounted his horse and made his way back to the top of the colum, Justin following beside him.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

James had been in the center of the army, speaking with Aldron, but now he made his way up the column, walking briskly towards Mordain, who was riding on a horse.

"Aracen damn you," called Darnil from the other side of the column, and James turned to see the stocky man heading towards him, a half-angry smile on his face. "I thought I told you to ride the horse?"

"I never did like the whole knight thing," said James with a smirk. "Face it Darnil, we're infantry. We're on the ground."

"I'm infantry, Milord," said Darnil. "You're the Lord Castoden. Whether you like to fight on a horse or not, that's where you are supposed to be."

"Maybe, maybe not," said James. "I like walking with the men anyways."

Darnil shook his head but smiled as he did so, and James knew that secretly Darnil approved of and admired what James was doing. "Very well, Milord."

Nodding to Darnil, James resumed walking quickly to the front of the column, eventually reaching where Mordain was riding on his horse. "Lord Thaendil," said James.

Mordain turned to the Lord Castoden. "Ah, James, you are here. Good. I trust you have come to resume the conversation we were having before Lord Mordus interrupted?"

Nathaniel turned to mage lord Tidurion and said "Have you seen the other mage lords?"

The elf seemed to think for a moment before saying "No, not for a while. Why do you ask?"

Nathaniel said slyly "Well, I'm sure they would want you to check in with them. Keep everyone up to date and so on."

Tidurion seemed to think this was a great idea "Yes, yes of course. After all, there are so few of us mage lords left. We need to plan, and strategise. I'll go and find them. Well done Nathaniel." He rode off at a canter, to find the other mage lords.

Nathaniel sighed in relief and returned to his silence.

Boralays and Amalrith outside of the column, on the grassbanks to the right of the wide road. They needed their privacy.

"Why did you tell me?" Boralays asked suddenly.

"I am not certain to be honest," Amalrith said. "I had to speak to someone about this. It's not that I do not trust many other of the mage lords, it's just that those few I trusted are dead now. Like Lathaon or Borsun. I believe I can trust you. I hope."

"So who are we to tell?"

"I am not certain. I can trust any of the miltiary leaders when it comes to this I believe. Aldron. Castoden. Their loyalty is to Weissland alone."

"Mordain?" Boralays suggested.

Amalrith sighed. "I know, there's no doubt about Mordain's loyalty. He fights and dies for Weissland. I do not however trust my own trust of Mordain."

Boralays nodded, "I understand what you mean. And Mistrandar?"

"Never trusted him," Amalrith shrugged. "We should have learned something when Ithrain turned against us. There are few among us that can be trusted I guess."

Mordain dismounted, handing the reigns of his steed to a Seeker. "Follow the column."

With that said, he led James away from the column, out of the earshot of all others. "What I have to say, Lord Castoden, is of the up-most importance to this land. The Archmage is lost to us, and this leaves the throne of Weissland empty. By law, I must pass the throne onto the next in line, which would be you, James."

"Within Weissland, there are only two people who have right to the throne. There is myself, and there is you. You are a direct descendant of the Castoden lords of old, James. Their blood runs in your veins, and therefore you are the rightful heir to Weissland's throne." He paused, seeing the man's shock. "This, I know this will seem like a lot, my lord. But this is the life of your family, one of nobility. Your ancestors took up the throne before Lord Lathaon did. With him gone, the crown now passes to you."

"How did Lathaon become king?" asked James, somewhat confused. "My father and grandfather were alive during his rule."

"Through the ages, there was some... corruption of the monarchy. During the civil war, Lord Lathaon routed out this corruption and restored Weissland to peace and order beneath his rule. Needless to say, your parents did not hold the throne when the Archmage took it." said Mordain. "But we elves have had our share of the throne. Rightfully, it should belong to you James, and it is my belief that this right should be restored to you."

"Lead this land, these people, this army. You will be their heart and their hope. All of Weissland will bow to you in unending loyalty."

James looked down and shifted his jaw back and forth. "I want the people to bow because they want to, because they respect me, not because they have to. I want them to look at me with the same eyes that the men of this army look at me. But I don't know anything about being a king. I earned the respect of the army by slogging it out with them, by putting myself on the front lines with them, by suffering with them. How can I do that with an entire nation?"

"The people of Weissland will bow to you out of choice if you show them that you deserve it. Move with this army, continue the fight against the Dark Lord and rid our great land of his foul taint. Lead your people by leading your army. To be a King, you need only be a good leader. And from your exploits with the army, you should know as well as I do that you are compitent enough at that!"

Mordain bowed low. "Then it shall be so, my Lord. In Asulien, you will be crowned King of Weissland."
